I love bakeries, so I decided to visit this one on the street. It's a small shop, but they have a wide variety of breads. From lemon cream-filled bread to French breads, sandwiches, and the classic cherry red bean bread, there were so many delicious options. I bought a curry-flavored bread with a whole potato inside and a Danish-style bread with orange paste, both of which were very tasty. And the best part is that they are very affordable, ranging from 110 to 230 yen. It's delicious and budget-friendly, so it has become my favorite shop.

A 10-minute walk from Kita-Senju Station East Exit. A quaint old-fashioned bakery located in a quiet residential area. It opens at 6 a.m. and offers reasonably priced bread, mostly under 100 yen, except for sandwiches. ● Walnut and Fig Petit Roll (150 yen) Although small, the filling is substantial. I thought there would be chunks of walnuts and figs inside, but they seemed to be kneaded into the dough, so at first I thought there was no filling. When I tried it, I felt the crunchy texture of fig seeds in the buttery roll-like dough. I couldn't see any walnuts...! But I didn't mind the nostalgic sweetness. I could feel the warmth of the bread artisan. It's a lovely bakery that would make you want to visit every morning if you were a local.

Located on the east side of Kitasenju Station, near the Sumida River, this bakery in the nostalgic Yagihara shopping street exudes a Showa-era charm. I stumbled upon it while out for a walk and was drawn in by its quaint atmosphere. The interior is neat and clean, leaving a positive impression. The bread is individually wrapped for hygiene. An elderly lady, full of agility, served me at the register. The bread here has a light and refreshing taste, different from the rich and buttery breads popular nowadays. The Frankfurt with basil-infused dough, Danish-style Orange Bread, and other offerings show that they are keeping up with the times. Their modest yet earnest attitude is impressive. This old-fashioned bakery allows customers to leisurely browse and choose products without feeling rushed, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

<Ordered items (tax included)> - White bread (240 yen) - Butter roll (250 yen) - Croissant (130 yen) - Plastic bag (5 yen) <Impressions (personal thoughts)> - Visited before noon on a weekday (Regarding the white bread) - It was delicious with a perfect combination of soft, moist, and fluffy texture. - The texture was fine and smooth. - The dough density was quite high and heavy (but the texture was light). (Regarding the butter roll) - It was slightly less moist, but had a normal taste. - When warmed up in a toaster, it became fluffy and tasty. - It was quite sweet. (Other) - There were various types of bread, so I would like to visit again.

At the east exit of Kitasenju Station, go straight and turn right at the end, then immediately turn left and continue straight. On your left hand side, you will find the entrance to Yanahara Shoueikai. The cashier is a motherly figure. For lunch, I bought the sandwich (¥220) and seafood pizza (¥190) shown in the photo. Both were delicious and had a gentle flavor. The shop's selection seemed to have more sweet items, but there were also many options suitable for lunch such as sandwiches, frankfurters, and pizza bread. It's a shop loved by the locals.

This is a Showa retro bakery located in a Showa retro shopping street. Despite being a small shop, they have a wide variety of bread available at relatively affordable prices, around ¥150 each. They offer various types of bread such as sweet buns, savory buns, sandwiches, and rusks. However, I was a bit surprised by their muffins, which clearly looked like they were from a famous members-only wholesale store. Lately, it's strange to see shops selling products from that warehouse store in supermarkets and elsewhere! I didn't buy the muffins, but I did choose the *Chestnut Cream Bun for ¥160* and the *Coffee Roll for ¥140*. The Chestnut Cream Bun caught my eye with its dessert-like appearance, topped with chestnut cream and 3 candied chestnuts. It reminded me of the old-fashioned Mont Blanc dessert. However, the bread itself was a bit dry, which was a bit disappointing. The Coffee Roll, on the other hand, had a subtle bitterness from the coffee cream filling and a strong aroma, which I enjoyed. The bread was moist and fine-textured, which I liked. Overall, this shop offers reasonably priced bread, making it a great place for everyday use.

On a weekend morning around 10:00, there were a few local customers. They came aiming for "Strawberry Sandwich" and "Sweet Potato Sticks" but both were not available. They ended up purchasing items like Fruit Sandwich, Ham Sandwich, Tuna Sandwich, Potato Sandwich, Egg Sandwich, Wafer Sandwich, and Chestnut Sticks. However, all the sandwiches had very little filling... too little filling. Personally, the seasoning also felt lacking. The Wafer Sandwich and Chestnut Sticks were just typical sweet bread. There was no need to go out for shopping for these items.

