We had a quick drink and snack in the Nihonbashi area, so we went to Utage Dotonbori, which is located close to the station. The exterior of the restaurant is stylish, almost like a French restaurant. The interior is predominantly white and doesn't feel like a typical standing bar atmosphere. We ordered the following items:
- Draft beer Maruef 500 yen
- Myoga pickled in plum vinegar 200 yen
- Pork meatballs with eggplant arrabbiata sauce 650 yen
- Omelette with truffle cream sauce 600 yen
Even though it's a standing bar, some dishes are good for sharing between two people. The beer was poured with a nice foam. Personally, I think with this wonderful lineup of dishes, Premium Malt would also go well as it complements the rich flavors of the food. The staff's service was excellent, and the dishes were intricately prepared, which was great. It's a lovely place that makes you want to go back again!

The exterior looks like a beauty salon! At first, I didn't realize it and passed by, but when I peeked inside, it turned out to be a standing Spanish bar! It's so stylish that I didn't notice it at first, haha. Despite being a standing bar, the interior is spacious and comfortable. Every dish is of high quality with many unique menu items. And surprisingly, the cost performance is excellent! I'm impressed and definitely want to visit again. This place is great for casual drinks or meal-focused visits. It's very popular among women! On a rainy Friday night, I went bar hopping in Namba with a cute girl. The second place she chose was this shop. The interior was surprisingly spacious and stylish, with no chairs. The staff were fashionable and cute. I wanted to try the gratin I saw on Instagram and Tabelog, but unfortunately it was a seasonal menu, so we ordered lasagna, sea bream carpaccio, and a glass of wine instead. On a regular weekday past 6pm, there was one regular customer chatting with the staff at the counter. We sat at the counter, two of us, and asked if they had any Pet-Nat available. They said they could open a bottle for us if we ordered two glasses. It was a fruity and sweet Austrian wine. We also ordered some dishes: fruit tomato lemon marinade, red snapper with soy sauce marinade and vegetables, potato fries with aioli sauce, and pasta with pork belly and chickpeas in white wine ragout sauce. Everything was delicious! After the Pet-Nat, we tried a refreshing Austrian white wine and then a French white wine from Rhone, which had a subtle pear-like aroma. We ordered another glass of the Rhone white wine to go with the pasta, which was a perfect match. It was a happy standing drinking experience! We will definitely come back again. Good job!" but I couldn't find the place. I thought it was a beauty salon, but it was actually Utage. What I want to say is that this place is incredibly stylish. The menu is so well done that you wouldn't think it's a standing bar. The food is delicious, great value for money, and the interior is beautiful. There's nothing to complain about this place. It's common to hesitate about going on a standing bar date, but at this place, you're sure to impress any woman. I always wanted to visit this standing bar in Minami. The gratin was delicious with plenty of cheese, and the fritto was also tasty. All the dishes I tried were delicious! On Fridays, I finish work early and go out for drinks♪ This time, I chose a popular standing bar called "utage dotonbori" in Osaka Minami, known for its creative Western-style dishes and natural wines. The location of the restaurant is a bit hard to find, as there are no signs, so I actually passed by it twice before finding it. The atmosphere of the place is chic, with a standing bar surrounding the cooking area in an L-shape and a table for about four people. Since I visited alone, I stood at the vacant counter.
First, I had a refreshing draft beer, which was poured perfectly. Then, I moved on to wine since I wanted to try it. Not being knowledgeable about wine, I asked the staff to recommend a wine to pair with each dish. So, for each dish, I had a glass of wine. Let's go through the dishes I tried:
1. "Jaga Blue 'Kai'": A smooth and creamy potato salad with a strong blue cheese flavor, finely chopped prosciutto, and dried figs. The balance of saltiness and sweetness was perfect, and there was a hint of banana flavor as well.
2. "Eel and Shiso Fritter with Edamame Cream Sauce": A fritter with eel and shiso that tasted slightly like sardines but had a light eel flavor at the end. The outer coating was soft, and the edamame sauce was smooth and gentle in flavor.
3. "Quattro Formaggi": A pizza with four types of cheese, including a generous amount of blue cheese. The crust was crispy and crunchy, and the cheese was rich and satisfying.
After the hearty pizza, I was quite full! All the dishes had a creative touch to them and were delicious. Along with a draft beer, I had three glasses of wine and a Dark Rum with tonic water. It was a good feeling, and the young male staff members were all friendly and made my solo drinking experience enjoyable. Even though it's a standing bar, the quality was amazing! I went there after having ramen, but the food was so delicious that I ate too much. Everything I ordered was delicious, but especially the pear with prosciutto and the raisin butter were amazing. The staff were also very kind. There are still more dishes I want to try, so I will definitely go back.
