Visited "Jyunsyou" at Nanzen-ji in Kyoto City. It's a Japanese restaurant located at the foot of Nanzen-ji in Kyoto. Today, I had some business in Kyoto City and decided to visit. It's been a while since I last came to Kyoto City, but it seems like the foot traffic has increased. Walking through a charming alley, I caught sight of "Jyunsyou" with its white lanterns. Passing through the gate, I entered a tranquil Japanese garden. The traditional Japanese house with tatami mat seating overlooking the garden was beautiful. The servers in kimono were very calm and polite. After being greeted, the course meal I had pre-ordered began. The tempura, rapeseed blossoms, and other Kyoto-style appetizers were delightful. The Kyoto-style fu manju added to the excitement. The assorted sashimi of tuna, yellowtail, and sea bream was well-aged and delicious. The main dish of tofu hot pot with bonito broth was flavorful, with perfectly condensed tofu. The deep-fried clear soup was also tasty, with a nice crunch from the bamboo shoot. Grilled conger eel and tofu dengaku were also delicious and Kyoto-style. The vinegared dish, including the dressing, was tasty, with a perfect match of seafood. The seafood-rich mixed rice was flavorful and sticky, with a nice shrimp aroma. The red miso soup and pickles had a strong flavor, adding a Kyoto-like touch. The dessert at the end was truly delicious! Both the cake and cherry blossom rice cake were high-quality and tasty. The moistness of the cream, the chewiness of the rice cake, and the sweetness of the red bean paste were all wonderful. Overall, it was a very stable kaiseki meal. The food, environment, and service were all satisfying. It was very delicious. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

This is a great restaurant with a calming atmosphere of a traditional Japanese house. The soy milk and soft tofu have a strong soybean fragrance, and the sesame tofu is wonderfully fluffy. Every dish from start to finish was delicious and left me feeling truly happy. I left feeling nourished both mentally and physically.

The staff at the restaurant were wonderful, and the garden was beautiful. We used the venue for a family memorial service and enjoyed the delicious food. I don't often have the chance to eat hot tofu, so it was a fresh experience. When the mixed rice was served, it had enoki mushrooms and ginkgo nuts as ingredients. The ginkgo nuts were slightly green instead of fully ripe, but it was enjoyable in terms of texture and visual appeal. Personally, I kept mistaking them for edamame and had to remind myself that they were ginkgo nuts several times, which was funny. There are several types of dashi (broth) in Japan, but I like the Kyoto-style the best. I recommend trying the Kyoto-style dashi simmered dish. You can also enjoy yuba (tofu skin) in addition to hot tofu, so please give it a try.

The restaurant's garden was also lovely! There was a pond with swimming koi, and passing through the beautiful garden before entering the restaurant increased my expectations by 120%. The food, of course, exceeded my expectations in taste. The portions were generous, so some women might find it too much and end up leaving some. The oboro tofu was truly delicious (*^^*).

We arrived at the restaurant with our family of two around 6 pm on a holiday. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away without any wait. We ordered the Hana course for both of us, which includes a variety of dishes such as soy milk, sesame tofu, simmered dishes, vegetable tempura, and tofu miso. The yudofu was a bit firmer than the Kyoto tofu I remembered, while the yuba was soft and had a rich soybean flavor. The tofu miso seemed too sweet, overpowering the tofu's aroma. The vegetable tempura had a light, crispy batter and the salt brought out the natural flavors of the vegetables. The restaurant's calm atmosphere, surrounded by a beautiful garden, made for a peaceful dining experience.

I visited for the first time. The garden was splendid, and while admiring the garden, I couldn't help but think how hot it was to have hot tofu in the middle of summer... The tofu was very delicious, especially the simmered tofu. I could eat the whole sweetfish from head to tail. The almond jelly dessert was also very satisfying in terms of both quantity and taste. I will visit again in winter.

I made a reservation because it was in the middle of the Gion Festival. Since I had to be seated immediately with a reservation, I had to choose the course menu, so I chose the "Yuba Shunsai Aoi" course (7150 yen per person). I arrived earlier than the scheduled time, but I was grateful to be shown to my seat promptly as it was hot. The meal started with appetizers, followed by simmered dishes and sashimi using seasonal ingredients, which were delicious. The simmered yuba was made in a pot with soy milk, and you scoop it yourself and eat it, which was fun, and the freshly made yuba was very delicious. I had 2 draft beers and 1 cider, totaling 23,155 yen. I enjoyed a delicious lunch while overlooking a lovely garden. Also, since it is a bit away from the city center, there were no crowds from the festival, which was great as I was with elderly people.

I visited this restaurant for the first time because the nearby Okutan was out of tofu. The restaurant has a beautiful garden and a new building with plenty of seating. The staff on the floor are mostly young but provide sincere and attentive service. The atmosphere and tofu taste are subjective preferences, so it's hard to say which is better, but I might prefer Okutan.

