Kinshu-en @ Kokubunji, Tokyo @ Although there are not many ramen and Chinese dishes on the menu, this is a long-established local Chinese restaurant run by a mother and daughter that I want to support. It is located 500m down Asahidori, which extends southeast from the south exit of JR Chuo Line Kokubunji Station, on the left side with a red tent and a red ramen curtain. It is on the first floor of a two-story house. The interior of the restaurant has a compact hall with only four 4-person tables and one 2-person table, with no counter, and the kitchen is at the back. The white wooden tables and maroon vinyl chairs create a local Chinese atmosphere. The restaurant is run by two women (mother and daughter). It has been in business for over 40 years, but the menu has been reduced to its current content since the husband passed away, and they no longer serve gyoza. The mother is in charge of cooking. Even though it is late for lunch, customers continue to visit one after another, showing that it is loved by the local community. The menu consists of 6 types of ramen, Chinese rice bowls, fried rice, and set meals such as fried eggs, ham and eggs, stir-fried vegetables, stir-fried eggplant, stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts, and grilled meat, all simple dishes. When I ordered fried rice, they said there wasn't enough rice, so I added a Mini Fried Rice Ramen Set for 800 yen. I could hear the good sound of the mother cooking in the kitchen, which raised my expectations. The fried rice was a slightly moist, soy sauce-flavored dish with ham, egg, and naruto, and it was not my favorite crispy type, but it was quite good. The ramen had chashu, naruto, spinach, and menma in a soy sauce-colored broth. When I took a bite with chopped green onions, the noodles had a good firmness and were delicious! The soup with a dried fish flavor was also good. It was a delicious Chinese soba. The customer who came after me was told they only had noodles left, but after that, all ingredients were sold out and they had to turn customers away. Everyone seemed familiar with the place, and they left saying, "Too bad, I'll come back again," feeling happy. This is also a sign of a good restaurant. I found another good local Chinese restaurant.
