This was my first visit to Tokutawara this year. I finally had the chance to visit after being busy since the beginning of the year. I ordered Awazasa and Sasuga (each 385 yen) with shochu on this day. The fresh surf clam sashimi (550 yen) was a highlight of the day. Being able to enjoy fresh surf clam at Tokutawara was a delight, especially since I have experienced its charm in Hokkaido. I was intrigued by the Osaka Bay grilled Pacific saury with salt (550 yen). The fish was grilled carefully as always. The sakura shrimp tempura (660 yen) was packed with ingredients. The crispy texture with plenty of sakura shrimp was delightful. Lastly, I had the houbou sashimi (440 yen) as the final dish. It included multiple parts of the fish, and the presentation was really nice. Although I may not have many chances to visit this year, I would love to go whenever possible.

I finally visited "Tokutawara" that I had always wanted to go to!! I arrived around 4:30 PM and there were 4 people waiting ahead of me. Since it's a one-hour time limit, I entered at 5 PM! First, I ordered a drink and then placed my order. The crab claw with minced meat and crab miso was rich in crab miso and the crab meat was thick, making me crave some sake. There were also limited edition sake options, so I should have tried them. The yuba sashimi came with plenty of condiments and was a rich and delicious dish that could be enjoyed as it is. I wasn't planning to order the mantis shrimp, but almost everyone in the restaurant was ordering it, so I ended up ordering it too. I used to be a little hesitant about mantis shrimp, but I got over it at this restaurant. It was really delicious. The tofu with shirako had a strong shirako flavor and was a dish that went well with sake as well. Everything was delicious... I was very satisfied!!! Thank you for the meal.

This time, we barely made it into the restaurant, so some dishes were already sold out. However, the food was served quickly and we were able to enjoy many delicious dishes! Personally, the bitter melon was so delicious that I wanted to take some home. *Be aware that the restaurant closes around 7 pm, so it's better to go early! I want to go earlier next time.♡

When drinking in Kitasenju, we often start at this restaurant if we can make it in time. We usually meet in front of Marui around 3:30 PM and start lining up around 3:40 PM. This day, my friend and I managed to be the first ones to enter right when they opened. We started with Ebisu beer for a toast. The menu is always handwritten. We chose Suzuki konbu me, hamo tempura, and hotate kai nuta as our snacks. The perfectly cooked Suzuki had just the right amount of stickiness and a great umami flavor that came out as you chewed. The standout dish was definitely the fresh hamo tempura! The crispy coating and fluffy, flavorful hamo were exceptional. The refreshing hotate kai nuta paired well with the Tokuhai, a specialty cocktail made with umeshu and whiskey topped with soda.

I was told about a standing bar paradise and headed to Kitasenju. "Tokutawara" is a place that is only open during limited hours on weekdays. I lined up a little before opening. It's a popular place where even on weekdays, there are people lining up. The menu seems to change every time I visit, so it's nice to be able to enjoy different flavors each time. First, I couldn't miss the "Simmered Taro and Shiitake Mushrooms". Both the taro and shiitake mushrooms were cooked to perfection with a nice texture. I wanted to shout out to the Brazilian people on the other side about how delicious the mushrooms were. The "Scallop and Sand Lance Nuta" had a light acidity and the refreshing taste of myoga, which was amazing. And I loved the "Fresh Ginger Tempura" so much, it was incredibly delicious... I want to keep eating this while drinking sweet potato soda... The trio of sashimi, "Sliced Sea Bream", "Beltfish Tataki", and "Grilled Pacific Saury with Kombu" were all delicious and fresh, making the sashimi also taste amazing... The "Cod Milt Tofu" had a rich flavor, and the "Young Sweetfish Tempura" was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect for pairing with sake. Lastly, the "Mambo Intestine with Sesame Salt" was a surprise to find that you can eat mambo, and the seasoning was excellent, similar to mino sashimi, which was amazing. Since there is a one-hour time limit rule, if you can't get in on the first round, try visiting another bar for a drink and then come back, you should be able to get in right away! Please use this as a reference when you go ◎ Thank you for the meal.

Finally got to go to Tokudawara-san. We arrived before 5 pm and there was a line (about 10 people). The turnover was fast and the wait time was about 15 minutes. I thought the menu might change daily. The ayu and firefly squid tempura were exquisite, the sashimi was delicious, and we finished with grilled belly. It cost around 7,000 yen for two people, so the cost performance is excellent.

I visited on Saturday evening. It's best to come early as they close early and tend to sell out later on. The menu for today is displayed and the prices are quite cheap. The alcohol is also reasonably priced. It's a standing bar so you can't stay for long, which is both good and bad. But you can enjoy great taste and value for money here!

North Senju expedition. Finally visited Tokutawara-san. Standing bar-style Japanese restaurant, all dishes are delicate and offer great value for money. Recommended drinks are shochu and sake. The dishes have strong flavors that pair well with the drinks. Arrived 15 minutes before opening on a weekday, but there were already about 8 people in line. Would love to go again.

