Visited Wabiya Kokorodo, one of the top 100 yakitori restaurants in Kyoto. Located on Hanami Koji street, the restaurant has a traditional Kyoto vibe. Inside, there is a long counter stretching towards the back, and a couple of private rooms on the second floor. Today, there were many foreign tourists dining here. The atmosphere was bustling, with a skilled female server managing the counter and a young, charismatic chef grilling the skewers. The dishes were beautifully presented and the flavors were exquisite. The yakitori made with fresh local chicken was a standout. The vegetable charcoal grill with mustard and Mimolette cheese was a unique and delicious combination. The pairing with sake, wine, and other beverages was well-balanced and enhanced the overall dining experience. Overall, it was a refined and enjoyable yakitori course that impressed all of us. We became instant fans. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. I highly recommend making a reservation as it is a very popular place! The interior of the restaurant was very calming, beautiful, and had a lovely atmosphere. You can choose between a large portion and a regular portion for the rice, but I think men would prefer the large portion. The staff were polite and kind, and I would love to visit again when I come to Kyoto.

I visited this restaurant because it was highly praised on TV. The atmosphere was nice, but the taste was just like a regular oyakodon with the use of three eggs, which seemed a bit extravagant. The comedian was good at giving food reviews. I found it unusual that they take the card behind the curtain when paying, and the need to sign even for a small amount was also surprising.

I finally visited this restaurant that I have been wanting to go to for a long time. Kyoto is still very hot, even though my reservation was at 12 o'clock. I quickly parked at a nearby parking lot and dashed over because I wanted to cool down as soon as possible. Of course, I had to wait inside the restaurant... After about 15 minutes, I was guided to the second floor. The private room was quiet and very comfortable, so I recommend booking a private room if you can! I ordered the Limited Private Room Lunch - Stone-grilled Oyakodon Lunch for 2390 yen. First, I ordered a drink and received an explanation about the stone-grilled Oyakodon. There were instructions on how to eat it, so I felt reassured! The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, and the sizzling sound of the stone grill really stimulated my appetite! The staff explained the dish as they cooked it. I thought this performance would be well received in a tourist city! The Oyakodon itself consisted of chicken, 3 rich eggs, Mitsuba (wild parsley), and onions. The chicken was grilled to perfection and had a delicious aroma, making the rice very appetizing. They also provided their own condiments and shredded seaweed, allowing for flavor variations, which was great! The flavor was not too strong, so it was not boring, and it paired well with the finishing broth! The cozy atmosphere made me want to visit again! Thank you for the meal!

I went to a yakitori restaurant in Gion, Kyoto. The first floor only had counter seats and was full, with even foreign families present. We ended up getting the 8800 yen course, which included a variety of dishes like appetizers, chicken cuts, grilled Kyoto vegetables, chicken wings with shark fin, chicken dishes, chicken soup, sasami (chicken tenderloin), liver, and duck meatballs. We also had tsukemen (dipping noodles) and dessert, along with drinks like beer, highball, shochu, and two types of wine selected by the sommelier manager. The wine paired perfectly with the yakitori. The manager was great at conversation and made our long stay enjoyable. The yakitori was delicious, especially the chicken thigh, liver, and sasami. The soup, initially looking too rich, turned out to be tasty with a hint of ginger. The duck meatballs were excellent with rice and the truffle tsukemen was satisfying. There are private rooms on the second floor, which is convenient for different occasions. Overall, it was a delicious and enjoyable dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

Four years ago, when I visited Kyoto, I couldn't get into this restaurant because it was fully booked. This time, I made a reservation about a month in advance. The restaurant is located in a nice atmosphere on Hanami Koji street. Inside, there is a stylish counter. They only serve stone-grilled okonomiyaki, so you just choose your drink and wait excitedly for it to arrive. The dish comes with two eggs on top, and they mix it for you. Then they add another egg, and you can crack it whenever you want. There are plenty of spices like shichimi and sansho, making the taste never boring. I couldn't imagine a stone-grilled oyakodon, but it was delicious. The broth was so flavorful and tasty. Personally, I wasn't a fan of oyakodon, but this one was amazing and I could eat it all! The chicken was tender, the eggs were delicious, the okoge was fragrant and tasty, and the broth at the end was so good I could drink it. And above all, the service was excellent. Even if you don't like oyakodon, I recommend making a reservation and going there! There are plenty of delicious foods in Kyoto, but I want to eat here again, and I wish there was a similar restaurant in Tokyo too!笑

