JR Nishi-Nippori Station West Exit, a few minutes' walk away, is the shop "Ayubowan!" along Yanaka Yomise Street. I visited for the first time during lunchtime in mid-August. The first time I visited, the shop was closed for the day, and the second time I arrived a little before the opening time of 11:30 am, only to find a sign saying "Opening at 12 pm today." It was a very hot day, so I had to give up that day. And on this day, once again, there was a sign saying "Opening at 12 pm today," and there was also a notice of temporary closure for the past three days. I thought if I missed today, it would be a shame, so I killed time nearby and finally entered the shop at 12 pm. When coming to the shop, it might be better to confirm by phone. There are various lovely items placed around, giving the handmade interior a warm feeling. The shop has a total of 20 seats, including counter seats and table seats, with each table having its own unique world without a sense of unity. I sat at the counter seat against the wall. The shop is run by a friendly-looking master alone, which fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the shop. I looked at the lunch menu on the table. The lunch menu consists of three Sri Lankan curries: chicken, pork, and all toppings (a mix of chicken and pork), and on this day, I ordered the "Luxurious All Toppings Curry" (1500 yen) and "Iced Coffee" (450 yen). Now, it's waiting time, but whether it was normal or whether the shop was not fully prepared due to the temporary closure, it took about 40 minutes before the food was finally served. "Luxurious All Toppings Curry Contents" Chicken Curry Pork Curry Parippu (lentil curry) Pol Sambol (coconut and chili powder salad) Papadam (thin lentil flour crackers) Alapadama (stir-fried potatoes) Homemade pickles Overall, the bright yellow of the lentil curry and rice is visually appealing. In Sri Lankan style, you're supposed to mix everything well with your fingers and eat with your fingers, but I was concerned about the oily feeling on the train ride home, so I mixed it with a spoon and tried it immediately. The aroma of various spices was good, and the coconut milk made it more mild than spicy, with a slightly sour and mild taste that was delicious. The chicken, although bone-in, was so well cooked that the meat easily fell off the bone when picked up, and it was tender and tasty. The textures of Pol Sambol, Alapadama, crushed Papadam, and the large-cut pickles were also enjoyable, and I enjoyed the meal. I finished eating shortly. Thank you for the meal.
