■November 6, 2022 at Daikado, the best value Yokohama-style ramen at "Ikakuya"! http://blog.livedoor.jp/gakudai1/archives/86837838.html Yokohama-style Ramen Ikakuya (Daikado) Ikakuya is expanding its presence in the Tokyo area, and the Shiba Daikado branch is located in an area with many dining options. I arrived at 10:20 am on a holiday, with only one customer ahead of me. The interior of the restaurant, with counter and table seating, is casual and clean. The menu includes House Ramen for 820 yen, MAX Ramen for 1,100 yen, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen for 820 yen, Abura Soba for 820 yen, and Stamina Rice Bowl for 730 yen. - Rice is free (all-you-can-eat) from opening until 6:00 pm. - Registering as a member on the app gives you access to coupons. - Every 11th of the month is "Ikakuya Day" ⇒ House Ramen for 550 yen. This time, I ordered the smartphone coupon "House Ramen 550 yen" + 5 quail eggs for 120 yen = 670 yen. In the meantime, I helped myself to a large serving of rice. After a 5-minute wait, it was ready. Here you go! ...Boom!!! Wow, it looks so delicious! A Yokohama-style ramen served in a 20cm diameter bowl with toppings such as chashu, spinach, 3 sheets of seaweed, and 6 quail eggs! The toppings look abundant and appetizing! The rice I got myself is served in a 12cm diameter bowl, perfect for the generous serving of Yokohama-style ramen! I took a bite... Mmm! This is amazing! The rich soup with a layer of oil has a rich and mild flavor! The thick noodles have a chewy texture that complements the soup well! The chashu is tender and moist! Eating a spoonful of ramen followed by a bite of rice is incredibly delicious! I roll the seaweed soaked in soup and enjoy it! I quickly finished the first bowl of rice, but don't worry, rice is all-you-can-eat! I got a second bowl of rice and mixed it with the ramen for a delicious meal! I enjoyed every bite and finished it, feeling 110% satisfied. Thanks to the "House Ramen 550 yen coupon" and "rice all-you-can-eat," the cost performance was excellent! The restaurant is open every day from 10:00 am, making it very convenient to visit! - Don't forget to use the smartphone coupon when you visit the restaurant! There is a parking meter in front of the shop. Standard family ramen chain. When I first started eating family ramen and got hooked, I went to this chain and felt a bit off when I had their noodles, so I didn't have a great impression. But now, I actually enjoy the chewy texture of the noodles, similar to knife-cut noodles. I also love the chopped onion topping. I will definitely visit again. *By the way, on the same day, there was a slender OL lady eating ramen next to me, and she ate three bowls of rice. Amazing~

We have started serving a limited-time "Hiyashi Chuka"! The noodles are made with tapioca starch, giving them a chewy and smooth texture, and they are served with a slightly fruity vinegar soy sauce dressing. Toppings include chashu, menma, seasoned egg, and mizuna, all mixed together for a delicious experience. You can also add ginger and doubanjiang for extra flavor. As a side dish, you can choose between 4 or 8 pieces of freshly fried karaage. And if you order noodles, you can get a great deal on a set meal like the satisfying and delicious mentaiko rice bowl. It was a delightful meal with plenty of mentaiko.

I visited the Shibadaimon branch of Ikakuya near Daimon Station in Minato-ku, Tokyo. I had been working late and craving Yokohama-style ramen, so I decided to stop by. The Yokohama-style ramen at Ikakuya never disappoints, and I left feeling satisfied and happy. It turned out to be their first anniversary, so I got a great deal on my meal! On my second visit, they had a half-price beer promotion, so I couldn't resist ordering one.