In Kita-Senju, my wife and I waited in line for 40 minutes at a shop that is only open on weekdays. We finally got inside and some dishes were already sold out, but we chose the following:
- Ebisu nama-imo (raw potato) white simmered dish
- Seri (Japanese parsley) white salad
- Takenoko (bamboo shoots) tempura
- Hirame (flounder) with kombu (kelp) shime
- Hagi (sandfish) liver miso mix
- Sayori (halfbeak fish) tempura
We enjoyed our weekend drinking with a glass of Japanese sake (Koshino Beni) in between. It was a satisfying weekend drinking experience. Kita-Senju is the best!

I arrived early today because they close at 7pm, so it was my first time visiting. I haven't had such delicious food in a long time, so I am very satisfied. (Laughing inside) The sea urchin cheese, simmered sardines with plum, and simmered taro were all delicious. I had the limited edition Tanigawadake sake. I received a chaser and leisurely enjoyed it for about 30 minutes. The bill came out to be 2035 yen. Such quality at a low price. I will come early again next time.

At the popular standing bar in Kitasenju, "Wappo Kuzushi Tokudawara," people start lining up before the opening. If you arrive 20 minutes early, you have a good chance of getting in on the first round! Despite being a standing bar, the quality of the food is high. And because it's a standing bar, you can enjoy good food at a reasonable price! Some recommended dishes include: Black mebaru (rockfish) sashimi for 440 yen, homemade squid salted guts for 440 yen, nori (seaweed) vinegar for 550 yen, and grilled surume ika (Japanese flying squid) for 770 yen. I had a promise to keep and was alone, so I only tried these four dishes, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Tokudawara. Kitasenju has many great drinking spots, so I definitely want to come back and explore more next time.

A famous standing bar in Kita-Senju. It took over 2 hours to get inside the bar. Once inside, it was quite crowded for about an hour. The interior was not very spacious, and we were seated in separate sections. The menu seemed to focus on seafood. We tried blackthroat seaperch sashimi, splendid alfonsino sashimi, sandfish, garlic shoots tempura, monkfish liver, and seafood marinade. Everything was delicious, but the portions were relatively small so we didn't get full. The drinks were reasonably priced, and sake went well with the food. I would like to go back again, but because of the longer-than-expected wait to get in, I will wait a while before going back.

5 minutes walk from Kita-Senju Station. I went there on Friday around 17:40 and there were already about 3 groups waiting, but I was able to get in in less than 30 minutes. It seemed like many salarymen or couples who had just finished work were coming in. It was fun to look at the menu posted on the right side of the entrance while waiting outside. Inside, it was all standing style, and you could see the kitchen from any seat. The meals I had were as shown in the photos. All the dishes had a gentle and not too strong flavor. The presentation was beautiful, and the dashi was well seasoned. It felt like the taste you would expect from a high-end Japanese restaurant. The ankimo I had at other places was a bit dry and hard in texture, but the ankimo here was moist and tender, which surprised me. The shirako tempura was juicy and had a gelatinous texture when you bit into it. The sashimi was a bit pricey for a few slices, but worth it. The simmered daikon and squid had a rich flavor. The meals were mostly already prepared and served on large plates, so the waiting time was short. In short, it was fast. It may feel a bit expensive when you consider the price per dish, but despite only being open on weekdays from 16:00 to 19:00, there were still lines of customers and the restaurant had good ratings on Tabelog. The atmosphere was mature, and the customers were mostly older. I would like to go again. Everything was delicious.

In the Kita-Senju area, there is a super famous restaurant that is even more famous for being difficult to get into. This place, which can only fit about 10 people standing, has very short opening hours from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays. Each group can only have up to 3 people and the maximum stay is 1 hour. It's quite a challenge to find the right timing, so I decided to visit on my day off. I arrived at 3:40pm, but there were already 5 people in line. By opening time, there were about 15 people waiting. The sign says "Kappo Kuzushi", and the dishes, mostly priced at 440 yen, are prepared by the skilled chef who used to work at a traditional Japanese restaurant. The quality of the food is outstanding, and even the dishes priced at 550 yen and 660 yen are very reasonable. Today, I ordered mackerel sashimi, celery and sesame salad, white fish with nori and vinegar, and sea cucumber with vinegar. Each dish was made with high-quality ingredients and had a refined flavor. The sea cucumber was especially tender and delicious, better than any I've had before. It's not a place to linger, so I left quickly. As I left, there were already about 20 people waiting in line! I will definitely come back for another chance to dine at this amazing restaurant!

