Visited the "Okushiba Shoten," which has been selected as one of the top 100 curry restaurants, located 2 minutes on foot from Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station. It is located in TOKYO CURRY QARTET, which opened today on 2/2 in the Yaesu underground shopping area. Arrived at the restaurant at 11:20 AM and there were 6 people waiting in line. Purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine and waited for my number to be called for seating. It took about 20 minutes to get inside, and by the time I got in, there were already 25 people waiting. I ordered the "Chicken Leg Curry" for 1,480 yen, with spicy level, chicken soup, and regular rice. The menu here is different from the one in Hachioji, all original dishes. It took about 15 minutes for the meal to be served. The soup curry was light and flavorful. The soup had a rich umami flavor from the chicken and shrimp, with a nice kick of spices. The vegetables such as pumpkin, eggplant, carrot, cabbage, etc., were plentiful, and the chicken leg was quite large and satisfying to eat. I enjoyed every bit of it until the last bite.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I stumbled upon a place called "Curry Quintet" which houses four curry restaurants. I had forgotten about it until I remembered that my dentist was nearby, so I decided to check it out. Inside, I found a curry soup restaurant called "Okushiba Shoten". The menu mainly consists of chicken, pork, vegetables, and hamburger curries. I ordered the "Tonkatsu Pootaro" (¥1780). You can adjust the spiciness level of the soup, and although I like it spicy, I decided to go for a medium level this time to avoid upsetting my stomach. The rice was just normal. The curry was loaded with ingredients! Especially the pork was unbelievably huge! I couldn't help but worry if the restaurant was making a profit at ¥1780 with such generous portions. As a customer, I appreciate it, but I can't help but worry. There were crispy fried shrimp, medium-sized shrimp crackers, eggplant, carrots, and daikon radish in the dish, making it satisfying for vegetable lovers. The flavors were well infused into the curry, and the pork was incredibly tender. It was softer than braised pork and easy to eat. The base soup had a slightly fragrant, sweet, and spicy accent, which was delightful. Mixing it with rice enhanced the taste even more. Perhaps due to the limited menu, the food came out quickly. The service was also good. This place is a keeper!

The first train of the limited-time "Romance" curry! Curry for 1,200 yen including tax, made with shrimp base and very delicious! This time, I ordered the affordable weekday menu. They also give you a paper apron. You can pay with PayPay, au Pay, transportation IC cards, credit cards, or Quick Pay.

Since I last visited six months ago, they have expanded their weekday lunch menu. I tried the "Chicken Leg Curry" for 1200 yen, which had slightly less vegetables compared to the default menu. Most other items on the menu are over 1500 yen, so I thought 1200 yen was reasonable for lunch. You can choose the spiciness level and rice portion size, and this time I went with medium spiciness and medium rice. The taste was delicious, but even at medium spiciness, it was quite spicy. Do you usually finish all the soup in a soup curry dish?

Located in Yaechika Curry Street, this soup curry specialty shop from Hokkaido offers a delicious curry soup with a rich broth, even though it doesn't have tempura like the original. I ordered the first train curry of the day, the Romango Limited, for 1,200 yen on a weekday. The curry soup, made with a large amount of sweet shrimp heads and spices, has a wonderful aroma and a spicy kick. The chicken legs, cooked in a pressure cooker, are incredibly tender and easily fall off the bone. The dish also includes a variety of colorful vegetables, which you can enjoy sampling. The option to add a squeeze of lemon to the rice is confirmed when ordering, and it adds a refreshing touch to the meal. Definitely worth trying. #TokyoGourmet #TokyoCurry #TokyoSoupCurry #TokyoSpiceCurry #TokyoStationGourmet #TokyoStationLunch #TokyoStationCurry #YaesuGourmet #YaesuLunch #YaesuCurry #OkushibaShop #FoodieWanted #CurryLovers #SpiceCurryLovers #SoupCurryLovers #TokyoStationRomango #okushibashouten #tokyocurry #tokyospicecurry #currylovers #spicecurrylovers

Pork shabu-shabu curry for 1,680 yen, with an additional broccoli for 160 yen. The Ebisu soup here is unique to Okushiba. I first tried it in Asahikawa and have been craving it ever since. It's been a while since I had soup curry, so I decided to visit this place. The prices are quite high, typical of Tokyo, but understandable given the location. The pork shabu-shabu comes with enoki mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, and tofu. The tofu was lukewarm, which was disappointing. Also, the portion of soup was quite small. Having to eat it slowly was not ideal for a soup curry. The soup itself had a strong shrimp flavor. As a fan of Ebi Ramen Ichigen, I was excited about the shrimp soup, but unfortunately, it didn't quite match well with the curry. The vegetables, especially the daikon radish, felt watery and didn't seem to go well with the soup. Personally, I didn't enjoy this place at all.

