This is a great place to drink. It's the second stop on a bar crawl. While walking and deciding where to drink next, I was drawn in by the sign for a "Service Set" and decided to give it a try. I ordered the A Set for 900 yen, which includes sashimi, grilled sweet potato, cold tofu, and a drink. I chose a draft beer for my drink. The menu at this place has a lot of Japanese dishes, and they also have a wide selection of sake. The sashimi was tuna, and the grilled sweet potato was cut into easy-to-eat pieces and served with grated daikon radish and ginger. I also tried the Ice Color Sour for 350 yen, which was a sweet and sour cocktail. Overall, it was a nice place to have a drink.

The name is Furano, but it doesn't seem to be specialized in Hokkaido. It's a casual pub with a focus on the counter. The age group is older. I used it for the third time. Set A includes sashimi, cold tofu, and sweet potato grill? It's not fried sweet potato, but grilled? Plus a drink for 500 yen or less for 800 yen. This is a great deal. I couldn't eat much after having horumon, so I'm sorry I didn't order more. It's a casual pub that can be used for light drinking or relaxing. I had a lemon sour first and a oolong high for the second drink.

In October 2017, in Kameido, Tokyo, I found a great restaurant called "Furano" located in front of Kameido Station North Exit and Kameido Yokocho. Although it is always busy, I noticed an empty seat and decided to stop by. I ordered the "Service B Set ¥1000 (excluding tax)" as advertised on the storefront. It came with a drink, cold tofu, sweet potato yakitori, and beef teppanyaki. The portion was generous and it was already more than enough! The customers were mostly older folks, and it seemed like many of them were regulars who knew each other well. They were having a lively time chatting and enjoying themselves. I also ordered the "Ice Color Sour (plain) ¥300" and the total bill came to ¥1400, which was quite reasonable. I felt a bit out of place as a younger customer, but it was still a great experience.

I went to Furano for my second stop. It had been about a year and a half since I last visited this restaurant. I sat at the corner seat near the entrance and spotted Pacific saury in the showcase. I ordered the grilled Pacific saury, paired with Manzan sake. The sake glass was large, and they kept pouring until the sake cup was full! It was delightful! After enjoying the grilled Pacific saury, I had another glass of sake from Sado Island, Niigata. On my way out, the chef greeted me, saying, "It's been a while, did you get transferred?" It was nice to be remembered! Thank you! I will definitely come back again!

Today's dinner was here. There are two service sets available here. There is a standing signboard at the storefront, but there is no indoor seating, so make sure to confirm it before entering. Set A: Drink + sashimi + 2 appetizers for 800 yen. Set B: Drink + beef yakiniku + 2 appetizers for 1000 yen. It was written that there is an additional tax, but the calculation at the checkout was inclusive of tax. This time, I ordered Set A. By the way, for those not using the service set, there is a net coupon for a free drink. I chose a draft beer for the drink. It comes with tuna sashimi, cold tofu, and Satsuma-age. The portions of the cold tofu and Satsuma-age were sufficient for a service. The tuna, however, was not very good in quality. The shochu and sake here are also inexpensive, with popular brands like Ura-Sakura, Ichinokura, and Takashimizu priced at 400 yen. I added a Kuro Kirishima for 400 yen. The portion was beyond my expectations. I also added a salmon collar for 450 yen. The collar that came out was also large. This place doesn't disappoint customers' expectations. The interior mainly consists of a counter, with table seats resembling private rooms at the back. It has a rather old-fashioned feel. The couple at the counter are currently 72 years old but very energetic. If only I had grandparents like them... The customers were all elderly men over 60. And the place was fully packed! It felt like a retirement home (^^) The menu only consists of drinks written on the wall and food items on the blackboard. The variety is limited. There is only one blackboard, so the customers have to move around to see it. The name "Furano" comes from... the owner is originally from Furano, Hokkaido. He has been in Tokyo since he was 18 years old. The nearby "Furano Yamabe-ten" is also managed by him, it seems.

