牛丼仮面
On this day, I had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Ginpei. I have visited the main store in Wakayama, as well as the Kitashinchi and Shinsaibashi stores, but this Dotonbori store is my first visit. This time, I will be having the reliable Sea Bream Rice Course. The Sea Bream Rice Course costs 6600 yen (tax included) and includes:
- Appetizers: Vinegar-marinated Persimmon and Chrysanthemum Greens, Mashed Sweet Potato, Squid Sushi, and Fried Squid with Squash. These four dishes go well with beer, as expected from Ginpei. The Squid Sushi was especially delicious.
- Assorted Sashimi: The sashimi included Beltfish, Flounder, Red Snapper, Scallop, and Bonito. Except for the Scallop, most of them are likely from the nearby waters of Wakayama. They were all delicious.
- Soup: Steamed Scallop with Yuzu Citrus. Pouring the vinegar citrus on top of the scallop added a delightful flavor to the broth.
- Fish Dish: A flagship simmered fish dish using Amami Island's Fuefuki Dai. The simple use of soy sauce and water brought out the maximum flavor of the fish.
- Homemade Tofu: This tofu has become a familiar dish at Ginpei, known for its rich soybean flavor and sweetness.
- Tempura Assortment: Beltfish, Pumpkin, Lotus Root, and String Beans. The Beltfish was particularly delicious, especially when eaten with salt.
- Sea Bream Rice: The highlight of Ginpei, the Sea Bream Rice, was superb, with each grain of rice infused with the flavor of the sea bream.
- The course ended without dessert. I also tried the local sake from Wakayama, such as the Zaga Zoku and Sanjurokuninshu, which paired well with the fish dishes.
While Ginpei always delivers delicious fish dishes, I found the staff's slightly hectic and rushed service a bit disappointing this time. They were speaking too quickly, making it difficult to understand the dish explanations, and they cleared the plates even when there was still food left. Therefore, I rated them a bit harshly on this aspect. I hope this feedback can be useful for Ginpei fans in the future. Thank you for the meal.