A chicken dish restaurant in Gion. Reservations are required for the oyakodon and it includes tender chicken, flavorful eggs, mitsuba, and onions. Three eggs are used in total. The finishing touch of the oyakodon is done right in front of you. It is served piping hot in a stone bowl. On the table, there are chopped seaweed and 5 condiments available for you to adjust the flavor to your liking.

Wabiya Koryakudo Gion Hanamikoji Honten is a great place for bird dishes, including delicious yakitori courses. Everything is tasty and you can't go wrong with any choice. The restaurant is operated by Maruburanshu, providing a relaxing atmosphere. They use Kyoto-grown vegetables and offer dishes like duck meatballs. Located in Gion Shijo, it is a must-visit for Kyoto gourmet lovers.

Parent-child bowl lunch in Kyoto!! The visual presentation is amazing, it looks delicious just by looking at it!! They mix it right in front of you in a hot stone bowl style!! They use three whole red eggs from Kyoto's Marumaru. First, you eat it as it is! The sauce has a perfect taste and when the burnt rice forms, you crush the egg and spread it thinly to eat! Delicious!! You can also add more sauce and there are five different seasonings to mix up the flavor. Finally, they pour special chicken soup over it and it becomes a soup rice dish, you could eat this endlessly!! Should have ordered extra rice. Tried making it like soup curry with curry and soup, but that didn't work out well haha. It's interesting to pour it directly on, it creates a unique flavor. Green sansho pepper is the best. Among all the parent-child bowls I've had, this might be at the top, or even the best. Definitely worth a visit.

I went down Hanami-koji in Gion and visited the famous Marblancshu shop, Chakado, located near Kennin-ji Temple. This time, I visited their shop for a night course in a private room. The skewers were served at the perfect timing, allowing us to enjoy the meal at a good pace. It was delicious and satisfying!

The must-eat oyakodon in Kyoto is only available here. This is my second visit. Last time, I had yakitori as the main dish for dinner, but this time I visited for lunch where they only serve oyakodon. Despite it being a weekday, almost all seats were booked, but I managed to secure one of the few remaining seats for 30 minutes later by making a last-minute reservation on the same day. The female owner here is always cheerful and kind. The oyakodon served in a hot stone pot is of high quality, as expected from a chicken specialty restaurant. The egg is rich and the seasoning is exquisite. You can create crispy rice according to your preference, and you can also choose to have the additional egg cooked half-boiled or raw, offering a wide range of options. The highlight is enjoying the tea-soaked rice by adding chicken broth. It is absolutely delicious and is enough to satisfy you even if it is the main dish. It's so good that I highly recommend making a reservation for weekends. I will definitely visit again!

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. The yakitori is delicious, and the side dishes and grilled vegetables are also amazing ❤️ The oolong tea and jasmine tea are homemade and have a hint of black tea flavor, which was really tasty! The dessert ice cream was delicious, and they were happy to accommodate my request for just ice cream or just cherry sauce. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again! ✨

In the northern area of Kitayama, there is a famous Western confectionery shop called Marbranche, which is owned by the same parent company. Therefore, at the Marbranche in Yamashina, they sell five types of shichimi pepper and sansho pepper. I personally recommend pairing them with wine or sake. They are served on individual skewers. The atmosphere is more relaxed compared to the kushikatsu restaurant in Pontocho.

I went to a restaurant after a long time and everything was really delicious. It is run by the company known for its tea sweets, Maruburanshu. I recommend making an early reservation for the wine pairing course, which takes about 3 hours to enjoy. The manager, who is a sommelier, pairs wines, sake, whiskey, etc. with the dishes, making it very interesting. The yakitori is served slowly so you can enjoy your meal without feeling rushed and getting too full. The soy sauce used with the yakitori is delicious. I wonder where it's from? There is attention to detail in the dishes and you can enjoy them with your eyes and palate. The duck meatball served sizzling on a hot stone was a great finish. The service was polite and I left very satisfied! The first three dishes were a bit bland, so maybe a bit more saltiness would be nice? Since it's a set course, it's best to make a reservation early and take your time to enjoy it!

