⭐️⭐️(3 out of 3) This place has been on my homework list for a while, but I never saw it open, so I wasn't sure if it ever opened. I decided to give it a try after a long time, but the shutters were still closed. I took a chance and called, and someone answered and confirmed that they would open around 12 o'clock. When I returned at the time, they were open! I was the first customer, but soon after, more customers arrived and it quickly became full. It's a popular place! The shop was originally run by the husband, but after his passing, the wife and two daughters now manage it. The atmosphere and hospitality from the two women are wonderful, and it's clear that this shop is loved by many. The ramen, priced at 500 yen, is of high quality with a delicious ginger and bonito flavor. The fried rice tastes just like home-cooked meals. I found a great restaurant!

Kinshu-en @ Kokubunji, Tokyo @ Although there are not many ramen and Chinese dishes on the menu, this is a long-established local Chinese restaurant run by a mother and daughter that I want to support. It is located 500m down Asahidori, which extends southeast from the south exit of JR Chuo Line Kokubunji Station, on the left side with a red tent and a red ramen curtain. It is on the first floor of a two-story house. The interior of the restaurant has a compact hall with only four 4-person tables and one 2-person table, with no counter, and the kitchen is at the back. The white wooden tables and maroon vinyl chairs create a local Chinese atmosphere. The restaurant is run by two women (mother and daughter). It has been in business for over 40 years, but the menu has been reduced to its current content since the husband passed away, and they no longer serve gyoza. The mother is in charge of cooking. Even though it is late for lunch, customers continue to visit one after another, showing that it is loved by the local community. The menu consists of 6 types of ramen, Chinese rice bowls, fried rice, and set meals such as fried eggs, ham and eggs, stir-fried vegetables, stir-fried eggplant, stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts, and grilled meat, all simple dishes. When I ordered fried rice, they said there wasn't enough rice, so I added a Mini Fried Rice Ramen Set for 800 yen. I could hear the good sound of the mother cooking in the kitchen, which raised my expectations. The fried rice was a slightly moist, soy sauce-flavored dish with ham, egg, and naruto, and it was not my favorite crispy type, but it was quite good. The ramen had chashu, naruto, spinach, and menma in a soy sauce-colored broth. When I took a bite with chopped green onions, the noodles had a good firmness and were delicious! The soup with a dried fish flavor was also good. It was a delicious Chinese soba. The customer who came after me was told they only had noodles left, but after that, all ingredients were sold out and they had to turn customers away. Everyone seemed familiar with the place, and they left saying, "Too bad, I'll come back again," feeling happy. This is also a sign of a good restaurant. I found another good local Chinese restaurant. Located a short walk from Kokuritsu Station, this shop is run by a mother and daughter. The menu is not extensive, with the cheapest ramen starting at 450 yen and the most expensive being the yakiniku set at 730 yen, making it quite affordable. On this day, I ordered the Cantonese men with half fried rice (800 yen). The dishes are prepared by the mother in the back kitchen, and depending on where you sit, you can catch a glimpse of her working. The daughter then brings the food to your table. The Cantonese men had a rich soup with the flavor of the sauce well blended in, giving it a good depth. It had a delicate touch, perhaps due to being made by a woman. The amount of sauce and vegetables was not too much, but considering the price of 500 yen, it was sufficient. The half fried rice was a flavorful dish with plenty of ham, eggs, and Naruto, enhancing the aroma of the soy sauce. Initially, I was thinking of ordering a regular portion of fried rice, but the half portion was more than enough to fill me up.

Since the owner passed away, the menu at this restaurant has been reduced to about 10 items. Surprisingly, there are no dumplings, mapo tofu, sweet and sour pork, or other typical Chinese dishes. The main dishes are the Half-Chan Ramen and Tanmen, priced at 450 yen and 500 yen respectively. The most expensive item is the 730 yen grilled meat set. Any complaints? LOL

This is a local beloved Chinese restaurant located on Asahi Street. I tried the moyashi soba, which was a delicious bowl filled with plenty of bean sprouts, onions, bell peppers, carrots, and other vegetables. The light and clear soup had a rich vegetable flavor, and the thin noodles were chewy and tasty. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

Ramen and half fried rice set. 750 yen. Both the soy sauce ramen and half fried rice are delicious. The restaurant has four table seats and half-table seats. When it's crowded, the turnover is slow and it takes time to be served.

I went for a walk and started craving Tanmen for lunch. I stumbled upon a ramen shop called "Kinsuien" on Asahi Street. The prices were surprisingly cheap, with Tanmen costing only 500 yen. The shop had a classy and elegant atmosphere, run by a mother and daughter. The Tanmen had a good balance of noodles and vegetables, with a light and flavorful soup. The menu also included beer, tofu, and natto. Overall, it was a great traditional ramen shop on Asahi Street.

This restaurant has been around for a long time, and I used to love the fried rice and dumplings made by the owner, who used to wear an eye patch. After the owner passed away, the restaurant was closed for a while, but around the summer of 2009, I believe it was reopened by the wife and daughter. The exterior has a retro Showa era look, which may make it a bit intimidating to enter at first (according to acquaintances), but the inside is clean and comfortable, creating a cozy atmosphere. After being closed for a while, I visited for the first time in about 7 and a half years. I planned to have fried rice and Cantonese noodles, so it was just as well that dumplings were no longer on the menu. It was quite hot outside on that day, but inside the restaurant, which was nicely air-conditioned, I sat at a table and ordered the set of Cantonese noodles and mini fried rice for 800 yen from the wife. I wonder if they are continuing the father's recipe. The wife seems to handle the cooking, while the daughter takes care of the serving. I could see the kitchen from my seat, and they were skillfully and efficiently preparing the fried rice and noodles. The sound of the fried rice being made in the wok was delightful. In a little over 10 minutes, the daughter brought over a tray with Cantonese noodles, fried rice, and two slices of pickled daikon. I took a bite of the fried rice first. It was delicious, just like the owner's flavor. It was fried rice with finely chopped ham, naruto, and egg, seasoned just right. I wish I had ordered the regular size instead of the mini... The Cantonese noodles were also tasty with a nostalgic flavor. It felt like the owner's recipe was still being faithfully followed. The vegetable topping had a nice presence. Other customers seemed to be enjoying dishes like vegetable stir-fry set for 630 yen or eggplant stir-fry set for 650 yen. I think it's a great restaurant, and most importantly, the food is delicious and affordable! In this day and age, having ramen for 450 yen or a set meal with fried egg for 550 yen is fantastic. Keep up the good work!
