A very high-quality domestic eel whole fish bowl with a single eel at an unbelievably reasonable price can be enjoyed at the restaurant "Isshiki Sanchi Yaki Unagi Fukunoshiro". The location is about a 6-minute walk from JR Osaka Loop Line Fukushima Station, in the Sagisu 2-chome area of Fukushima Ward's Seiten Street Shopping District. The exterior exudes a sense of luxury. The traditional Japanese interior has an elegant atmosphere. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will see a large water tank with many lively eels welcoming you. While waiting for the eel bowl, they brought out crispy eel bone senbei with tea, which was delicious. The special eel bowl features a large eel served whole on top of the bowl, which is quite impressive! The bowl may seem small, but it's actually on the larger side, with the eel overflowing on both sides. Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming trying to figure out where to start, but once you take a bite, you'll enjoy the crispy skin, fluffy meat, and the melt-in-your-mouth fatty flavor of the eel, thanks to their meticulous grilling technique. The secret sauce is light and pairs well with the fatty eel, making it easy to eat multiple bowls of rice with just the sauce alone. In these times of high eel prices, the fact that you can enjoy a domestic eel whole fish bowl with one eel, along with liver and pickles, at this price is incredibly affordable! We went to a delicious fugu restaurant in Osaka, treated by my wife. The restaurant is located in a shopping street and is known for its eel dishes, but on this day we had fugu. We were seated in a private room on the second floor. The dishes we had included simmered fugu, fugu skin in hot water, grilled fugu, fugu tempura, fugu soup with rice, and fugu ice cream. The ponzu sauce had a mild acidity which complemented the fugu well. The grilled fugu had a delicious flavor that didn't taste like it was farmed. I found that farmed fugu can also be tasty. You can choose between grilled fugu bones or meat, and we chose the bones. Grilling the bones ourselves over charcoal allowed us to enjoy the fragrant aroma of the fugu. I personally prefer grilled fugu when it comes to eating fugu. The tempura was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, a delightful dish. The fugu soup with rice was also delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I visited the restaurant because I heard they offer an eel course in Aichi. It was a full course of eel, but to be honest, all of them made me go "hmm!" The final eel rice bowl lacked enough grilling, so it didn't have the crispy texture and, most importantly, the sauce was disappointing. Maybe it's because I usually eat eel in Aichi, or maybe I had too high expectations, but if it's from Isshiki, I wish they would put in a little more effort. This review is given with high expectations.

I stopped by for lunch. There were several types of eel rice bowls to choose from, but I decided to go with the "Mini Hitsumamushi" because it was labeled as a "specialty." When it comes to eating eel, you usually have to be prepared to spend around 3000 to 4000 yen, but this one was only 2800 yen! What a great deal. Even though it was a "mini" size, it was delicious and filled me up. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had eel with a friend who came from Tokyo. I had eaten eel before at this restaurant and it was so delicious, so I was sure that the eel would be amazing too! I was right to choose it. We ordered the 6400 yen eel course and enjoyed everything from the boiled eel to the cold noodles at the end. For two women, this course was just the right amount to leave us feeling satisfied. I can't wait to come back next year for more delicious eel.

I visited Fukunajo Castle. I ordered the special premium eel bowl as a rematch since the last time it was overcooked. It arrived in about 10 minutes. Wait, shouldn't it be overflowing from the lid? I opened the lid and found the eel was short... It was slightly burnt. Thank you for the meal.

It's been 1 year and 7 months since my last visit. Due to the upcoming midsummer day of the ox, even arriving right at opening time, the first floor was already almost full. My friend and I were seated at a 4-person table. We were served well-chilled barley tea first. We ordered the "special deluxe eel bowl x2", and I opted for the "large rice portion (additional charge of 100 yen)". The dish features eel from Mikawa Isshiki that spills out of the bowl, a delightful specialty. After the pandemic, the price had temporarily returned to 2,500 yen, but due to recent price increases, it is now 2,900 yen (tax included)… While cheaper is always better, there's a certain rarity in being able to enjoy top-notch domestically farmed eel for this price. The eel season is here, and there are more young employees (part-timers?) who are working cheerfully and energetically. We were informed that the waiting time might be a bit longer when we placed our order. We snacked on eel bone crackers while waiting, but surprisingly, our food was served in about 25 minutes. The eel spilling over the sides of the bowl looked fantastic. We eagerly opened the lids. Both my friend and I had smiles on our faces. The surface was crispy and fragrant, while the inside was tender and flavorful. The sauce had the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness, complementing the high-quality rice perfectly. We enjoyed the goodness of Kansai-style grilled eel. We savored the liver and pickles as well, and with both of us exclaiming "delicious" repeatedly, we truly had a blissful moment. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you very much.

The interior of the restaurant has about six 4-seater tables, with the same calm atmosphere as the exterior. It is an elegant space, and it was no surprise to see many sophisticated ladies there in the afternoon. I ordered the following: - Superb Red and White Eel Bowl: A luxurious eel bowl with one grilled white eel and one grilled eel. It takes time to cook after ordering, but it is definitely worth the wait. The moment it was served, I was overjoyed by the overwhelming volume and impact. The skin is crispy and fragrant, while the meat is tender and flavorful. Although not very thick, it has a firm texture, flavor, and umami. It comes with eel bone crackers, soup, and pickles, all for only 5700 yen, which is incredibly reasonable. This affordability is truly a paradise for eel lovers, to say the least. I ordered a red and white eel bowl. It was ready in about 20 minutes. The broiled eel lacked the charcoal aroma, but the skin was crispy. On the other hand, the white broiled eel was excellent! It had the best taste I've ever had, with a good amount of fat, no fishy smell, and perfectly crispy. This one whole eel dish is the best among all the eel dishes I've ever had at this restaurant.