A cheap and delicious bread shop that I think I would have visited every day if it were nearby during my student days. The shop is run by a friendly lady who sells the bread, while her son bakes them. You can see the bread being made through a glass window inside the shop. Every bread is both affordable and tasty! The muffins are voluminous yet delicately delicious! Although it's a bit far from the station, it's worth going there just to buy their bread.

A shop standing in the old-fashioned streets after passing through Gakuen-dori to the east from Kita-Senju Station on each line. A bakery that has been in business for over 50 years in Yanagihara Shogyo-kai. Founded in Utsunomiya and relocated to this location in 1961 as "Kawaguchi Bakery", the current owner took over in 1985, leading to the current name. The brick-style store with a red and white awning was renovated in 2007. Inside the clean store, various delicious breads are lined up. The bread lineup is a bit nostalgic. The popular item, the fruit sandwich, is sold out. Purchased the "Ham Cutlet Sandwich" and "Apple Pie". The "Ham Cutlet Sandwich" with thick cutlet provides a satisfying bite. The "Apple Pie" is a traditional pie that allows you to enjoy the acidity and sweetness of the apple as it is. A bakery loved by the local community for a long time.

I used it for lunch this time. I was undecided about what to get, but this time I bought a cream bun. Purchase content Cream bun 130 yen The cream bun is a cream bun with no shine on the top. Inside the moist dough, there is plenty of smooth custard cream. The sweetness was also delicious. The shop has a slightly Showa-era atmosphere. In addition to cream buns, there are other delicious breads available. It is a bakery near Adachi Ward Ritsuchijyo Sakuratsutsumi Junior High School.

I walked a little from Kita-Senju Station and found a small bakery in a narrow alley. An elderly lady with a hunched back welcomed me and carefully packed my order in a paper bag. The bakery offers a variety of items in small sizes, such as mixed sandwich, potato salad, orange cream, tomato & egg, ham & lettuce, and egg sandwiches. The bread is soft and fluffy, which I really liked. The croissant was crispy on the outside and airy on the inside, very delicious. The red bean paste bun was chewy with plenty of red bean paste filling. The sweet potato Danish had a crispy outer layer with custard cream, sweet potato cream, and a piece of sweet potato on top, quite sweet. The banana berry muffin was huge and had a lot of volume, best to slice and share. It contained plenty of red berries and was quite sweet. The apple pie had a greasy bottom crust, which I didn't like much, but the top was crispy. The apples inside were delicious.

I arrived at the bakery Kawaguchi-san, located in a very narrow alley that feels very Showa era, past the east exit of Kita-Senju Station and the Gakuen-dori shopping street! There is a bench outside where you can enjoy your bread while basking in the sun, which seems very pleasant. Upon entering, an elderly lady welcomed me. There are various items displayed, and overall, the prices seem quite reasonable. I purchased two Butter Stick Bread for ¥85, a big Blueberry Muffin for ¥155, a Curry Bread for ¥125, a round-shaped Kitakari France Bread for ¥105, and two traditional sweet treats for ¥105 that were displayed by the register. For some reason, most items have a 5 yen fraction attached to their prices. Perhaps it's meant to bring good luck. The Butter Stick Bread has a subtle milk flavor, the Blueberry Muffin is packed with blueberries, the Curry Bread is full of ingredients and creamy, the Kitakari France Bread has chunky pieces of Kitakari, and the sweet treats have a nostalgic taste, like something from the past. The nostalgic atmosphere of this old-fashioned bakery is really lovely.

"Pan Kobo Kawaguchi" is located about a 10-minute walk from JR Kitasenju Station, Tobu Ushida Station, and Keikyu Sekiya Station. I visited during lunchtime on a weekday. This area is known as a filming location for the TV drama "3-nen B-gumi Kinpachi Sensei." The small shopping street in the neighborhood is still lively. The shop was renovated a few years ago, so the interior is clean. An elderly lady attended to me. - Baguette Sandwich (190 yen): A sandwich with egg, cucumber, tomato, ham, and lettuce sandwiched between French bread. Be careful as the egg tends to spill out. - Pan Karinto (100 yen): A treat where bread crusts are coated in a flower sugar-like glaze. It feels a bit too oily. - Kabocha Anpan (160 yen): More like a sweet bun than an anpan. It's quite sweet and would make a good snack with tea. A bakery loved by the locals!