Visited on August 27, 2023 at 5:18 PM. No wait. There were 2-3 groups of customers ahead of me. It was my first time visiting, so I was unsure of what to order. I chose the curry with hamburger, which was listed as the most popular item (about 2000 yen). When ordering, I was asked if I wanted lemon and shrimp crackers. I said "yes." The dish was served at 5:22 PM. I was recommended to try putting lemon on the rice for a change of flavor, but I didn't end up using it. The vegetables were fried and cut into large pieces, allowing me to taste the natural flavors of the ingredients. Although the menu and the restaurant emphasized the use of high-quality beef for the hamburger, it didn't stand out as particularly special to me. The shrimp broth soup curry had a nice balance of spiciness and the subtle taste of shrimp broth, which would appeal to shrimp lovers. However, if you just want to enjoy the shrimp broth soup curry, opting for the chicken curry might be a more affordable option and allow you to fully appreciate the ingredients themselves. Thank you for the meal.

On the final night of my Tokyo trip, before boarding the Shinkansen, I decided to grab a meal at the station. It was a Saturday night after 6 PM and everywhere inside Gransta was packed with long lines, and the restaurants around JR were crowded with people. Since I still had some time before my train, I walked a bit further to Yae Chika and found an oasis! The restaurants at Yae Chika were not crowded at all, so I had plenty of options to choose from. I stumbled upon Okushiba, which I used to love when I lived in Sapporo, and I was drawn in by nostalgia. With only about three groups of people inside, the restaurant was spacious and I could enjoy my meal comfortably. The spicy curry with shrimp broth was just as delicious as I remembered from Sapporo.

Before Tabelog even existed, it must have been about 20 years ago when I used to frequent the main branch of Okushiba Shoten. Back in the day, they had soups other than shrimp, which I really liked. Well, the shrimp soup isn't bad either, but personally, I feel that the old Okushiba Shoten that used to impress me is no longer the same and has become something else. It's just the changing times, so it can't be helped, but lately, even when I visit Sapporo, I feel that it has changed. Well, let's just consider ourselves lucky to be able to enjoy the soup curry from the Okushiba lineage in Tokyo. As for the spiciness, it's not that spicy, so everyone should not hesitate to pay an extra 200 yen to increase the spiciness. Thank you for the meal.

This is delicious! The flavor surpasses that of regular soup curry. The rich shrimp broth enhances the spices beautifully. There is no unpleasant taste at all. The juicy hamburger is also delicious! It pairs perfectly with the curry. The choice of vegetables is fantastic. I am impressed by the recipe that doesn't compromise on nutrition or taste. This curry will definitely be in my rotation.

I called in thinking that there might be authentic soup curry here at a famous soup curry restaurant in Hokkaido, located at Tokyo Station. I topped the chicken-based soup curry with chicken and broccoli, and it was delicious. The toppings and soup were so tasty that I couldn't help but eat it all at once.

Visited Yae Chika Curry, a soup curry restaurant in the curry street, before 12:30 on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. There was a line of about 5 people, and it took about 5-6 minutes to be seated. They confirmed if I had any shrimp allergy. I placed my order using the tablet at the counter seat. I ordered the Chicken Drumstick Curry (¥1480) with medium spiciness, normal portion (200g), with lemon, and shrimp crackers. It took about 10 minutes for the dish to be served, which was a bit slow. The curry contained chicken legs, fried shrimp, eggplant, carrot, broccoli, potato, daikon radish, bell pepper, red turnip, and shrimp crackers. There was also shrimp flakes in a mortar. The soup had a moderate level of spiciness but the major downside was that it was lukewarm. The shrimp flakes and shrimp crackers seemed a bit excessive in terms of presentation. Overall, it was a flashy soup curry, but I would like to try a more basic flavor. The chicken was delicious.

This is my first visit. At Okushiba Shoten in Yaesu underground shopping mall, orders are placed using a touch panel. I chose the most popular dish with a hamburger topped with chicken. I love spicy food, so I selected the spiciest level, but I could have handled even spicier.

