New Year's greetings tour. After finishing in Tokyo, heading towards Saitama. We decided to eat in Tokyo beforehand, as my colleague suggested. We arrived at the restaurant around 11:30 am on a weekday after the New Year, and it was about half full. We quickly sat at a table and looked at the menu. My colleague ordered a set of curry udon and tempura rice bowl. As I can't eat much, I opted for the seasonal limited spicy tantan udon with extra spicy bean sprouts. In about 10 minutes, our dishes arrived. My colleague's set had a full-size tempura rice bowl, which seemed like a good deal, but it was too much for me. Then my spicy tantan udon arrived. It looked deliciously spicy, making my mouth water. The spicy bean sprouts looked even spicier. I mixed it a bit and tried it. The soup was spicy but had a rich sesame flavor, making it mellow. The spicy bean sprouts added an extra kick, making it deliciously spicy. If you like spicy food, you should definitely try the spicy bean sprouts. The slightly firm udon noodles matched perfectly with the spicy soup. The side fried egg and bonito flakes complemented the dish nicely. Personally, I might like the tantan udon more than curry. As expected, my colleague struggled but finished the meal. It seems better to enjoy individual dishes rather than ordering a set here. If you want a filling meal, I recommend the set menu, but be prepared to eat a lot. This place has a wide variety of drinks, and I would like to visit at night. I would love to come back if I have the chance. I enjoyed the tantan udon this time, so I will adjust my rating.

A unique combination of curry udon and tempura bowl at a udon restaurant in Sendagi. The price was 1500 yen, but it was definitely worth it! The curry udon is a creamy spiced curry that is thick and sweet with a spicy kick that comes later. The udon noodles are thick and chewy. The tempura is crispy and delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied with the portion size and taste.

The restaurant is located just a 1-minute walk from Sendagi Station, right after you come up from the subway. Despite its somewhat chic exterior, the interior atmosphere had a more casual and friendly feel. The bright and homemade vibe created a sense of closeness. The counter seats were made of what seemed like concrete blocks, and surprisingly, it felt welcoming for solo diners. Bossa nova music was playing in the background. They offer lunchtime drinking and a menu of snacks. There are 3 counter seats and 3 tables for 4 people each. The pork curry udon costs 960 yen, and a Premium Malt beer is 630 yen. However, the udon was not to my liking. It seemed like it was boiled incorrectly – thick, flat, uneven noodles with a chewy and rubbery texture. The noodles stuck together in some parts. The broth was tasty, with a mild milky flavor that stood out, complemented by a good balance of spices. It had a thick consistency that coated the udon well, but I couldn't finish the dish. The side toppings included pork, spinach, and a seasoned egg. The beer was not enjoyable, tasting metallic. It seemed more like an issue with the beer itself rather than the brand.

Shiomitsu is an udon restaurant located right by Sendagi Station. As soon as it opened, it was full and later a line formed outside. I had the pork curry udon. The special roux, made with about 20 types of spices and stretched with milk, has a cardamom aroma and a thick, stew-like umami flavor. The udon noodles are chewy, thick, and uneven in thickness, so the curry sticks to them well. The chewiness and springiness of the noodles are irresistible! I heard that they boil the udon noodles for each order. The pork had a strong umami flavor and was quite filling. I also tried the cold kake udon. The refreshing dashi soup was delicious! It made the chewiness of the noodles stand out even more.

After a long time, I visited Sendagi. I came out of the No. 1 exit and found the restaurant right at the Danzobanzaka intersection (laughs)!! A few years ago, there was a curry program on TV and they featured curry udon, which I bookmarked and left untouched (laughs)!! Finally, I made my first visit (laughs)!! I immediately ordered the pork curry udon with cheese topping and the joten don set (laughs)!! The cheese was grilled with a burner and arrived (laughs)!! Unlike the curry nanban at a Japanese soba restaurant, this curry udon was creamy. Pork and cheese really go well with curry udon (laughs)!! The joten don had tempura toppings such as shrimp, okra, sweet potato, white fish, eggplant, and carrots, with a lot of broth. The carrot tempura was bold (laughs)!! After eating the udon, I realized that the pickles were playing hide and seek without me noticing (laughs)!! The staff was friendly and the various combinations make me want to come back again (laughs)!!

