• Chestnut Mont Blanc 580 yen • Cake End Pack 250 yen Located in Katsushika, Tokyo, this cake specialty shop "Patisserie N Kotobuki" is just a 3-minute walk from Keisei Tateishi Station! This time, I bought two items: the Chestnut Mont Blanc and the Cake End Pack. The Chestnut Mont Blanc is a large round cake coated with chestnut cream made from chestnuts! Inside, there are layers of chestnut cream, whipped cream sponge, and more! The chestnut cream is rich and flavorful, but the sponge is a bit hard, making it difficult to bite through along with the fluffy cream. The Cake End Pack is exactly what it sounds like - cake ends packed together. I tried the roll cake and chocolate cake this time, and while the packing of the chocolate cake was a bit messy, it also included cream, giving it a good value! The cakes at this shop are all visually appealing and really caught my eye!

I had some business to attend to and come to Keisei Tateishi regularly, so I wanted to find a favorite shop. I saw a cute exterior and decided to stop by. I bought a chocolate cake and a raspberry macaron. The cake was rich in chocolate flavor with a crispy texture, very delicious and not too heavy as I expected! The macaron was larger and just the right size for a snack. It had a sweet and sour taste with a chewy and crispy texture, so delicious that I definitely decided to come back again! (I forgot to take a picture)

The nearest station is Keisei Tateishi Station, and this bakery is located along Okudo Kaido Street, just beyond the arcade! Although it is a cake shop, they also have a decent selection of bread, although the variety is somewhat limited. I chose some items that seemed new to me, purchased them quickly, and took them home to try. Now, onto the taste test... 【Keema Curry Bun】The bread itself seems quite oily, but the keema curry inside was delicious. I wish the bread had a crispier texture, though. 【Walnut Raisin Couque】This bread has a strong walnut flavor, but the occasional sweetness from the raisins adds a nice touch. 【Choux Rusk】I may just be uninformed, but it seems like everything in the bread industry is turning into rusk. I tried this choux cream rusk, and it was surprisingly good. It's on the sweeter side, but dipping it in unsweetened yogurt toned down the sweetness and gave it a cheesecake-like taste. I feel like there are many ways to customize this, and personally, I wish it had a texture somewhere between crispy and crunchy. There are still many types of bread and cakes available, so I may introduce more in the future.

This is a pastry shop in Keisei Tateishi! I recently noticed that they also sell bread, so I decided to try it out. They have a variety of bread options, which was a surprise to me. I bought a croissant, walnut roll, and chocolate ring, and also discovered a "corner pack" which had slices of fruit roll cakes. The croissant had a nice buttery flavor but was a bit tough. The walnut roll was soft and pleasant, but not very memorable. The chocolate ring was my favorite, despite being a bit oily. The corner pack was a mix of fruit roll cakes, which were tasty but lacked cream. Overall, the shop has a variety of pastries to try, so I might visit again in the future.

Inside the store, there are various types of bread, cakes, chocolates, and cookies, making it difficult to decide what to choose. I purchased a meat pie, Katsushika sablé, and Katsushika Japanese-style donut. The Katsushika Japanese-style donut was very delicious. It wasn't greasy and tasted like a baked donut. Next time, I would like to try their cakes.

I came to Keisei Tateishi for shopping and bought a cake for souvenirs. I wanted to take a photo of the exterior, but there were always people around, making it difficult to capture a clear shot. The customers are mostly elderly, and the shop is very popular. Inside, elderly customers often pay over 2000 yen in coins, causing chaos as the next customer's cake is being packed and paid for. The shop offers a wide variety of cakes, including some unique options not typically found in local cake shops. The prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to famous patisseries in Tokyo. The cakes are well-packaged and sturdy, despite the low prices. The Paris-Brest Chocolat (400 yen before tax) had a chocolate choux pastry filled with chocolate custard, cream, and strawberries. It had a gentle and familiar taste, suitable for all ages. The Pomme (400 yen before tax) featured apple mousse, black tea mousse, caramelized apples, and a red glaze coating. It had a distinct apple and tea flavor, with a balanced sweetness. Both cakes were light and airy, with a good balance of flavors. The shop's popularity is well-deserved due to its affordable prices and delicious cakes that appeal to a wide range of customers.