Recommended by gourmet friends, I visited Kyoto for a trip and decided to try this restaurant. Even though it was a weekday lunch, the reservations were full so we ended up reserving a private room for just the two of us, which was quite funny. We enjoyed the hot stone bowl chicken and egg dish which was delicious with the runny egg and flavorful broth. They had condiments available so we could adjust the taste to our liking. Overall, we were very satisfied with the meal, but the only downside was that even though we were in a private room, there was no call button, making it difficult to order drinks.

I used it for lunch on a weekday. It was a weekday, but it was fully booked with reservations. This time, I sat at the counter on the first floor. There are table seats on the second floor. The lunch menu consists of one type of famous hot stone bowl chicken and egg rice bowl! You can also order a drink set or draft beer. The staff worked efficiently, and as soon as I finished the complimentary pickles, the food arrived! While receiving an explanation of the dish through the counter, they mixed two eggs from Kyoto Tanba and added another egg yolk at the end...♡ The timing of mixing the final egg allows you to adjust the softness to your liking. The chicken is grilled over charcoal and has a very fragrant aroma! Even though the rice portion is just a normal serving, it seems to be about two bowls of rice, but you can also enjoy it with chicken broth poured over it like a rice porridge at the end, and I was able to eat it without getting tired until the end! The restaurant has a Kyoto-like appearance in Hanami Koji, so I would like to visit again when guiding friends on a sightseeing tour of Kyoto. Thank you for the meal ♡

Wabiya's specialty Ishiyaki Oyakodon for 1760 yen. This popular dish often seen on social media was surprisingly easy to reserve a table. The dish was quite luxurious with three eggs cooked right in front of you by the staff. The chicken had a charcoal aroma, and gradually formed a crispy crust. It was a dish that could be enjoyed in various ways, such as adding broth.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station, this restaurant caught my attention as a yakitori shop run by Roman Life, known for their Maruburanshi. They only offer a lunch menu of Ishiyaki Oyakodon. I made a reservation because they often get fully booked, and when I visited, the reservation was indeed full, but depending on the timing, it seemed possible to get a seat. Their specialty, Ishiyaki Oyakodon, comes with special chicken soup and pickles for 1760 yen. It is served in less than 15 minutes, and they finish it in front of you. They use two eggs, first serving it half-cooked and creamy, then adding the other egg at your preferred timing. I tried following the instructions written on the menu, but it didn't go as planned. Eventually, I ended up breaking the second egg early and waited before eating. People who like burnt rice might enjoy eating it from the middle. I added extra sauce for a richer flavor. It was a very safe and decent Oyakodon, with various ways to eat it so it didn't get boring until the end. The service was good, and it was a comfortable place to dine. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

I visited this restaurant during my trip to Kyoto. It was fully booked as it was a Saturday, so reservations are necessary. You can choose the amount of rice you want, and the portions are quite generous, so I recommend opting for a smaller portion if you have a small appetite. The dish uses three eggs, resulting in a rich flavor. You can enjoy it in various ways, such as adding condiments or making ochazuke with the broth. It was delicious until the end.

I came to a famous chicken restaurant on Hanami Koji Street. The parent and child bowl for lunch here is famous! I noticed that they use high-quality eggs generously, which is surprising because they are usually cheap. The variety of condiments and the way they serve it in a tea-dipped style are impressive. They use a stone pot, so it stays hot until the end, and you can even enjoy the burnt parts. It was delicious!

I went to try the stone-cooked oyakodon for the first time, as it had high ratings. Customers with reservations lined up at the counter and started in order. It was like a stone-cooked bibimbap, with a delicious crispy rice part soaked in broth. As someone with a sensitive mouth, I ate slowly. The taste was as expected, but I probably won't go back again.
