Keath
I come to Nanko for work, and when I have no specific plans in the afternoon, I like to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Hyatt Regency. I usually visit during weekdays in the daytime, and the number of customers is relatively low, making it quiet and conducive to enjoying a meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The cafe restaurant on the same floor tends to be crowded with housewives during lunchtime, but this restaurant offers a calm environment, perfect for enjoying a meal or conversation at a leisurely pace. I often visit alone, and the service is good, making it a comfortable place to be. Upon entering, you are asked if you prefer teppanyaki or Japanese cuisine. I have never tried the teppanyaki, but the Japanese cuisine section has a bright and spacious feel with a view of bamboo plants and natural light, providing a tranquil atmosphere. Lunch is only available in set courses, with no a la carte options. I usually visit during my off afternoons when I can enjoy a drink with my meal. On this day, I ordered the reasonably priced 2,700 yen course. I ordered a beer, but the staff recommended the "Kyoto Mugi Shuzo no Kahori" from Kiuchi Brewery. It is a beer made using sake yeast, giving it a slightly sake-like flavor and a refreshing taste, perfect for pairing with food. I tend to forget the details of the menu once I start eating and drinking. I focus on enjoying the delicious food in front of me. I started with the appetizer while enjoying another beer. Each dish tasted delicious, with a subtle umami flavor that indicated the quality of the Japanese cuisine. I finished the appetizer and ordered a sake, letting the staff choose a suitable brand for the sashimi course. They recommended a sake that paired well with the sashimi. By the time I finished the sashimi, the cooked dish and rice (with red miso soup and pickles) were served, and I was already in a good mood, eager to dig in before taking any photos. The menu features seasonal ingredients, offering a slightly luxurious lunch option that is worth the price considering the high-quality service you receive at a luxury hotel restaurant. Lunchtime allows for a casual and enjoyable dining experience, making it a great choice for those looking for a slightly indulgent meal. The restaurant's attentive service and relaxed atmosphere make it a pleasant place to dine.
