Terumon Jimon is a comedian who is known for his love of meat, but he also frequents famous sushi and Japanese restaurants. One of the restaurants he visited is a customizable meal shop recommended by Mairebi, where you can customize your meal with their famous mixed rice and side dishes. The prices can be a bit high, starting from around 400 yen for small dishes, so you should expect to pay over 2000 yen for a main dish, soup, side dish, and mixed rice. The mixed rice is delicious, with a perfect balance of saltiness and texture. The small dishes are also tasty, such as the taro on this particular day. The miso soup with clams was flavorful and well-prepared. The main dish, grilled fish, was a bit lacking in comparison to the other dishes, but it was still decent. Overall, it was a delicious and slightly heartwarming lunch, and definitely worth a visit for those who appreciate good food and serious dining experiences.

Big Kuro, which is currently only open during the day. I had always avoided it because there was always a long line, but this day there was no line so I walked in. I ordered cold tea, mixed rice, red miso soup with egg, and grilled mackerel. The total was 1,540 yen including tax. The mixed rice was the highlight of the meal at this restaurant. The grilled mackerel was of high quality and cooked well. Grated daikon with soy sauce for the mackerel. The red miso soup was served piping hot. The grilled mackerel on the mixed rice was a perfect combination. The ingredients were cut to the same size as the rice grains for a great texture. A delicious mixed rice set meal backed by solid skills. Since it was mackerel, I was able to get my EPA intake as well. It was nice to be able to talk to the lovely landlady on the way out. I should definitely come to this restaurant more often, but it's so popular that it's quite difficult. As I left the restaurant, a long line had formed in front of the shop.

I visited around 1:30 pm on a regular day. There were a few customers, but there was plenty of seating available. I had mixed rice with vegetables and grilled saury. The atmosphere was like an old-fashioned set meal restaurant, and the taste was simple and good.

Established in the 35th year of the Meiji era, this restaurant is famous for its kaya gohan (mixed rice with various ingredients) and beloved by many in Namba. Kaya Gohan (medium size) is 500 yen, White Miso with Egg is 300 yen, Saikyo-style Grilled Mackerel is 700 yen, and Egg Tofu is 350 yen. The kaya gohan is cooked in, and although it has a gentle flavor, it is not lacking in taste at all. It is perfectly seasoned, not too soft or too hard. I ordered the mackerel, which was slightly past its peak season, but it was still delicious with a tender texture and rich flavor. The miso soup was made with white miso, which was sweet and soothing. The egg tofu was also delightful with its soft and sweet taste. I highly recommend this place for those who want to enjoy Japanese cuisine for lunch or those who appreciate nostalgic restaurants. Make sure to check the restaurant's website or social media for the latest information before visiting, as menu items may have changed.

I was the only one waiting 10 minutes before the opening at 11:30 on a regular Friday. I ordered mixed rice with vegetables, white miso soup with egg, and grilled mackerel. The meal was served in about 10 minutes. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the meal itself had a sense of history. It was a great set meal for around 1,500 yen, but it may not be popular among young people looking for Instagram-worthy dishes. Overall, it was a wonderful restaurant, and I hope it continues to thrive for a long time.

The restaurant opened 10 minutes late at 11:30 AM with 3 groups of waiting customers. The delay felt twice as long for those who arrived early. The total cost was 2,860 yen including tax. The food was considered overpriced with no outstanding performance to justify the cost. The miso soup was too sweet, the pumpkin was tasty, the salt-grilled mackerel was good but slightly salty, the kinpira had an unusual addition of bamboo shoots, and the spinach had a very ordinary taste. The rice was cooked soft and had a fluffy texture, with added fried tofu and konjac.

It seems like a traditional old-fashioned shop. I ordered mixed rice with toppings, grilled salmon, and miso soup. The mixed rice had a good flavor, but the toppings were small and hard to identify. The grilled salmon was tasty, and so was the miso soup. However, the price for this meal was 1600 yen, which is quite expensive. It's best to understand that the high ratings for this place come from its historical value rather than just the taste of the food. It's a place where you should come to experience the atmosphere and ambiance, rather than just seeking a simple meal.

