Located just a short walk from Shijo Station, this restaurant, which moved and renovated in January on the 1st floor of Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto Shijo Karasuma, was our choice for lunch on this day! The exterior is simple yet stylish, possibly due to its location on the hotel's ground floor. The interior is very open, with a large table in the center overflowing with greenery! The table we were seated at had a wooden suitcase, symbolizing a "journey of food," and inside were glasses, table napkins, and a "travel guide." The guide titled "Journey to Taste the Bounty of the Earth" outlined the lunch course menu, inspired by a journey around Kyoto starting from ryu no hige. Each dish was a surprise visually and in taste, with the first appetizer resembling a single examiner lying in a box designed as an autumn garden, leaving us all in awe! The surprises continued through seven courses, from appetizers to dessert, each one impressing with both presentation and flavor. I won't go into detail on each dish to avoid keeping you up all night... After dessert, the initial suitcase reappeared, revealing sparkling chocolates and a lovely birthday message (a surprise!). The chocolates, from a related chocolate specialty shop, offered unique and delicious flavors, wrapping up the culinary journey perfectly. The staff's hospitality, from shyly introducing each dish to accommodating our request for a faster pace due to not drinking alcohol, was impeccable! If given the chance, I would love to embark on another food journey with them again in the future!\(^o^)/

The restaurant is spacious and stylish, but the entrance is hard to find and you can't just stumble upon it while walking down the street. However, the food is truly amazing. Each dish has a theme and the presentation is really beautiful. It's a perfect place for a date or a girls' night out. I think it's a great value for the price.

The summer menu had a fantastic blend of ethnic and French cuisine. The ayu confit, in particular, was incredibly tender, with a delicious hint of bitterness. I definitely want to go back when the next menu comes out!

This French restaurant in Kyoto has a unique twist, combining delicate Kyoto cuisine with the playful spirit of French cuisine. I had previously visited a restaurant in Arashiyama from the same group and had a great experience, so I decided to try this one as well. Each dish on the menu has a concept behind it, such as guiding you to the Gion Festival with the appetizer, or the wind chime festival at Shojusen with the sashimi. It's not a typical high-end French restaurant, but when you hear about the concept behind each dish as you eat, it somehow brings to mind the temples you visited before, making it a very enjoyable experience. This time, I chose the course with braised beef tongue as the main dish, and the meat was incredibly tender and delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal! ✨

I started by taking out the nicely arranged tableware from the wooden trunk case. Inside, there was a travel guide included, and I could enjoy dishes that matched the season. This time, I had a great time exploring places like the Gion Festival and temples, while listening to the explanations from the staff. The food not only looked amazing but also tasted delicious.

You can feel like you're sightseeing in Kyoto with the various dishes that are around 13,000 yen for two people and filled with playful touches. The taste is okay as they focus more on the presentation, but the portion sizes are small and the ingredients are not very fresh. The dessert is cute.

I went to Kyoto again! I visited "ryu no hige" in Shijo Karasuma, a month after my last visit. The fusion of Kyoto cuisine and French cuisine, along with the Kyoto-inspired atmosphere, was so wonderful that I had to go back. I set off on my journey with my trunk open, avoiding the rain as I boarded the Shinkansen from Nagoya to Kyoto. The weather in Kyoto was cloudy, but thankfully no rain. We had a bit of rain while traveling, but it wasn't too bad. We arrived at the restaurant in Shijo Karasuma and were seated at the back. The theme of our trip was "adult summer vacation." We enjoyed dishes we had never tried before and before we knew it, we were already at dessert. The ice cream from the Usagi Shrine was a delightful way to end the meal. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

I visited the stylish restaurant "ryu no hige" in Karasuma, Kyoto. The exterior, atmosphere, and tableware were all stylish. This restaurant offers unique French and Japanese fusion dishes, and the dessert featuring AMANA chocolate was also stylish. Every dish was delicious, especially the sashimi using flounder which was visually stunning. The bread was amazing and I could eat as many as I wanted. It was a great value lunch with reasonably priced course meals.