This is a long-established cake shop in Keisei Tateishi. When I was a child, cakes meant either this place or a shop with a famous character that has now closed. It's my first time visiting in a while, or rather, my first visit where I bought something with my own money. I stopped by because I saw a sign for shaved ice, but ended up buying more than just that. The shaved ice was impressive, but I wondered if there was a place to eat inside the shop. Turns out, there isn't, so I sat outside to eat. I chose strawberry with condensed milk as a topping. The shaved ice was well-made, but the amount of syrup was lacking, especially at the bottom. I was a bit disappointed by that. The cakes I bought were kept inside while I ate the shaved ice outside. The strawberry shortcake had a nice balance of sweetness, while the Mont Blanc had chopped chestnuts inside. The cream puff had a crispy shell and creamy custard filling, and the custard pudding was simple and delicious. Overall, the shop has a local, hometown feel and I hope it continues to thrive.

I purchased two pastries from the popular patisserie "Kotobuki" which had a limited-time pop-up shop at the Shapo in my local station, Koiwa Station. I don't remember the names of the products, but both were around 400 yen each. Since I am not in a position to comment on the taste, I will paste a copy from "suumo Journal" introducing Chef Kamiya from "Kotobuki". http://suumo.jp/journal/2013/01/11/36273/ "Chef Kamiya Profile" Born in Tokyo in 1978. After studying language in Aix-en-Provence, France, he enrolled in the pastry chef course at the professional school Ecole Ferandi in Paris and graduated. He then obtained a CAP (French National Vocational Qualification) in pastry. From 1999, he trained at Patisserie Jacques in Mulhouse, Alsace. Upon returning to Japan, he worked at Mont Saint Clair Patisserie and as the head of the Confiture H Atelier. In 2007, he became the pastry chef at Patisserie Kotobuki.

☆Strawberry Shortcake (420 yen) A fluffy sponge cake with fine texture, topped with whipped cream and strawberries! ☆Fruit Tart (460 yen) A combination of sponge cake, whipped cream, custard cream, and a variety of fruits such as strawberries, kiwi, and peaches, beautifully arranged with colorful presentation. ☆Mont Blanc (450 yen) Delicious! I really liked it! It has a good height. The base is not a cookie crust, but rather a sponge-like texture with a hint of liquor. Decorated with chestnut paste, sliced chestnuts, a generous amount of whipped cream, and chestnut cream. ☆Cream Puff with Custard Filling (200 yen) Filled with plenty of yellow custard cream. ☆Chocolate Brick (400 yen) Coated with nuts and crispy chocolate on the outside. It may be difficult to eat neatly. Inside, it has a combination of sponge cake and chocolate mousse.

I went to Keisei Tateishi Station to experience hand-cut soba. It was my first time getting off there, so I walked around looking and found this shop. Inside the shop, there were various types of bread, cakes, and baked goods displayed. The baked goods were also beautifully wrapped for gifts. There were pictures of birthday cakes displayed in the shop, and it seems you can request character-themed cakes like Anpanman, Yo-Kai Watch, or Disney. After wandering around the shop, I finally chose and purchased a few cakes and baked goods. [Cakes] - Strawberry Tart (450 yen): Decorated with strawberries and whipped cream on a tart crust. I really liked it! It was very delicious. The tart crust was thick and crispy. There were plenty of strawberries and cream. - King of Strawberries (480 yen): There were more strawberries in this cake than in a shortcake. The sponge cake and whipped cream were delicious. I was happy to see so many strawberries. - Fluffy Cheesecake (140 yen): A small cheesecake in an oblong shape, about the size of two bites. It was really fluffy and creamy. It had a light texture and was delicious. - Katsushika Potato (price not mentioned): Rich and very delicious. It was sweet. [Baked Goods] - Galette (170 yen): A thick cookie made with plenty of fermented butter. - Financier (180 yen): The rich flavor of burnt butter and almonds spread out. I warmed it up for about 20 seconds. It was fluffy and had a great aroma, very delicious. - Katsushika-style Donut (165 yen): A moist and healthy donut baked in the oven with a brown sugar flavor.