On Saturday, August 12th, how are you all doing? Today, I am on a Bon holiday visit to my hometown. I plan to stay until noon on the 16th. Before heading home, I made a detour to Tokyo Station. Tokyo Station has returned to its pre-pandemic hustle and bustle. I had lunch at a curry area I had never visited before. There are four shops offering soup curry, spice curry, Western-style curry, and Indian curry, and I chose the soup curry shop. Although there was an Okushiba Shoten in Hachioji, the one near the station seemed to have disappeared. So, I decided to eat at the Okushiba Shoten in Tokyo Station for the first time in a while. When I entered the shop, the staff politely asked, "Does shrimp dashi contain any shrimp allergies?" Of course, I was fine. I ordered the Tokyo Station shop's original hamburger soup curry. The menu included Okushibagu curry, natto & okra toppings, lassi, and I chose a small portion of rice with medium spiciness. The lassi was thick and shake-like. The soup curry ingredients included cabbage, eggplant, potatoes, bell peppers, carrots, and other large vegetables, as well as the northernmost hamburger, topped with minced natto and sliced okra. When I cut into the hamburger, the juices overflowed, and it was incredibly fluffy and tender to eat. The shrimp senbei, when dipped in curry, became soft and delicious. Topping with natto and okra increased the slimy texture, making the rice go down smoothly. I enjoyed the Okushiba Shoten's soup curry, which I couldn't experience in Hachioji, and I was satisfied. Please try it out too. Thank you for the meal.

The menu may be limited, but each item is delicious and appealing to everyone. The cheese toppings were a great choice. The addition of lemon to the rice was a nice touch and made it very tasty. I ordered a small portion of rice, which was just the right amount for me.

The deliciousness was irresistible for curry lovers. I had a hard time deciding which one to choose, but I ordered the Chicken Leg Curry, medium spicy (with a small portion of rice). The chicken was tender, and of course, it was delicious, but the vegetables were also delicious! I was full and satisfied. I will come back again!!

Today's lunch was at the Curry Alley located at Tokyo Station. The name is the more stylish TOKYO CURRY QUARTET. It features four renowned curry shops from different regions, and this time I tried the one from Hokkaido, Okushiba. I ordered the standard chicken curry. The soup base, vegetables, chicken, and egg were well-balanced and delicious until the very end. The accompanying shrimp salt and shrimp senbei were also great. In terms of cost performance, it's questionable, but considering the location, it's understandable. Thank you for the meal.

Straight ahead from the Yaesu underground street at Tokyo Station, past the Jan Joosten Memorial Statue on the left, you will find a curry restaurant located inside "TOKYO CURRY QUARTET". The entrance does not have a door, but it is easily recognizable by the sign for "Okushiba Shoten". The interior is casual and bustling with about 80% occupancy during lunchtime on weekdays. There are counter seats in front of the kitchen on the right side, as well as single counter seats facing each other in three rows on the left side. There is a water server at the back on the right side. I was seated at a chair in front of the kitchen, which was sturdy and had a footrest for stability. There is also a basket under the chair for personal belongings. The staff first asked about any allergies regarding the shrimp broth before guiding me to place my order on the touch panel in front of me. However, I had some difficulty with the touch panel and had to ask for assistance to switch the screen and proceed with my order. The menu includes various curry dishes such as Chicken Leg Curry, Pork Meatball Curry, and Vegetable Curry, along with options for spice level, rice portion, and toppings. I decided to try the Chicken Leg Curry with a medium spice level, small rice portion, and no toppings. After placing my order, the staff confirmed it and brought out the Soup Curry, rice, and shrimp powder for seasoning. The shrimp powder can be sprinkled over the rice or added to the soup for flavor. The Chicken Leg Curry was served in a large bowl with a generous amount of chicken, vegetables, and shrimp crackers. The curry had a smooth consistency with a subtle sweetness from the shrimp broth, followed by a lingering spiciness. The chicken was tender and juicy, easily falling off the bone. The dish was packed with a variety of vegetables and ingredients, providing a satisfying and flavorful experience.

I had the Oira Butamaru Poo Tarou (Trotro Marunii) at TOKYO CURRY QUARTET, a restaurant located in Yae Chika, directly connected to Tokyo Station. It consists of four curry shops, and I visited on a weekday at 6:30 pm. Upon entering, they asked if I had a shrimp allergy. I ordered the Oira Butamaru Poo Tarou, which is a dish with pork marinated in a rich shrimp-flavored soup. It also comes with shrimp flakes on top. The vegetables were delicious as well. It was a unique experience, tasting like shrimp curry soup or curry-flavored shrimp soup.