What a wonderful time it was. I set off for Kyoto with my trunk. I went on a day trip to Kyoto. A Facebook friend had recently visited and I really wanted to go too, so I made a reservation and went. Located in Shijo-Karasuma, "Ryu no Hige" combines delicate Kyoto cuisine with a playful French twist. The unique world view of Chef Mitsutaka Miwata can be enjoyed at this French kappo restaurant. The table was set with a large trunk, creating a fun atmosphere for Kyoto sightseeing. We started with Kifune Shrine, Heian Jingu Shrine, Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple, Arashiyama, Sanzen-in Temple, and Shimogamo Shrine. The course included appetizers, sashimi, cold dishes, grilled items, a strong-flavored dish, and dessert. At first, I thought it might not be enough, but by the main course, I was already full. The dessert was a plate full of matcha delicacies, which I thought was the end, but then another trunk was brought out. Inside were jewel-like chocolates. The "thank you" note inside was heartwarming. I was grateful for the lovely tabi socks. Thank you for everything.

I visited this restaurant for the first time since it moved. The concept and taste are still good, and the prices are not too high. I recommended it to my friends who came to Kyoto for sightseeing, and they were pleased. Payment is accepted in cash or credit card only.

Visited on a friend's recommendation. The theme is travel-inspired cuisine. Interesting concept. Found it a bit challenging. The presentation of the dishes is excellent. The lunch without alcohol was a bit on the rich side in terms of flavor. The chocolate that can be taken home as a souvenir is a nice touch.

I went to ryu no hige in Kyoto, located at Shijo Karasuma! First, I opened the wooden box to prepare for the journey! The excitement was overwhelming! The beautiful flower language of the fresh young maple tree, illuminated by the May sunshine, is 'beautiful change'. The combination of pumpkin pudding and ham mousse was amazing! The duck was also full of flavor and delicious! First, we were guided to Shuon-an, famous for 'Ikkyu', where we enjoyed the splendid May and magnificent greenery. The sashimi platter with two types of fish was fresh and delicious with intricate presentation. Next, we were guided to Kurama-dera where 'Ushiwakamaru' trained. The mysterious legendary sacred place standing in the forest of fresh greenery taught us the strongest tactics in the secret book 'Tora-no-maki', and we were served another wonderful five dishes! Each dish was delicious, highlighting the ingredients. Next, we were guided to Zuishin-in, a temple associated with 'Ono no Komachi'. In the 'flower room', the enchanting spring flowers in vivid colors were depicted beautifully. The shrimp mousse with a rose on top was visually appealing and easy to eat. Next, we were guided to Atago Shrine, associated with 'Akechi Mitsuhide'. The mountain of the fire suppression enveloped in fresh greenery, asking the Katsugun Jizo for the way to the world, served two types of miso-marinated grilled young bird, each with a different sauce that offered a refreshing taste with herbs and grapefruit. Next, we were guided to Byodoin-Ho-o-do, associated with 'Murasaki Shikibu'. The beautiful scenery of the paradise reflected from the purple flower waterfall was like the handsome men in the Tale of Genji, and the colorful strong dishes were well matched with the sauce, and the simmered beef tongue in Kyoto miso was incredibly tender and flavorful. Lastly, we were guided to Daitokuan, associated with 'Sen no Rikyu'. The world of greenery created by moss and fresh greenery, the sweets and dessert were perfect in appearance and taste, and we could feel the freshness of the greenery. Finally, we dispersed at AMANA, reminiscing about today's memories with AMANA's shining chocolate droplets in seven colors, where we could choose from three types of chocolate, all of which were charming and paired well with tea. From start to finish, the course meal was a fantastic experience with amazing presentation and concept, leaving us completely satisfied!