Having a history of over 100 years, the famous eatery "Daikoku" in Osaka Namba is a well-known place that everyone in Osaka knows about! Managed by elderly women, the restaurant is only open for 3 hours during the day, making it a bit difficult to visit. It is a place where younger people don't often visit, creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere for adults. The specialty dishes like mixed rice and simmered dishes may not be Instagram-worthy, but they are delicious. Visiting on a weekday during lunchtime, I saw mostly middle-aged businessmen and some tourists enjoying their meals quietly. The prices are reasonable. The ordering style has changed to ordering dishes individually, which may be a bit inconvenient and expensive. The mixed rice was flavorful and had a unique texture with various ingredients. The gentle seasoning and balanced flavors show the experience and history of the restaurant. Overall, Daikoku is a recommended place in Namba for traditional Japanese meals.

Hello ♪ It's Ramen Walking! Today is set meal day~ I had "Grilled Mackerel" at Daikoku in Namba. It was a lunch mini expedition... I found a renowned old-fashioned restaurant within reachable distance by train when I searched for set meals for lunch. Visited the place. Arrived at 12:10. There were 2 customers already inside. Looking at the menu, it seemed like their specialty was "mixed rice" and grilled fish... I ordered my preferred items. [Order] Mixed rice - 550 yen Grilled mackerel - 660 yen White miso soup (clams) - 385 yen Mixed Rice (medium) It has a unique color but the taste is good, similar to typical mixed rice and delicious. The seasoning is slightly light. Grilled Mackerel The grilled mackerel had a firm and bouncy texture. The thick flesh had bones properly removed and was deliciously fragrant. White Miso Soup It had a taste similar to miso soup with sake lees. It had a decently sized clam with soft flesh, very tasty. The seating is bench seats and sharing tables is common. It seems like a restaurant with history, but the taste was just okay. In the end, there were customers coming and going while I was there, but the maximum was 4 people. Thank you Daikoku for the meal! Today's steps: 11,700 steps Calories burned: 433 kcal

Located near Dotonbori in Namba, this long-standing establishment is famous for its "kayaku gohan" (mixed rice). It exudes a sense of history and charm. On a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm, I waited in line for about 20 minutes as there were three groups ahead of me. The small shop has a counter and tables, seating around 10 people. You can order individual items like rice, side dishes, and miso soup. The "kayaku gohan" comes in three sizes: large, medium, and small. I ordered the medium size, which was flavorful with a hint of dashi and paired well with the fish dishes. I also tried the delicious simmered flounder, octopus vinegar, simmered eggplant, and clam miso soup. The staff, mostly warm and friendly mothers, meticulously prepare the dishes and provide a cozy and welcoming atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle of Namba. I hope this charming restaurant continues to thrive for years to come.

I came here for the second time! No waiting in line, just walked in~♪ My first visit was during my quest to visit a hundred famous restaurants, so I was alone and had a lonely meal with just grilled mackerel with salt and boiled spinach... This time, I wasn't alone, so I added some sea bream, seasoned vegetables, and rice with pickled vegetables on the side (*´ω`*) They serve in small dishes, making it easy to share and enjoy a low-carb meal. The grilled mackerel was firm and perfectly cooked, really delicious and I love it♡♡♡ It might be recommended for those on a diet!! I often go to Namba but have a hard time making it to Daikoku-san. I really wanted to have clam soup! So I came alone, but they still weren't open even at 11:30... They started seating customers at 33 minutes past the hour... Inside, there were middle-aged and elderly women running the place. Today, the lady in the back seemed strict, while the one in the front seemed kind, making the soup. They only bring your order once everything is ready, so it's like a set meal restaurant. If you order grilled or simmered fish, you might have to wait a while. The basic options are small, medium, or large rice, along with side dishes, grilled fish, and simmered fish. The soup comes with tofu, egg, or clams, in either red miso, white miso, or clear broth. I ordered: simmered burdock root for about 400 yen, boiled komatsuna greens for about 400 yen, small rice with extra ingredients (forgot the price, around 400 yen), clam soup (forgot the price, around 350 yen), and a packed lunch with assorted side dishes (forgot the price, around 1296 or 1300 yen). I brought my own bag, so that was good. The total came to 3109 yen. My order was just side dishes, rice, and soup, so it came out quickly. The hot soup can only be enjoyed at the restaurant. The clam soup had a strong broth and was delicious. Next time, I'll try the red miso or white miso clam soup. When I opened the lid of the rice, I could smell the seaweed. The rice with extra ingredients was delicious, with finely chopped ingredients like konjac and fried items. The simmered burdock root was slightly sweet, and the boiled komatsuna greens had a gentle soy sauce flavor. The traditional flavors at this place are truly special. I couldn't resist enjoying the rice and side dishes at home too. It was delicious! I'll definitely visit again.