My niece is turning 1 year old, so I purchased a birthday cake. They offer a free chocolate plate with a message and for an additional fee, you can add macarons on top of the whole cake. They can even draw faces on the macarons for free. I bought the Everest No. 5 whole cake (3,600 yen) with 2 macarons (180 yen each). It's a rare cheesecake decorated for birthdays. The taste was better with just the Everest cake, but it's great for events and everyone loved the macarons. I also tried the Savarin featured on "Ariyoshi-kun no Shojiki Sanpo" show. It's a brioche dough soaked in rum with cream and various fruits. It has a refreshing citrus flavor and is easy to eat despite the alcohol content. It's definitely a top-notch dessert. I visited Kotobuki, a well-known long-established Western confectionery store in Tateishi. They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. I was inspired to visit after watching a TV program featuring their Kotobuki Roll and Savarin. I bought the popular Everest cake, mixed sandwich, and sausage roll. The Everest cake was delicious with a tart base, sponge cake, cheesecake, strawberries, and blueberries. The tart base was sweet like a cookie. The mix sandwich had a simple and nostalgic taste, while the sausage roll was decent but not as impressive as the cakes. Overall, Kotobuki offers high-quality cakes worth trying. Original post in May 2013, updated in August and September 2015.

About a 5-minute walk from Keisei Tateishi Station, heading south down the stairs and turning right at the corner of the FamilyMart, this shop is located on the left side around the area where the street intersects. While Keisei Tateishi is known for its offal shops in the shopping street, this shop is also well-known for its sweets. The shop is relatively small and has a traditional atmosphere. The sweets on display seemed to have a traditional touch, but there were also some unique items, so I decided to buy a few. The "Takumi Pudding" (200 yen) was a simple pudding with a rich sweetness that I personally enjoyed. The "Tateishi Chiffon" (130 yen) was also simple but satisfying for the price. The "Uji Matcha" (400 yen) had a refreshing matcha mousse that paired well with the red bean paste, whipped cream, and chestnut on top, creating a perfect balance of sweetness. It was quite filling and satisfying. While the shop mainly offers simple, unadorned sweets, I believe the quality is quite high.

I love the baked goods here and often buy rusk or cookies for home use. This time, I bought the long-awaited "Chocolat Bear" as a souvenir for a friend's house. It costs 1800 yen. Every time I go, I've been curious about that bear for a long time! It seems to be a chocolate cake made with authentic Belgian chocolate. I cut into the bear's face at my friend's house... The ears are macarons flavored with chocolate. The white part of the face is probably buttercream. The inside is like a chocolate sponge? The cake is like a chocolate gateau with lots of chocolate pieces inside. It was a bit too sweet for me... I would have preferred a more bitter taste with orange peel or something, but when I mentioned it to my friend, they said this level of sweetness is good for kids. It seems that a Santa Bear will appear for Christmas. This shop comes up with various ideas for each season, like a set of baked goods in the shape of a daruma for New Year's, heart-shaped macarons for Valentine's Day, and baked goods in a pig-shaped incense holder for August. There are many fun things to buy. The shop is currently undergoing renovations and is operating in a temporary location. I'll also upload a photo of a Christmas cake I bought here in the past~\(^-^)/

I really like the tiramisu at this place. It has a delicious macaron on top, and the chocolate accents in the glass dish make it look really nice. The cream puff is rich with custard cream and has a crispy pastry. The grapefruit jelly is very juicy and refreshing, with lots of grapefruit chunks giving it a nice volume. I don't get to go often, but I'd love to try more of their cakes and pastries.