This was my first visit to Ryu no Hige in Kyoto Karasuma! My friend took me there, and it seems they also have a branch in Arashiyama! It's located on the first floor of the Daiwa Royal Net Hotel, and it's a combination of a chocolate shop and a French restaurant. The first impression was that it's a stylish place! The atmosphere and interior of the restaurant are all very stylish! The spacious interior had several table seats. The French cuisine here is themed around travel, with descriptions of each dish related to a journey. The menu had detailed descriptions of the travel experiences rather than the dishes themselves! From appetizers to desserts, all the dishes were not only delicious but also visually appealing! It's not your typical French cuisine, as there were smoked dishes and sashimi served as appetizers, blending Japanese and French influences. It was my first time trying many of the dishes, and my friend and I were amazed throughout the meal! Whether it's a date or a special meal with friends, this place is perfect and highly recommended! I'm not sure about the course options and prices since my friend took me there, so I'll just share some photos. Overall, it was a very delicious and enjoyable French dining experience! Thank you ☺︎

This time, I visited the French restaurant [ryu no hige] located inside a hotel in Shijo-Karasuma. This restaurant changes its theme every month, and this time it was "A Journey to Taste the Blessings of the Earth" with a theme of exploring the new greenery of Kyoto. The course I had was the lunch course for 6,050 yen. First, I took out tools from my bag to prepare for the meal. Inside the bag were a glass, napkin, travel booklet, and a hand towel, which already made the experience enjoyable. The first dish started with a stroll in the garden, featuring a dish with pumpkin pudding, quail eggs, and duck meat. The pumpkin pudding was layered with ham mousse, and mixing them together was delicious. The duck meat was juicy and tender. The second dish was a sashimi platter featuring tuna and red snapper, both of which were delicious with the miso sauce. Each dish was unique and delicious, and the whole experience was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for a special occasion or a memorable meal experience.

I was captivated by Arashiyama MITATE and visited this affiliated restaurant. I was worried that the course content would overlap since I visited here just 1 month after, but it turned out to be the right decision as there were different charms in terms of the dishes and presentation! I wanted to visit during the spring season because I was looking forward to the cherry blossom-themed appetizer box. It turned out to be a larger box than I had imagined. Under the sashimi, there was a cherry blossom fortune slip with happy messages written on them, which was a nice touch. The appetizer plate was very long, taking advantage of its 24cm length. The butterfly contained the menu for the appetizers. The bamboo shoot espuma was the same as Arashiyama MITATE, but the plate was different, which made it enjoyable. The angel prawn and homemade bacon were crispy and delicious. The bacon was smoked. The steamed dish included cherry snapper, cherry mochi, and yuba, which was the same as Arashiyama MITATE but with a different presentation, which was exciting. The flowers really stood out. The dessert was inspired by the heart-shaped window of Shojusoin and was adorable. This got me excited as I had been there before. It was topped with a red wine espuma instead of cherry blossom petals. Lastly, like Arashiyama MITATE, it ended with chocolate. Overall, it was visually enjoyable, but the taste was average. However, considering the speed of service and cost-effectiveness, it was understandable. I feel like Arashiyama MITATE is tastier! But it's expensive (lol).

Ryu no Hige🧝‍♀️Located 4 minutes walk from Hankyu Karasuma Station and 2 minutes walk from Subway Shijo Station. Prices range from ¥3,000 to ¥5,000. Located in Karasuma, Kyoto, #ryunohige offers a playful fusion of Kyoto cuisine and French dishes. I tried the lunch course with simmered beef tongue for ¥6,050. The course is themed around Kyoto's cherry blossoms, with each dish representing a different aspect of the season. Each dish was intricately prepared and delicious. The beef tongue was tender and the pastry was crispy and tasty. The restaurant has a casual and green-filled atmosphere, with attentive service. I enjoyed the meal very much and look forward to visiting again to experience their seasonal themes.