I'm tired but feeling good. It's our monthly ladies' gathering. This month, we had a nourishing eel course with 9 dishes! Eel simmered in soy sauce, eel drop soup, lotus root and eggplant with eel, eel tempura, eel liver stew, grilled eel on charcoal, eel shabu-shabu (I grilled it myself for the first time! It was fun and delicious), eel rice bowl, and eel ice cream (with regular matcha). Everything was delicious. I had never eaten eel in a course meal before, so it was fun to try different dishes. The amount of food was just right, not too much or too little, and the dessert at the end was perfect. It was blissful. I don't remember what we talked about, but my cheeks hurt from laughing so much. Now, I wonder where we should go next month. I'll do some research. ♪

Near the entrance, there were tanks with live eels and pufferfish swimming energetically. The interior of the restaurant was clean and the private rooms had a calm atmosphere where we could relax. The fresh eel was delicious with a refined seasoning. I would love to go back again when I crave eel.

In Osaka city... Continuing my Tabelog activities in Osaka, the plan for lunch on this day was to have eel, so I made a reservation the day before. Initially, I tried to go to a famous place near Temmabashi, but unfortunately they were closed on that day. So, I decided to search around Umeda as I also wanted to do some shopping. I found this restaurant in the Fukushima area! I visited the restaurant around 1:00 PM on a weekend. The location of the restaurant is about 3-400 meters northwest of Fukushima Station on the JR Loop Line, in the middle of a shopping street. I wasn't sure if there was a parking lot... I took a photo of the entrance, then went inside and was seated at a 4-person table in the middle of the restaurant. I looked at the menu and chose the "Special Eel Bowl @2,900 yen". The pricing was quite reasonable for the Osaka area. While waiting, I observed the interior of the restaurant. The restaurant was narrow at the entrance and long towards the back, the typical "eel bed" style. At first, I didn't notice, but there seemed to be seating on the 2nd floor as well. The eel used was from Mikawa Isshiki. They said they would prepare and grill it after I ordered... The wait was a bit long, almost 30 minutes. What was served was the dish in the photo. The "Special Eel Bowl" came with eel sticking out of the bowl, making it visually appealing. First, I lifted it up! When I tried to pick it up with chopsticks, it was so tender that it almost fell apart. When I tasted it, it had a crispy yet tender texture. Of course, being a Kansai-style grilled dish, the sauce coated the eel well. The taste was slightly sweet, which I liked. It was delicious. The liver sashimi and pickles served together were also good! I had to save some rice for later as I had a live performance to attend, but I finished all the eel. Fukushima rice birthday celebration dinner with friends. Full course meal with hot pot and grilled dishes, perfect for this time of year. I'm not a fan of fish, but the only fish I can eat is blowfish! I don't like boiled or blanched blowfish, so they skipped that for me. The blowfish sashimi was delicious! Grilled blowfish was also tasty, even though it took a while to cook properly. Charcoal grilling is great! I don't like the skin, so I gave it to my friend. The fried blowfish was a bit bony, I wish there was more meat on it. The hot pot was consistently delicious. The rice porridge at the end was flavorful and tasty, I ended up having three bowls of it. I would definitely come back here again, and I'm glad my friends enjoyed it too.

We spent around 35,000 yen for four people at a delicious fugu restaurant. We also used the 6,500 yen all-you-can-drink option for four people. We ordered additional fugu tempura, fugu skin tempura, and grilled fugu ovaries. The drinks were served promptly, and we were grateful for that. The restaurant was clean and the service was polite.

[Domestic Tiger Pufferfish] Ishigaki Course ¥9800 Luxurious fugu feast - Nitsuke: Elegant simmered dish - Yubiki: Crunchy texture is nice - Tessa: Tessa is still my favorite ⭐︎ - Grilled Fugu: First time trying grilled fugu, the sauce was a bit garlicky for my taste - Fugu Karaage: Pre-seasoned and delicious - Shirako: Half grilled with soy sauce and half in hot pot. Grilled was creamy collagen jelly - Extra-large Tetchiri: Generous portion! I wish there was more skin to eat - Zosui: Flawless taste - Ice Cream: Comforting vanilla ice cream I was a bit puzzled by the junky sauce of the grilled fugu, but I finished it. I ended up ordering fin sake halfway through, and it had a strong flavor due to the abundant fins, so it might be a good deal for those who like it. In January, the cold days continue. At such times, I wanted to eat eel and blowfish, so I made a reservation at "Fukunojo" in Osaka Fukushima. When I entered at 6:00, I was guided to a private room on the second floor. This is really nice! The course menu included: blowfish simmered, blowfish sashimi, eel drop, blowfish tempura, charcoal-grilled blowfish (tasted great with salt!), grilled eel, eel rice bowl, ice cream (vanilla or chocolate). I was able to calmly enjoy the delicious dishes. This is really important. I'll come back again.