"Pork curry udon" is popular, so I got off at Sendagi Station and visited the restaurant. The restaurant is located right at the intersection just outside Sendagi Station. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Pork Curry Udon Joten Don" for 1,600 yen. The restaurant wasn't crowded, so it was served in about 7-8 minutes. The pork was plentiful and the curry was a bit thin. When I tried the curry soup, it was creamy and had a traditional curry taste. I didn't feel much spiciness as others have mentioned, maybe a slight spiciness later on. The udon was a bit lacking, with decent firmness but nothing special. As for the Joten Don, the tempura consisted of shrimp, fish, carrots, sweet potatoes, and shishito peppers, but the oil wasn't drained well, making the rice oily. The sauce was a bit sharp and slightly salty. I had high expectations as it is considered one of the top udon restaurants, but personally, it was somewhat disappointing."

Around 1:30 pm, I was able to be seated immediately. I ordered the lunch set of pork curry and tempura on rice for 1600 yen. The restaurant was decorated with many autographs of celebrities. The curry udon had a mild flavor, the noodles were firm and delicious! The tempura was large, crispy, and juicy, very tasty! The portion was quite generous and I was stuffed. The curry udon seems to be a specialty, but there were also many people ordering other types of udon that looked delicious. I didn't specifically come here today, just stopped by randomly, but it was a great find. I want to come back to try other menu items. Thank you for the meal!

Shiomaru in Sendagi, Tokyo offers Pork Curry Udon for 960 yen. It has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants in 2020. The udon noodles are thick and have a good chewy texture. The curry flavor is mild with a hint of spice. The broth is flavorful but not too thick, and it pairs well with the udon. The dish is topped with plenty of pork, which is satisfying. The restaurant is usually crowded during lunchtime, but the turnover is quick, so the wait is not too long. Operating hours are 11:00-15:00 for lunch and 18:00-23:00 for dinner. Reservation is not available.

I visited the restaurant during lunchtime on a regular day. Upon entering, I was directed to the counter seats, but sitting there meant having to leave space for customers to pass behind me, which was a bit uncomfortable. As I looked around to decide what to order, I realized that the menu was hidden under the counter seats, making it hard to find. I ended up choosing the juicy meat udon with 3 types of tempura for ¥1100. About 30 seconds after placing my order, a female staff member approached me, mentioning a sale (which was actually a limited-time offer) on tempura made with udo from Nagano for ¥350. I considered ordering it, but was told it was too late to change my order. I gave up, even though the staff suggested getting it for takeout. When the food arrived, I was surprised to see that the tempura was placed on top of the udon, instead of being served on a separate plate as I had expected. The udon came with bonito flakes, watercress, and white sesame, while the tempura included green pepper, carrot, and sweet potato. The dipping sauce had pork in it and was warm. The udon noodles were thick and homemade, giving a satisfying weight when picked up with chopsticks. When dipped in the broth with the toppings, it tasted delicious. I felt the carrot in the tempura could have been cut smaller, and the sweet potato was too thickly sliced, making it very hot. I hope to try the limited-time tempura on my next visit.

First visit, arrived at 14:10 with about 70% occupancy, and immediately sat at the counter seat. Ordered the pork curry rice set for 1,050 yen, and it was served in about 15 minutes. The dish was topped with plenty of diced pork, and it was nice that a half-boiled egg was included by default. The noodles were thick and flat, with a chewy texture and a strong firmness, which was delicious. The curry broth was spicy but not too hot, with a light thickness that paired well with the thick noodles, resulting in a high-quality finish. The set rice was around 150 grams, and it went well with the curry broth. With this volume and quality, I think 1,050 yen is a reasonable price. I thought this curry udon was of a very high standard. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the meal♪

I went to "Sendagi Udon Shimma" near the Dangozaka Intersection for dinner today. When I arrived, the seats were quite full but I was able to get in easily. I originally planned to have the eel bowl set, but found out that it was only available during lunch hours. So, I ordered the shiitake mushroom pork soup udon and a mini tempura bowl instead. Soon enough, the shiitake mushroom pork soup udon and mini tempura bowl that I ordered were brought to me. They had a delicious aroma. The udon noodles were thick and curly, and they were well coated in the broth. They had a good chewiness to them. The broth had a slight sweetness to it. The tempura in the tempura bowl was excellent, freshly fried. However, the inconvenience of the restaurant being cash-only was felt when I went with my family.