I started a gourmet site for Mitomi Emon. Visiting the long-established Japanese restaurant "Daikoku" founded in Meiji 35, it seems to be named after Daikoku-sama, with a picture of a mallet drawn on the noren at the entrance of the old-fashioned building. The 120-year history is a symbol of bringing wealth, and you can customize it to your liking! The system allows you to choose the main dish and soup based on the famous mixed rice. The famous dish that has been loved for a long time has a very gentle taste, probably due to Osaka's culture of light dashi. The ingredients are finely chopped to the point where they are not visible, adding a hint of flavor. Although not the main point, the aroma of powdered seaweed floats gently. I chose the "grilled salmon" as the main dish. It is lightly salted, so you can mainly taste the flavor of the salmon. You can enjoy the crispy skin and the flavorful fatty meat that is lightly grilled. Personally, I found it a bit too mild, so I used soy sauce. I had clam soup in the bowl. The sharp saltiness and the delicious flavor of the clams balanced out the overall taste. Thank you for the meal.

Old restaurants are really great after all. Among them, I really like traditional set meal restaurants and diners. The old-fashioned set meal restaurants in Nagoya have almost disappeared, but there are still plenty of wonderful old-fashioned restaurants in Osaka and Tokyo. This place is one of them. I usually order the same menu. Mixed rice with vegetables, simmered flounder, miso soup, simmered hijiki seaweed, grated yam. I tend to order a lot, so my lunch ends up being a bit more expensive, but I am completely satisfied. The food is delicious and I love the atmosphere. Whenever I come here, I feel like I've arrived in Osaka. I want to keep coming back here whenever I'm nearby.

Founded in 1872, "Daikoku" is a long-standing Japanese restaurant located in Dotonbori, Osaka. It has been selected as one of the top 100 set meal restaurants on Tabelog and is beloved by locals. The restaurant is open from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm for 3 hours, and reservations are not accepted. The specialty of "Daikoku" is the "kayaku gohan" (mixed rice). The sizes available are large for 600 yen, medium for 500 yen, and small for 400 yen. You can choose between white miso and red miso soup, and add-ons such as clams for 350 yen, tofu for 300 yen, and egg for 300 yen. The common way to enjoy a meal here is to order the main kayaku gohan and miso soup, then choose your favorite side dishes to create your own set meal. While it is a Japanese restaurant, it might be more accurate to categorize it as a set meal restaurant. In the kitchen and dining area, the staff, mostly older women, work efficiently and chat in the Kansai dialect. During my visit, I ordered a medium kayaku gohan, white miso soup with egg, and grilled horse mackerel. The kayaku gohan was topped with finely chopped seaweed, and the rice was perfectly cooked and moist. The ingredients like fried tofu and konjac were finely chopped, enhancing the flavor of the rice. The white miso soup with a half-cooked egg was a perfect complement to the kayaku gohan. Although the prices may be slightly higher compared to major chain restaurants, the quality justifies the cost. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

A traditional set meal restaurant in Namba that has been around for a long time. Visited around 12 o'clock and miraculously got seated without waiting due to the number of people. Ordered mixed vegetable rice (small) with red miso, tofu, and grilled mackerel. The total was 1,485 yen. As mentioned in other reviews, it may be a bit pricey, but it is worth it for a healthy set meal. The taste is calming and nostalgic, and the small side dishes are interesting as they are tailored to personal preferences. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. I hadn't had the chance to go until now, when I visited for the first time with a senior colleague for lunch. We arrived at the restaurant around 12 o'clock on a weekday, so we were prepared to wait, but there was only one group ahead of us, so we were able to be seated smoothly. The inside of the restaurant is filled with a nice smell of fish. This time, I had a hard time deciding, but I chose the grilled salted saury. The fish that arrived was perfectly cooked. The signature dish of mixed rice with vegetables had a refined seasoning that harmonized well with the fish. There are also plenty of other menu options, so I will try them next time. Thank you for the meal.