On a holiday at 4:30 pm. No customers yet. The ramen shop has a rare system of paying after eating. I ordered the Salt Ramen with extra noodles and quail eggs. The noodles were thick like udon, with a low water content. They were a bit softer than I requested, making them more like udon. The broth was on the salty side as I asked, but the flavor was a bit dull. The char siu was thin and reminded me of the high-end cup noodles from convenience stores. The whole bowl was greasy and not wiped properly. Despite the imperfect meal, the friendly service from the foreign staff made me feel better. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

It's great that they are open until late, which is very convenient. I visited around 1 am on Christmas Eve. There is only one ramen shop open in this neighborhood, but I would choose this place over that one. There were 2 other customers and 2 staff members inside. I sat down and ordered from the menu. I tried the "Back Fat Miso Ichiro" (955 yen), Moyashi and Cabbage (210 yen), and Spicy Cod Roe Bowl (255 yen). When I heard the name "back fat," I just had to try it (^_^;) It arrived in about 7 minutes. The back fat was pretty good, but I wish they had added more (lol). Adding the moyashi and cabbage was a great choice. The noodles were medium thickness and common at Ichiro. The chopped ginger on the table was a nice touch! Adding grated garlic made it taste like Jiro-style ramen. The spicy cod roe bowl was good too, with tasty rice and decent cod roe. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

I visited around 24:30 on a regular day. There were about 4 groups of customers and it seemed like there was only one staff working. It took over 5 minutes to place the order. I ordered the large portion of chilled noodles (682 yen) with extra green onion and a green tea (164 yen). The chilled noodles could be chosen with soy sauce or sesame, so I chose the basic soy sauce. The green tea arrived first, in a large mug size which was nice. The dishes arrived in less than 10 minutes. The actual chilled noodles didn't look as appetizing as in the menu photo. The taste was a typical soy sauce flavor, without any spiciness. I added about three rounds of vinegar to adjust the taste. I felt like it needed ham and cucumber (laughs). The bamboo shoots and boiled egg were salty, and the watercress was bitter. The green onion and pork bowl was also quite salty, and I couldn't finish all the toppings. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered tsukemen and negi chashu don. The negi chashu don was very delicious, the combination of chili oil and green onions was amazing, but the tsukemen was, to be honest, just average. The negi chashu don is definitely worth trying at least once.

To relieve stress from work, I went to a ramen restaurant that offers unlimited rice refills. It's perfect for indulging in a big meal. The toppings weren't that great, so I recommend sticking with regular ramen and rice for the best value. (Photo is of the Max Ramen)

[Shiba Area Attack 33rd Restaurant] I stormed in at 12:12 on a weekday. The counter was full, but there were a few empty seats at a 4-person table. Since there was no specific guidance, I stood near the entrance waiting for my turn. A few more people arrived after me, and the entrance was crowded with the door chime constantly ringing, but the staff didn't seem to mind. After about 5 minutes, they finally said, "Please come this way," and led us to the empty 4-person table that had been available all along. The people who were waiting behind me were also seated at the same table to share. I thought it would have been better if they had just seated us together from the beginning, but I reconsidered that there might have been a reason for this. With limited time, I ordered the largest menu item, Shoyu Ichiro, with firm noodles. I requested the free chopped onions as indicated on the table. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the ramen was served. Although the wait was quite long, I assumed that the kitchen was probably very busy. The soup was delicious with a moderate richness, the noodles were tasty with just the right firmness, and the portion of toppings was satisfying. The chashu was too thin to taste much flavor, but I guessed that it was meant to be complemented by other ingredients. The piping hot temperature was great. I added 5 servings of chopped onions halfway through, mixed them in, and enjoyed them generously. As I was short on time, I had to skip the free rice and devoured the ramen at 1.7 times the normal speed, ready for some splashing broth, before rushing back to work. Thank you for the meal.

Today, there are hardly any restaurants open for lunch in Hamamatsucho on Sundays, so I went to "Ichikaku-ya" after a long time. I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" for ¥760, which comes with thick noodles by default. It includes quail egg, spinach, seaweed x3, and char siu. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about this well-known chain, but the raw onions and chopped ginger are good additions. Lastly, I enjoyed a bit of free rice with soup and sesame sprinkled on top. Thank you for the meal!

I tried the Ajitama Ramen at Ikakuya, a ramen chain. The noodles were thick and a bit powdery, but had a good chewiness. The soup was creamier than I expected and easy to drink, but it lacked depth of flavor. The toppings of seaweed, spinach, and chashu were tasty. The seasoned egg was good, but I could have done without the quail egg.

The tsukemen in large size for 790 yen. The shop seemed unappetizing so I opted for the tsukemen, but that was also a mistake. There were no shops open before 11 am, so I had no choice, but if I had waited until 11 am, it would have been better. The thick noodles came with bamboo shoots, green onions, char siu pork, chopped seaweed, and watercress. I tried changing the flavor with black vinegar and mayonnaise, but the mayonnaise was the worst. Rice was free, but there weren't many COVID-19 measures in place.