Left Tokaido and arrived at Furano in 30 seconds. Second bar for the evening set. Located in front of Kameido Yokocho. The evening set options are 800 yen and 1000 yen, but the latter is sold out. Ordered the 800 yen evening set. Drink is a Hoppy White set, with more than half a glass of beer. Snacks include chilled tofu, sweet potato tempura, and raw horse mackerel. The chilled tofu is about half a block of tofu with a little bit of seasoning. The sweet potato tempura consists of four thin slices. The raw horse mackerel is small but there are about 10 slices, and the freshness is not bad. All this for 860 yen including tax. Normally, it would cost around 1500 yen. Although the snacks are simple, considering the effort, it might be cheaper than drinking at home. The transition from "Tokaido" to "Furano" worked well today. (2016.5. Weekday, 1st visit)

I was planning on having just one drink at the alley, but when I peeked into Furano, someone I knew waved me over. Oh well, I'll have one drink. I was worried it would smell like cigarettes, but surprisingly it didn't. I had sake as my drink, and anchovy salad as my snack. And for the finale, a mini curry. It tasted nostalgic, like the flavor from Edomachi Teahouse. They were open from 2pm that day, and I heard they closed just before I arrived. Well, there are a lot of Okaechan fans after all. I hope they can have their own restaurant soon.

(2016/01/17 Revisit) On my way to this restaurant, I ran into Chef Mitsuo Ishiyama, also known as "Itamae Ishiyama." I should make a reservation next time. (To myself) ※It might be better to treat it as a separate restaurant like "Murasaki Kuroki." For now, no scoring. The food and drinks I had are as follows:
【Food】
- Spinach with sesame dressing (Just a little bit of vegetables.)
- Mixed fry (Ordered mackerel fry, but based on a regular's suggestion, got a mix with shrimp fry.)
- Tamagoyaki (Asked for a lighter flavor when ordering. Still a great side dish for rice.)
- Onigiri (Salmon) (Served with miso soup. Bigger onigiri than last time, with salmon shared by a regular.)
- Potato salad (One of the best-tasting dishes of the day.)
【Drinks】
- Shikuwasa (Sour, I think, but not specified. Managed to take a bar-like photo.)
- Hokkaido's Kitano Ichiban
- Niigata's Kage Tori (Almost completed the sake menu.)
The total cost was less than 4000 yen. Thank you for the meal.

(2016/01/10 Revisit) I met someone I saw during my first visit at "Shuhari," known as Okaechan. Visited again on a Sunday, which is the restaurant's regular holiday, as they are open on Sundays now. The food and drinks I had are as follows:
【Food】
- Oden (400 yen. Mustard was provided in a tube, so I added it myself. Even though I didn't grow up eating chikuwa, I found it delicious.)
- Vinegared dish (250 yen. Refreshing taste with chikuwa.)
- Mackerel namero (450 yen. Used Marujou's ginger miso. Tastes great with rice.)
- Scallops (Grilled with soy sauce. Also great with rice.)
- Pickles (Homemade by a regular. Light and tasty.)
- Oyakoni (500 yen. Perfect seasoning and delicious.)
- Wasabi pickles (Complimentary.)
- Tamagoyaki (400 yen. Rich flavor that makes you want to eat it with rice.)
- Onigiri (500 yen for one with miso soup. Got two for some reason.)
【Drinks】
- Akita's Takashimizu
- Miyagi's Urakasumi
- Miyagi's Ichinokura
- Hokkaido's Otokoyama
- Osaka's Kushun (Kushun was 480 yen. Started with Takashimizu and got too drunk to taste the difference later.)
Thank you for the meal.

(Initial Review) Visited for the first time on 2016/01/09. Went here as the second stop with THE Kinshicho and K-san, who were sitting next to us at "Yonesan." It was just before the date changed when we entered. The items I ordered are as follows:
【Drinks】
- Toyama Tateyama (Excluding tax 530 yen. It was near closing time, so just one glass. They poured until the masu was full. I think it was Ginrei Tateyama from Tateyama Shuzo. If correct, I believe it's either a regular sake or a honjozo. It was easy to drink and delicious, so personally, I thought it had good value for money.)
Will visit again. Thank you for the meal.