I visited a restaurant in Kyoto that offers a Kyoto cuisine x French course meal, located on the first floor of AMANA after relocating. I stayed in Shijo, so I walked there. The restaurant has a simple and lovely atmosphere with beautiful greenery. A must-visit for female tourists. I made a reservation for the "Kyoto sightseeing experience course lunch for 4400 yen". The full course includes appetizer, hassun, sashimi, cold dish, main dish, steamed dish, and dessert. I opted for the wine pairing without hesitation. The meal started with a trunk-like box containing napkins, towels, and elegant white and tortoiseshell patterned wine glasses. Each dish has a unique concept, and the presentation is elaborate and enjoyable. The dessert includes AMANA's chocolate. I left the restaurant feeling quite full but satisfied, and the price was very reasonable. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again when I go to Kyoto.

The website was fully booked, but when I called on Wednesday at noon, they said it was okay for 2 people, so I went. I had been to the previous location a few times and loved the excellent service and amazing food. This was my first time at the new location, and the atmosphere was completely different - very open and beautiful. My favorite server wasn't there, but I still enjoyed the stylish concept and delicious food even more than before. It's a French restaurant, but the dishes can be eaten with chopsticks and will please everyone. I definitely want to visit again next time I'm in Kyoto. The photo is of the lunch course, but I forgot the details, so I apologize for the lack of explanation.

The idea is very nice, and the exciting presentation of the dishes at this stylish restaurant is delightful. You can taste delicious dishes little by little. It's worth the 4000 yen for the excitement you get. There are plenty of vegetables, which is also nice for health-conscious diners. The flavors are strong, typical of Kyoto cuisine, but delicious. The slightly awkward explanations by the staff are charming...

Casual French restaurant by the MITATE group. Located on the first floor of the Daiwa Roynet Hotel, the spacious and clean space is inviting. The lunch options include reasonably priced courses at 4000 yen, 5500 yen, and 7000 yen. Opted for the 4000 yen course as I was dining with a friend who eats lightly. First, a wooden box resembling a suitcase is brought to the table, setting the stage for a travel-themed dining experience. Inside are a cloth napkin, a menu booklet, glasses, and hand wipes. Drinks are poured into the glasses provided, and I chose a non-alcoholic champagne. The theme for February was "Exploring Kyoto's matchmaking through food experience." Appetizer: "Innocent Love" - Sweet potato pudding and rum mousse in a test tube. Sashimi: "Wedded Rocks of Izumo Shrine" - Flounder and bonito sashimi served with wasabi and mustard toppings. Hassun: "Garden of Flowers at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine" - A variety of small dishes arranged along a plum branch. Cold Dish: "Monkey Knots at Yasaka Koshin-do Temple" - Salad of herring and eggplant with Sichuan pepper oil, plum sauce, and Belrose. Fried Dish: "Matchmaking Daikokuten at Nomiyajinja Shrine" - Angel prawn wrapped in kataifi, served with small potatoes, broccoli, and sesame gluten. Main Course: "Inome Window at Shosu-in" - Duck with tomato and bean stew, eringi mushrooms, yam, adzuki beans, baby leaf, fried onion, burdock chip, balsamic sauce, orange sauce, and paprika sauce. Dessert: "Love Shrine at Kifune Shrine" - Ganache with raspberry, cassis tiramisu, Amaou strawberry ice cream, strawberry confiture, red wine espuma, and hazelnut sauce. The presentation of the dishes was creative and the attention to detail was impressive. The quality varied, with standout desserts and bread. The Amana chocolates at the end were a delightful finish. The restaurant in Minoh with a cafe sounds like a place worth visiting.

Dinner was planned to be a food walk, so I searched for a luxurious lunch experience in Kyoto. I was drawn to the beautiful presentation of the dishes. The food was all visually appealing and interesting, perfect for social media. The taste was delicious throughout. The staff were all cute and enthusiastic in explaining the dishes. It may be more geared towards younger people, but enjoying this kind of concept once in a while is a perfect addition to the memories of a trip. Thank you very much!
