When walking from the station to the shopping street, I noticed a new roasted pork shop, and it's also a standing bar. The skewers seemed a bit overcooked to me. I wonder if a casual standing bar like this will become popular in this town, but the friendly staff and the casual atmosphere make it a nice place to drop by for a quick drink.

I have been interested in this place for two years, and today I purchased some grilled pork takeout! It reminds me of the taste from my hometown in Higashimatsuyama with the spicy miso sauce. The quality is really high. The pig's head meat is especially delicious. ✌️

During my absence from Higako in January 2018, a new standing bar opened up. It consists of one male grill chef and a few female floor staff. For my first visit, I ordered a set of drinks and skewers. The skewer set (¥1000) includes one glass of draft beer, 5 meat skewers, and 1 vegetable skewer. The grill chef brings out the skewers one or two at a time, and although he grills them strongly, the meat retains its flavor. The female floor staff seemed to be from the WAI group, while the grill chef was quiet and dedicated to his craft. If you have the chance, give it a try. Skewers range from ¥150 to ¥130, and they also offer oden, side dishes, and set menus.

I recently found out that there is a standing bar for grilled pork skewers in Higashi-Koganei, so I went there right away. The interior of the shop is a standing bar style with a counter and tables. It looks like a bar at first glance. I ordered a set of 5 skewers and beer for 1000 yen. The beer was Black Label. It's a shame that it wasn't served in a beer mug, but it was a delicious draft beer with a creamy foam. The appetizer was cabbage for 150 yen. All the skewers were salt-flavored. The pork intestines had no odor and were juicy. It was disappointing that the liver was sold out that day. I'll order it next time. For the second drink, I had a homemade lemon sour for 390 yen. It was delicious. I ended up ordering another one and drinking it quickly. The staff that day were all women and provided polite service, making it a pleasant experience to drink. However, the entrance to the shop was left open, so it was a bit cold. It might be better to keep your coat on while drinking. Also, it's rare for a grilled pork skewer shop to be non-smoking! Smoking is only allowed outside. As someone who doesn't like cigarettes much, this was good news for me.

On the way back from Higako with my family, we bought some roast pork for dinner. We purchased various cuts such as harami, fillet, sirloin, cheek, and tongue, as we enjoyed harami at the summer festival recently. The pork seemed a bit overcooked, but the garlic miso sauce that came with it was delicious and paired well with beer, making it perfect for a late summer evening drink.
