We had a gathering at a restaurant in Nakano-Sakaue, an area not often chosen for drinking parties. A friend was coming to Tokyo, so we decided to meet up. We were originally looking for a place in Shinjuku, but most places had time limits on Fridays. Since our meeting times were different, we expanded our search and found this restaurant in Nakano-Sakaue. It's conveniently located near the Oedo Line and Marunouchi Line, making it accessible for everyone. We didn't need a drink-all-you-can option since we were all middle-aged men, so we enjoyed catching up over delicious food and good drinks. The menu had a variety of dishes, from light snacks to oden and motsunabe, catering to different preferences. The standout dish was the grilled cod milt, made with Hokkaido-sourced milt cooked on kelp, giving it a unique and delicious flavor. Pairing it with sake made us feel happy and content. The restaurant had a wide selection of sake displayed, making it exciting to choose our next drink. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great restaurant near Nakano-Sakaue station. If we have another drinking event in the Shinjuku area, we will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I attended a gathering hosted by Enishi after a long time, featuring Rumiko's sake and surrounded by the toji of Moriki Sake Brewery. The venue was filled with Japanese sake fans. I quickly bonded with the person sitting next to me through sake talk and had a great time. We tried various sake, from standard ones to doburuko and limited edition ones. Once we finished tasting, we had a great time with our favorite sake. You can request hot sake or warm sake. The gourmet food included local specialties like Tsu gyoza, ton teki, and Ise udon, as well as Enishi's regular menu. We could talk directly to the brewery staff, participate in a lottery for valuable goods, and had a lot of fun. If you're interested, check the restaurant's Instagram for announcements.

I haven't been around this area (Nakano-Sakaue) much, so when I felt like drinking, I found a nice place on the second floor near Naruko-Sakashita! Let's go! The interior of the restaurant has an interesting counter design with a wide selection of Japanese sake and shochu, making it a great place for drinkers. I didn't know what to order, but I went with the Juyondai sake, which was amazing! From sashimi to namerou, oden, snacks, and even hot pot, it was all so enjoyable! The place quickly filled up with more customers, and the staff were very knowledgeable about Japanese sake. It's a wonderful place that gives you the courage to come back again!

I had been thinking of coming to this restaurant many times, and finally made my first visit! The fact that sashimi is served as a complimentary appetizer is a big plus! They have a wide variety of drinks, including shochu which you can keep a bottle of, which is very convenient. The food menu is also extensive, and everything I tried was delicious. They have winter dishes like oden, everyone's favorite chicken karaage, and also octopus karaage! The dish that I thought had great value for money was definitely the "liver and garlic stir-fry"!

Monday, 10 degrees Celsius, sunny. I entered the restaurant at 11:36 and there were no other customers. Since I was alone, I was directed to the counter seat and sat down. The restaurant had an open kitchen style and a spacious interior. I decided to go for the Ma La Lu Rou Fan for ¥900, hoping it wouldn't be too spicy. I poured myself some ice water and waited. After 2 minutes, my order arrived - Ma La Lu Rou Fan, a mini salad, konjac stew, pickled Chinese cabbage, and a miso soup with bean sprouts overflowing. The dish was slightly spicy. There were 3 other customers in the quiet restaurant, and I could hear the staff chatting. It felt like a Chinese kitchen in the middle of the city.

This izakaya has been open for a solid 3 years as of July 2020. The layout is unique, with the kitchen in the back, a large circular counter in the middle, and table seating in the front. It may have been renovated from a previous establishment. The standout feature here is the delicious daily recommendations and wide variety of classic menu items. They offer a diverse range of dishes from seafood to offal, all prepared at a high level for an izakaya. The sake recommendations are excellent, and they also have a selection of rare and delicious shochu like Kenbishi. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making it a top-notch izakaya in the Nakano-Sakaue area where you can't go wrong with anything you order.

Located about a 3-minute walk from Nakano-Sakaue Station, this restaurant is known for its braised pork rice. I love braised pork rice, so I visited for lunch. The regular braised pork rice was quite sweet and delicious, but lacked impact. So, I decided to try the spicy braised pork rice, which turned out to be very spicy and left me sweating. I noticed they have a wide variety of Japanese sake, so I plan to visit again for drinks in the evening.

I visited a restaurant that I've been curious about, known for their Lulohan dishes. For lunch, I ordered the Mille-Feuille Cutlet Set for 850 yen. Originally planning to have Lulohan, I ended up changing my order to the Mille-Feuille Cutlet based on the staff's suggestion. However, the cutlet didn't really feel like a mille-feuille as the crispy coating was more prominent than the meat inside. It seemed like I wasn't really eating meat. Another menu fail for me today. On the bright side, the miso soup was filled with plenty of ingredients and you can get a free extra serving of rice. The restaurant was packed with local office workers and OLs, so I feel like you need to try something else on the menu to truly appreciate this place. I should have definitely ordered a regular menu item. The grilled mackerel set that the person next to me was having looked really delicious. Next time, I'll go for the Lulohan or the grilled mackerel for sure.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Nakano-Sakaue Station, heading down the hill towards Nishi-Shinjuku, you will find this hidden gem of an izakaya. The posters inside the restaurant promote oden, sake, and seafood. With little expectations, I ordered the spicy mapo tofu rice set. It turned out to be surprisingly delicious, and the hospitality was exceptional! There was nothing particularly special, but they provided thoughtful touches like a basket for storing bags and a place to hang coats. When taking our order, they also offered recommendations and asked about portion sizes. It just felt really nice. I might end up becoming a regular here.