Tokyo Trip♪ Visited the standing bar Tokuda Wara, which was featured in Ota Kazuhiko's casual trip New Izakaya Hyakusen. @to.ku.da.wa.ra Although it was difficult to find a suitable date as they are closed on weekends, I finally managed to go. It's a very popular place with a line forming even before opening! I went to a cafe in Kita-Senju to pass the time before heading there about 30 minutes before opening, and there was already a line. Managed to get in on the first round. The L-shaped counter filled up quickly. The quality of the Kinmedai sashimi was excellent, sweet and delicious ❤️ Swipe x 4 ⏪⏪ PIC2 - Simmered black turban shell PIC3 - Sea bream with stolen sake sauce The attention to detail in the ingredients was evident, as expected from a high-ranking store on Tabelog. The side dishes on the counter were properly wrapped, and there were nylon curtains for partitioning, ensuring thorough COVID-19 prevention measures and cleanliness. Due to its popularity, make sure to arrive early and wait in line. Please do not stand in front of the apartment entrance to avoid inconveniencing residents. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Today's dinner is at "Tokutawara" in Kita-Senju. I decided to go on a drinking tour of izakayas in Kita-Senju. I wanted to start at "Ohashi," which is known for offering one of Tokyo's top 5 simmered dishes, but they don't allow photos inside, so I decided to skip it. Instead, I started with a quick stop at the standing bar "Tokutawara." Even though it had been open for about an hour, there was a 20-minute wait to get in due to two groups ahead of me. I ordered a draft beer (440 yen), "yellowtail sashimi" (550 yen), and "deep-fried eggplant simmered dish" (440 yen). The eggplant arrived quickly, with a beautiful color. As they boast of being a traditional Japanese restaurant, the flavors were authentic. The deep-fried eggplant in a well-extracted broth with the oil from frying adding richness was delicious. The eggplant itself was tender and flavorful. It's a taste you'd expect from a traditional Japanese restaurant. The second dish, "yellowtail sashimi" (550 yen), was prepared by the owner wearing a tie and a traditional Japanese chef's coat in the kitchen. It was served beautifully on a small plate. The sashimi was also wonderfully tender. I wonder if it has been aged for a few days? It felt like I was eating it at the moment it transitioned from firm to tender. A small beer, two dishes, 20 minutes of waiting, and 20 minutes of enjoying the food. It's the way of an Edokko (a person from Edo, old Tokyo) to quickly give up their standing spot in the queue. For now, I may be a Kyushu boy, but I tried to act like an Edokko.

The restaurant sold out of snacks in just 10 minutes after opening, so it's a must to arrive right when they open! There was already a line of about 5 people waiting 20 minutes before opening. The place was full with people who had been waiting in line. Everything on the menu is delicious and you can't help but keep eating! They only open from 4pm on weekdays, and once they sell out, they close. The days you can go are limited, but I definitely want to go again.

On this day, I was wandering around Kita-Senju. My goal was to visit a restaurant that I couldn't go to last time. The location is about a 5-minute walk from Kita-Senju Station, which is convenient due to the various train lines that stop there. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was about 20 minutes before opening. It seemed like I could still get in for the first round. The restaurant has some rules, such as a maximum of 3 people per group, but it's better to go with 2 or even alone. Last order is within 1 hour of entering, and orders need to be served within 10-15 minutes after that. No loud conversations are allowed. The entrance has a ramp and no significant steps, making it easy to enter. Inside, there is an L-shaped counter with no chairs. The drink menu includes beer, sake, shochu, highballs, sours, and fruit liqueurs. The food menu ranges from 440 to 1000 yen, with a lot of fish dishes and simmered dishes. There is no specific rule for ordering, but it's recommended to order 2-3 dishes at a time as they are served as they are ready. I ordered a Mars highball and some dishes, including simmered taro and ankimo, which were delicious. Overall, the food was tasty, and the variety of drinks is sufficient for those who enjoy it. It's a good place for a quiet drink alone or with one other person, especially for an early weekday visit to Kita-Senju.

I visited the restaurant around 15:40 on a regular day, 20 minutes before opening. I think I was the 4th group in line. If you want to get in on the first round, you need to come around this time. Groups of up to 3 people. They operate on a 1-hour system. Be aware that they have a long holiday break at the end of the year (from 12/23). They have coat racks and hooks for your belongings. It's a cheap standing bar with a focus on traditional Japanese cuisine. The owner of one of my favorite restaurants recommended it, so I bookmarked it. Since it's a drinking place, I invited some friends to join me. I enjoyed dishes like simmered sea bream head, simmered turnips, and simmered fish. The turnips soaked in sea bream flavor were delicious. I didn't like the bold tempura batter, but considering the price and the fun atmosphere, I can overlook it. It's great to find something fun, cheap, and delicious! Prices: 550 yen for matsukawa karei (flatfish) with kombu, 770 yen for seafood marinated in vinegar, 660 yen for sea bream head, 440 yen for simmered turnips with duck liver in ponzu sauce, 550 yen for grilled masu fish, and 440 yen for frosty sashimi.

I finally had the chance to visit a restaurant with a tight opening hours from 16:00 to 19:00. When I arrived at 15:45, there was already a line of about 10 people (sweat). I managed to get in for the first round. It's a standing-style Japanese izakaya where the menu seems to change depending on the daily ingredients and preparations. Despite the reasonable prices, you can enjoy the chef's dishes, each served in small portions, so you can order a variety of dishes and have a great time. It's a shame that they operate on a one-hour rotation system, so I couldn't order everything, but there are some unique menu items that all seem like good choices. The staff's service was polite and friendly.

I finished work in Kita-Senju and came here. It's a famous restaurant in Kita-Senju. Even at 4:30 pm, there was already a line. I was able to enter after waiting for about 40 minutes. The menu features seasonal ingredients at casual prices. Everything I ate was delicious. I want to keep coming back to this place.