The tofu was incredibly delicious. The broth was also amazing. The gentle flavor made me eat too much. For those trying the hot tofu here for the first time, they would be surprised by how delicious the tofu is. I hope everyone tries it at least once!

First, there was a man standing in front of the restaurant, giving off a strict vibe that without a reservation, you wouldn't be able to enter. Despite this, I decided to try my luck and showed up around 11:30 without a reservation. Surprisingly, I was able to get in smoothly. I passed through a Kyoto-like garden and several buildings before being guided to the dining area in the back. I realized that it was probably easy to get in because the place was spacious. I ordered the Hanakago set meal and Yudofu. It was just right around 3000 yen for lunch. Both dishes were extremely delicious, especially the Tofu Dango which had a shockingly delicious taste. The miso was rich and flavorful, making it the best tofu dish I've ever had in my life. The tempura in the set was also crispy and already seasoned with salt, at a level where it could be served as a main dish in a tempura restaurant without any issues.

GW's trip to Kyoto. This year is my second time in Kyoto. I visited Nanzenji Temple for the first time since my student days. And when you think of Nanzenji Temple, you think of Yudofu, so I visited Junsei right outside the gate. Kyoto during this GW period isn't too crowded. However, there are many tourists from overseas. I had the lightest course focused on Yudofu. Even though it was light, it was still a fulfilling Kyoto cuisine. Yudofu in early summer is truly the best!

Today's "lunch" ♫(^ω^) I visited Nanzen-ji Junsei for the second time in 2 and a half years♪ This time, I received the cheapest course, which cost 3,630 yen. The hot tofu was delicious, but the garden and building are amazing, right? Just looking at the garden is enjoyable. It was delicious again this time. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

I had the Yudofu (hot tofu) meal at Nanzenji Junsei for 3630 yen. It was a great choice as Kyoto is famous for tofu. I arrived during the second half of lunchtime so I didn't have to wait. The meal was delicious, especially the tofu appetizer. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience.

I went to Kikusui in Kyoto for the purpose of visiting the spa at The Westin Kyoto. I decided to try dining outside of the hotel for a change and made a reservation. I chose the classic dish of yudofu (tofu hot pot) for the first time. The restaurant had a very Kyoto-like atmosphere with a beautiful garden. Just entering the restaurant already got me excited. The private room I was seated in had a view of the garden, making it a very relaxing experience. I ordered the yudofu course meal, which started with soy milk and was overall delicately seasoned. The main yudofu dish and the final kamameshi (kettle-cooked rice) were very filling. Even with the help of my friend, who has a big appetite, I was still full. I highly recommend this restaurant for enjoying Kyoto to the fullest. I would love to come back here when I crave yudofu again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I received a beautiful flower as part of a kaiseki course featuring tofu hot pot. I was impressed by the elegant and delicate dishes. The subtle yet delicious flavors of Kyoto's cuisine, including the hot pot and tempura, left me completely satisfied despite the price. The meal was filling and satisfying. The garden was also spacious and beautiful.

The atmosphere of the shop is very Kyoto-like, entering from the garden. It's located right by Nanzenji Temple and is popular, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. The taste is really focused on tofu and soybeans, even the cheaper set is enough to give you a satisfying experience of eating Yudofu.

I stopped by after visiting Nanzen-ji Temple. The tofu milk that came out first was very delicious, and the white miso salad and simmered dishes were also really tasty. I was impressed by the high quality of food in Kyoto. The tempura was perfectly cooked with a sprinkle of salt, and the hot tofu and miso-grilled dishes, rice, and pickles were all delicious. And above all, this beautiful garden! It's the height of luxury to have a meal here. Thank you for the feast.

First time trying freshly made yuba! It was delicious, just as expected. I received unsweetened soy milk at first, but it tasted like tofu! Not soy milk! But it was tasty! I added some fresh fu because they had it. I also added some kamaboko. Ah, it was so delicious, yuba is amazing! The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great!

Impressive garden and shop layout. It was my third visit, and the first two times we had a large banquet in the hall, but this time it was just the two of us. The seating was a bit like a family restaurant, but the view of the garden was lovely. I felt that the traditional Kyoto atmosphere would have been better in the tatami room. The food was consistently good. The tofu hot pot was delicious as always. I always find the tofu pattern on the edge of the tatami entertaining.

The rich and sweet tasting Yudofu makes you forget about the cold. The set menu is a great deal with a variety of options to enjoy. The key is the right heat level, and it's great that the staff can help with that. The beautiful garden, combined with Nanzenji Temple, is wonderful. Yudofu is best enjoyed in winter for its atmosphere and flavor.