The cabbage was firm and lacking in flavor. The chashu had little presence and taste. The noodles were dull and lacked appeal. The soup was thin and lacked depth of flavor. The portion size was subtle and lacked a hearty feel. Priced at 890 yen, it was 48% more expensive than the 600 yen at the original Jiro ramen shop. Despite expecting a Jiro-style ramen based on the name and product photo, it was completely different. This was a regrettable mistake on my part. I reflect on this.

"Ikkaku-ya offers a variety of menu items within the ramen family. Currently, their recommended dish is the miso ramen, but you should also try the abura soba. The abura soba (regular size for 770 yen) is a typical style of oil-based ramen, but you can customize the flavor with table condiments, making it a satisfying and versatile choice. The chashu pork slices in their ramen are quite thick, so it might be tastier when chopped up like in the abura soba. The meat juice dumplings (6 pieces for 340 yen) are ordinary dumplings that pair well with the noodles. Although they may not be as juicy as the name suggests, they make a good side dish for your meal."

Had dinner in Hamamatsucho/ Daimon. The observation deck of the Trade Center Building in front of the station will close on 1/31. The building, which used to boast the tallest height in Japan, will be dismantled. Personally, this is a concern for me. The basement of the Trade Center Building already had only two tenants left, so I went elsewhere. I found a restaurant closer to Zojoji Temple. Right now, you can get a refill for only ¥10. They have lunch service, but this price for dinner is quite rare. It seems to be a temporary campaign. The tonkotsu ramen has a good, refreshing taste. ¥700 is a good price. It's nice that you can add onions as a topping.

When I come to Tokyo, I always crave ramen for some reason. On a Sunday before 3 PM, I found that many shops near Hamamatsucho were surprisingly closed. As I wandered around, I stumbled upon a Yokohama-style ramen shop, and there were no other customers there... in a way, it felt safe. I like Yokohama-style ramen for its rich soup, thick noodles, and especially the spinach. I really like it. I enjoy the rich soup of Yokohama-style ramen with plenty of chopped ginger, adding a touch of acidity. The Ajitama Ramen (large) was 1010 yen and it was delicious.

Yokohama-style ramen with "3 slices of chashu", "spinach", "flavored egg", "quail egg", and "seaweed" on top of the "MAX ramen" ♥️ Order the noodles firm ♥️ The unique creamy "pork bone soup" pairs well with the medium-thick curly noodles ♥️ The chashu slices are quite large and make a big impact ♥️ The classic spinach adds a nice bitterness that enhances the overall flavor of the ramen ♥️ The "Negi Chashu Men" has a spicy kick from the green onions that blends well with the soup ♥️ The table-side condiments like onions and minced ginger allow for easy customization of the flavor to suit your preferences ♥️ A great accompaniment is the "mentaiko rice" that pairs well with the soup ♥️ Enjoyed together, it was delicious ♥️

On Saturdays, I always go to "Ikakuya" in Hamamatsucho for lunch. They recently installed a foreign currency exchange machine outside the restaurant, as there are many foreign customers now. I usually order the "Shoyu Ramen" with seaweed coupon for 695 yen. It may not be a place for true ramen enthusiasts, but I enjoy adding plenty of raw onions and shichimi pepper, and changing the taste with vinegar halfway through. It's become quite addictive!

I returned to the hotel late at night and visited a ramen shop that was still open. They kindly gave me directions to this place, so I decided to check it out. As it was the last meal after drinking, I ordered the Ajitama Ramen, which I thought might have a creamy soup due to the "壱" in the name. However, it turned out to be a regular tonkotsu ramen. I ordered everything as usual, but asked for the noodles to be firm. The chashu was so round that it looked like ham! Overall, it was a normal meal without any standout points. Thank you for the food.

I had chilled Chinese noodles for lunch, which cost 750 yen including tax. The curly noodles were very firm and had a good chewy texture. It seems like they are custom-made according to the noodle making book. The toppings and flavors were decent, but the noodles were so delicious that I want to come back again. By the way, I ordered the regular size which is 140 grams, but you can upgrade to a large size of 240 grams for the same price.