I went to Nakano-Sakaue for lunch after a long time and was wondering what to eat. I decided to order the Loco Moco set meal for 800 yen. After a few minutes of waiting, the set meal arrived. It included miso soup, pickles, salad, and the main dish, Loco Moco rice. The Loco Moco rice had a delicious combination of chewy soft-boiled egg, pickled ginger, and mustard greens. When mixed together well, it was a dish that you could easily finish in no time.

Nakano Sakagami is a cozy izakaya located right next to Life supermarket, offering a wide selection of delicious Japanese sake and a variety of snacks that pair well with the sake. I used to attend events organized by the brewery at this place, but this time I visited on a regular day. The restaurant has counter seats, table seats, and sunken kotatsu seats perfect for gatherings. I went with my family, so we sat at the counter. We ordered a draft beer and checked out the recommended dishes on the blackboard and menu. We couldn't decide as everything seemed perfect with sake, so we ended up ordering dishes like white liver sashimi, liver steak, and potato salad with iburi-gakko. As we enjoyed our beer, a sashimi platter was served as a complimentary dish! Later on, I enjoyed my favorite sake from Kanagawa, Zankoyama Takashi Shuzo's Zanso Horai, along with various snacks. The liver steak was cooked right in front of us on a hot plate and was served piping hot. We also tried dishes like namero and fried white bamboo shoots with a meat-like texture and a pleasant aroma. Time flew by quickly as we enjoyed our meal. It's a popular spot among regular customers, but it's nice to have such a cozy izakaya in the neighborhood.

After nearly a year, I visited this izakaya in Nakano-Sakaue once again! This time, I ordered the 4,000 yen course. The order included: Miura vegetable pickles, Chicken and vegetable grated salad, Amberjack namero, Caesar salad, Young chicken karaage, Tochio deep-fried tofu with meat miso, Beef tendon simmered in salt, and Lu Rou Fan (Taiwanese braised pork over rice). The meal started with the refreshing pickles, followed by the delicious namero with chopped green onions and amberjack. The Caesar salad with warm egg and dressing was a great combination. The young chicken karaage was crispy and juicy, a must-try. The Tochio deep-fried tofu with meat miso was a unique dish with crispy tofu and flavorful meat miso. The beef tendon simmered in salt was hearty and satisfying. For the finale, we had the special Lu Rou Fan, which was a perfect way to end the meal.

This is part of the Nakano Sakagami development. Located in a building with several restaurants, I visited around 11:30 am with no customers before and 2 customers after me. They offer about 10 lunch menu options with a variety of choices such as negitoro, chicken, mackerel, mapo tofu, and braised pork on rice. I played it safe and ordered the fried chicken, which came with a free extra serving of rice. The food was served in about 10 minutes, with 4-5 large pieces of fried chicken. The surface of the fried chicken was quite hard, giving a manly texture to both the coating and some parts of the meat. The center was tender chicken thigh meat. The seasoning was a bit light for my taste, I prefer fried chicken with a stronger flavor and a bit rare. The potato salad seemed homemade and was tasty. The miso soup had a red miso base, giving it a unique flavor. Overall, the meal was decent, although lacking a standout feature. Other customers ordered a variety of dishes, but it seemed like the fish dishes were popular.

The flavor is light, the rice is small, and the four small pieces of fried chicken are like simple fried chicken. It's easy to see why this is popular with female customers.

The sake was delicious and the food was also tasty! It's a bit sad that they only open on weekdays, but maybe that's also a good thing.

I had the spicy mapo tofu rice. The portion was a bit small, so getting a large size might have been better. It was a spicy and flavorful mapo tofu rice.

This is a place where you can casually drop by after work and enjoy delicious meals and drinks. They always have a wide selection of Japanese sake, and they will recommend based on your preferences. They offer a variety of snacks and hearty meals to go with your drinks. There are daily specials featuring seasonal dishes, so you never get bored. The manager is also a really nice person. I love the atmosphere and menu so much that I have visited many times, but I will miss it as I am moving away and won't be able to easily stop by. I hope to visit and relax on weekends in the future!

I go about 4 times a week. They have a wide variety of sake, around 200 types! I'm not a very picky eater, but everything tastes delicious. In addition to sake, the food like oden, shirako, grilled fish, and namero are also very tasty. The manager and staff are all very nice and provide a fun atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a year-end party. They remembered that we wanted to quietly drink beforehand and set up the seats accordingly, which was nice. The restaurant was bright and bustling with customers. The food was delicious. I thought the atmosphere of the restaurant, where you can casually drop by, was good.
