Miyazaki Beef Rumored Selfish Hamburgers Kokubunji Store @ Kokubunji, Tokyo @ Hamburgers 2022-04-21 I visited for the first time at lunch and liked it, and on 2022-06-03 I revisited the store at night after two months. They specialize in hamburgers that are cooked slowly over charcoal and can be customized at the table to suit your taste, but for some reason, this time there was a lingering sense of dissatisfaction compared to previous visits. Located on the south side of JR Chuo Line Kokubunji Station, towards the back in a mix of dining and residential areas, just before the Yamaha Music School. It is next to the famous Chinese restaurant Otome. It opened as a pre-opening on 2022/03/26, but for some reason, even after 4 and a half months, the pre-opening sign is still hanging on the vertical signboard. The sign is small, but the white noren curtain and the large black hamburger poster on the window stand out. The interior has a compact design with a counter facing the open kitchen with 5 seats and two 2-person tables next to the entrance. There is a gas charcoal grill in the kitchen, and hamburgers are sizzling on it. The menu consists of "Miyazaki Beef Hamburger and Rice" as the basic option. By adding the LINE friend, I received a Japan's most dedicated egg worth 110 yen for free. An additional hamburger, called "Tsui Hamburg," is 450 yen per piece. There is also a salad for 200 yen. The rice is free for the second serving, and from the third serving onwards, it is 100 yen. I ordered the following: ■ Miyazaki Beef Hamburger and Rice 1,650 with mashed potatoes, rice, miso soup, and pickles. In the past, two round hamburgers and a solid fuel iron plate were brought with rice, and it was explained that "one more is being cooked, so we will bring it later," but tonight three were served from the beginning. The table note says, "We provide it rare, so finish it to your liking," but one was medium rare, and the other two were medium, so it was disappointing. This has been the case in the past, so it seems that the control of the cooking degree is not going well. If it is served medium, the tabletop stove is just a hindrance. The surface of the hamburger is black because it is cooked slowly over charcoal. It looks like a charcoal dumpling! But there is no bitterness. The hamburger seems to be made without using any binder, but the impact of the meat's umami flavor is somewhat lacking. This may be the main factor causing the dissatisfaction. They emphasize the brand of Miyazaki Beef, but hmm. Furthermore, there was a slight misunderstanding with the male staff, which made me a little irritated. The free rice refill is delicious! It's nice for those who like white rice. The egg from Okayama was delicious, and it seems good to enjoy TKG with the second serving (I only had one serving, so I switched to TKG halfway through). Some sites mention the name of the store as "Kokubunji Store," but this is the only location. The owner wants to open a branch in the future, so they have named it Kokubunji Store. Due to these circumstances, unfortunately, I had to lower the high ratings from the past two visits a bit, and my motivation to revisit has decreased.