The best walking spot in the Yanaka-Senji area is filled with charming eateries. Today, I chose curry udon to recharge after a bit of walking. Arrived at 14:10 on a holiday, with only 4 customers inside, no waiting required. Ordered the pork curry udon with cheese for ¥1,260 and fuki no tou tempura for ¥350. The tempura arrived first. Fuki no tou is a seasonal item and it had a fresh bitterness that was quite pleasant. Next, the curry udon arrived. It had a milky appearance and a gentle, delicious taste. It was mild and creamy, with a strong sweetness balanced by just the right amount of spice. The udon noodles were flat and wavy, with a firm texture and a good chew, although a bit difficult to slurp due to the wavy shape. They offer a variety of appealing side dishes like horse sashimi and a wide selection of tempura, making it a great place for drinks. Overall, it was a delightful meal.

I felt like having curry udon, so I visited after 5 years. The store had moved a few dozen meters and the table layout had changed due to COVID, but the staff's friendliness and the cozy atmosphere remained the same. The creamy, flavorful soup and chewy noodles were still delicious as ever. And the cost performance was excellent.

Ordered the Niku Dofu simmered dish and Nameko mushroom soup udon. Overall, they were neither amazing nor terrible, just tasty. Both dishes had plenty of green onions, which I love. However, they lacked that extra something that would make them outstanding. The Niku Dofu simmered dish was not the dark, deeply flavored tofu I was expecting, but rather a lightly simmered version with a slightly spicy finish. The udon had a twist similar to Musashino udon, but was not as firm. It wasn't lacking in chewiness, but it felt like it could have been better. The restaurant seems to specialize in curry udon, but since I don't like curry udon, I couldn't fully judge their skills. Personally, I felt it was a bit of a missed opportunity.

"Spicy meat tantan udon for 990 yen including tax. I've always been curious about it because there's always a line, but surprisingly no line this time so I decided to try it. I was torn between curry udon but the seasonal limited edition caught my attention. I thought it would take a long time to cook the udon, but it came out surprisingly quickly. The udon noodles were not too thick. The spicy miso topping was quite spicy and perfect for a cold day. Maybe adding a rice set would have made it more satisfying."

The shop is quite small, but the food is delicious. The curry udon is not too watery, with a thick consistency that makes it easy to coat the udon noodles, and it was very tasty. The meat udon is light and easy to eat, with a good flavor of dashi. I would like to visit again as a drinking spot at night.

I went to lunch with a friend on a cold day. I chose the curry udon and tempura bowl set, while my friend chose the nikujiru udon. The curry udon had just the right amount of spiciness, and I enjoyed mixing the leftover rice from the tempura bowl to make a makeshift curry rice. The tempura shrimp was large and delicious, earning a passing grade on its own. We were planning to go to Ueno to buy tempura for our New Year's Eve soba topping, but the tempura was so good that we decided to take it home instead.

On a cold day, I felt like eating curry udon and visited this place. Here, you can enjoy a creamy, milky, and mild curry udon. The noodles are pre-boiled, but they are still in good condition, with a strong chewy texture and a distinctive twist, making them delicious. The rice may not be perfectly cooked or kept warm, but it goes perfectly well with this type of soup. With plenty of meat on top, it can be enjoyed as a main dish. The seasoned egg with a rich broth is also delicious. Surprisingly, there is a wide variety of side dishes available, and the fact that they are only available during lunchtime is also appealing.

Recently, a renowned udon restaurant relocated closer to Sendagi Station. It used to be a hidden gem, but now it's quite popular during lunchtime with occasional lines. I decided to try their famous specialty, the Pork Curry Udon for 960 yen. The creamy and flavorful broth with a hint of spice perfectly complements the chewy udon noodles, and the pork adds a nice touch. This dish is delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this place for lunch on Saturday. The restaurant has a small number of seats, so there is often a line. I ordered the meat udon (dipping style). The thick noodles have a good chewiness and smooth texture, which goes well with the dipping sauce with pork and green onions! I really like the noodles here and visit often. If you're a big eater, I recommend getting the large size and slurping it up!
