I had a late lunch here after a long time. I usually have the sukiyaki set, but this time I tried the grilled set. The meat was cooked perfectly, crispy and tender. There were plenty of vegetables, so it was a well-balanced meal. Even though I didn't have any alcohol or drinks, I enjoyed the meal. On May 18, 2023, Thursday, at 2:44 PM, I made a purchase. Today, I had to come to Kyoto for some errands and bought this product at Kyoto Daimaru. Eating sukiyaki at Mishimatei Honten would cost over 20,000 yen per person. Today, I opted for the minced meat bento. One costs 1,290 yen including tax. I bought two, including one for my friend. Mishimatei's bento is always delicious no matter what you eat. They use really good meat and their cooking skills are superb, making the food delicious. Thank you for the truly delicious meal today. Located in the basement of Daimaru Kyoto, directly connected to Karasuma Station, is a small corner within a meat shop. The interior has a few counter seats and offers a variety of dishes ranging from the cheapest beef bowl to slightly more expensive set meals. I decided to order the beef bowl. Upon tasting it, I found that the bowl had Sukiyaki-style ingredients and seasoning. The meat was tender and moist. The flavor was slightly sweet, which I personally enjoyed. While the portion size may not be large for men, it definitely gives a satisfying meaty meal. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, although the prices at Daimaru start at around 2,000 yen, making it a bit on the expensive side. Before I entered, I noticed that there were many elderly solo customers and meat-loving women gathered inside.

I received a coupon for a restaurant in Kyoto, so I decided to treat myself to the "Kami Sukiyaki Set" at Sanjotei for 3,520 yen. The meat alone costs 2,160 yen, so it feels like a luxurious meal. Without the 2,000 yen coupon, I probably wouldn't have eaten this, but for 1,520 yen, it's a happy treat once in a while. It's nice to indulge in something like this once in a while, isn't it?

Sukiyaki set meal for 2,750 yen including tax. It's a bit pricey. The size of the meat is quite generous. The tenderness is average. They also have a premium sukiyaki option, which might be even better. The seasoning is just right. It feels like something people used to eat in the past. Eating at Sanjotei is a good experience. Plus, it's convenient being in the department store basement. They also have steak and other options. Of course, the sales section is right next door.

Located on the basement floor of Daimaru Department Store, I decided to visit Three Shimatei at night to avoid the crowds during the day. It took some courage to dine alone at Three Shimatei, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity. The restaurant was filled with the delicious aroma of beef. I ordered the "Amiyaki Zen" at the counter seat. The premium beef was incredibly tender and tasty. The meal came with salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles. It was a rewarding meal for myself.

I had a sukiyaki lunch for 2530 yen. I arrived just before noon on a weekday and was able to enter the restaurant in about 5 minutes. It's so small!! I knew it was only a counter, but the space was tight in every direction. The sukiyaki had a lot of onions in it. The meat was of good quality but there was room for improvement if I had ordered the higher grade meat. I realized that I prefer sukiyaki when I can cook it myself.

I wanted to eat sukiyaki in Kyoto, so I searched and found a hidden gem called "Eat-in" in the Depachika (basement food floor). It seemed trustworthy in terms of quality and the prices were reasonable compared to the main store. I entered as soon as Daimaru opened, ordered, and was served in about 5 minutes. There was plenty of meat, tender and well-matched with the sauce. The other ingredients also had a good flavor, and I could feel the expertise of the long-established restaurant.

The department store basement was crowded with people and I got motion sickness after a long time, but I managed to make my way through the crowd to try the sirloin steak here! The sirloin was reliable! The way it was cooked was good, bringing out the sweetness of the meat, and it was very delicious! Next to me, a very famous friend's father came later and sat next to me, eating sukiyaki, which surprised me and made me nervous... haha When will be the next time...?

The Daimaru Kyoto store outlet is a small cozy counter with only 7 seats located next to the butcher shop. On this day, we shared the sukiyaki set and sirloin steak set, and enjoyed them. The meat was indeed tender and delicious, but it didn't reach the level of being mind-blowing in terms of quality and taste, which was a bit disappointing. Sanjotei is known for its sukiyaki, but the sirloin steak set is definitely recommended at the Daimaru eat-in area! It may be a bit pricey for lunch, so not many people order it, but it was definitely the right choice this time! It can get crowded during lunchtime, but if you can go at a slightly off-peak time, you can be seated quickly. Highly recommended!

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, last order was at 5:30 PM. The counter seats were spaced out, so it was quite crowded. However, I was able to enjoy the taste of a long-established restaurant at a cheaper price than the main branch, so I am satisfied. The number of seats is limited, but it is affordable, so I waited in line. I think the food comes out quickly. It had a hidden gem atmosphere that locals seem to know about. Also, popular items like sukiyaki bento, soboro bento, and gyudon bento were sold out by the evening, which was surprising! It seems that even salarymen buy bento boxes on their way home from work.

The meat is lean and flavorful, and when dipped in beaten egg and eaten with rice, it creates a delightful combination of sweet sauce, rice, and meat flavor. It's a satisfying meal that leaves you feeling happy. I saw Terumoto Terada, a comedian, once said this is the best sukiyaki restaurant he's ever been to, so I definitely want to visit the main store next time.

I found out that you can eat a more affordable version at the basement of Kyoto Daimaru and decided to try it. I went before 6:00 PM and some menu items like sirloin were already sold out. I ordered the Sukiyaki-style bowl for 1836 yen. It's not exactly sukiyaki as shown in the photo, but it had onions, konjac, and the taste was like sukiyaki. It was great to be able to eat Sanjotei's sukiyaki at a more reasonable price. It might be different from the main restaurant, but the meat was good quality and juicy. I have visited a few times. Although having lunch at the department store basement is expensive, you can enjoy delicious meat at a much more reasonable price than at the famous main store. I decided to take a look at the basement food floor at Daimaru Kyoto. I wandered around but couldn't decide on anything. As I was wandering around the fresh food section, I remembered that there was an eat-in area for Mishimaya in the meat corner. When I went there, there was a line... I thought about asking the staff to wait since it was a counter-style setup and I wouldn't have to wait too long, but then a foreign customer insisted on waiting for four people in a row. The staff told me that I would have to wait a little longer then. Finally, I got a seat, lucky me! It's been a while since I've been here. But wait, why is it filled with foreign customers... how do they know about this hidden gem!? I was tempted by the sirloin steak set, but if it's Mishimaya, then it has to be the sukiyaki set! The hot sukiyaki set arrived in about 5 minutes. It was properly sukiyaki! The beef was cooked sweet and savory with sugar and soy sauce. I dipped it in raw egg, mixed it with rice, and yes, it was delicious! I enjoyed it very much. And all this for ¥2,376, such a great deal!

Today, I felt like having some meat in a casual and easy-going way, so I ordered the steak set at Mishimaya for dine-in and also got a side of sukiyaki to share. If I were to make both steak and sukiyaki at home, it would be quite a hassle, but here at Mishimaya, I can enjoy a nice portion of both dishes without any stress. The quality of the meat itself is average, but the relaxed atmosphere adds to the deliciousness. The sesame dressing on the side salad was particularly tasty.