I visited one of the curry shops in TOKYO CURRY QARTET, a new addition in the Yaesu underground shopping area near the Yaesu exit of JR Tokyo Station. This shop is part of a chain currently expanding throughout Hokkaido. The interior has a refined feel, and there are cup noodles available as well. I chose the Okushibaagu Curry made with 100% Soya Black Beef. The hamburger had a solid meaty texture, and the shrimp in the curry was impressive. It took a bit of time, but the curry was delicious. It's great to see a new restaurant like this near Tokyo Station. I enjoyed my meal.

Recently, Okushiba Shoten has been opening stores everywhere. In Tokyo, they have locations in Hachioji, Akasaka, and Yaesu Underground Shopping Mall at Tokyo Station. I decided to visit the store in Yaesu. Even on a weekday around 4 pm, it was quite crowded. I ordered the most popular item, the soup curry, using the touch panel. The Hokkaido black wagyu hamburger looked tempting. It's over 2000 yen, but considering the quality of the ingredients, it's understandable. They also serve shrimp rice crackers for free, which look very photogenic. The soup has a nice balance of shrimp and curry flavors. I added green pickles for an extra level of spiciness. The Hokkaido wagyu hamburger was delicious, with plenty of vegetables. The shrimp rice crackers had a unique melt-in-your-mouth texture, although the shrimp seasoning was a bit lacking. The rice was simple but refreshing when squeezed with lemon. Overall, the soup curry was well-crafted, but it felt a bit too elaborate. It's undoubtedly tasty, but I feel like other top restaurants have a richer soup base.

Sold out notice for special express vegetable curry and shrimp senbei (?) topping missing, quite disappointing... The taste was delicious so it was a letdown. I arrived at around 20:15 on Friday. The storefront sign had a sold out notice for the special express vegetable curry. That was the one I wanted to eat the most, so I was disappointed... But this morning, I saw the curry quartet on ZIP, so I had to accept it. I decided to go for the Okushibaku curry and entered the store. I was able to sit down right away without waiting. (I noticed while eating that there is a net to put your belongings on the chair) I selected the Okushibaku curry using the touch panel for ordering... but even that was SOLD OUT! What!!! It wasn't written as sold out on the storefront sign, so I thought they had it when I entered... My excitement dropped while I selected the Chicken Leg Curry. You can choose the spiciness level as mild, medium, or hot, and the rice is the same price for a small 120g and a regular 200g, so I chose mild and regular. It was served shortly after (the short wait time was good). Wow, it looks delicious! There are various vegetables in it, which is nice! A mini mortar with shrimp furikake was included, and you can put it on the rice as you like. It looked delicious, so my excitement returned a bit. It's also good that they provide paper aprons. First, I tried a bit of the shrimp dashi soup that was featured on TV... Delicious!!! My first and second choices were sold out, but this is delicious too, so that's good, and I continued eating. However, a couple came to the store a few minutes after I started eating and sat at the opposite table. They seemed to not understand how to order, so the staff explained the touch panel to them. The couple was looking at the touch panel and said, "There's no vegetables or hamburger, huh?" and the staff said, "We have Okushibaku curry." What!!!?? What is going on??? I couldn't help but have doubts while eating. Even though the touch panel still showed SOLD OUT, they said it was available... One of the couple ordered the Okushibaku curry. What! If it was available, I wanted to eat that, what is going on... and my excitement dropped. The chicken curry was delicious too, but I couldn't shake off the disappointment. After finishing eating, feeling a mix of deliciousness and various complex emotions, I was about to pay at the counter when I saw the curry of the person sitting at the seat next to the register... Huh? There's something round and big that looks like shrimp senbei. Was that in mine? No, it wasn't!!! When I looked at the picture on the storefront sign, all of them come with it!!! Huh, did they forget the topping?? But, I've already finished eating and heading towards the register, so it's too late to ask for just the shrimp senbei now... Ughhh... My excitement plummeted. I finished the self-checkout and left the store. The food itself was delicious, but with so many disappointments... I wanted to give it a 3.5 just for the taste. I visited to lift my spirits after a tiring day at work, but it turned out to be full of disappointments. Thank you for the meal.
