A popular casual izakaya located in a drinking alley near Nerima Station South Exit. It is a reasonably priced and popular spot also found in Shinjuku. It was crowded on this weekend day, but we managed to find a table right away. We started with a toast with draft beer. The must-have dish here is yakitori. We ordered skewers of heart and pig's ear. While waiting for the grilled items, we enjoyed the popular stewed tripe. In a casual izakaya, stewed tripe is a must. The stew here is not overcooked, which is great. When the grilled items arrived, we switched from beer to Hoppy. We enjoyed yakitori, stewed tripe, and Hoppy for about two hours, spending around 7000 yen, which is still quite cheap. It was a satisfying and enjoyable drinking experience!

I went to Harutaya, a popular izakaya located in the direction of the drinking district after leaving Nerima Station. It's always crowded with people, even overflowing to the nearby annex. I was able to get in quickly this time because I entered a little before the last order. The yakitori included chicken and pork, as well as various unique options like vegetables, shrimp mayo, and cheese fry, all at reasonable prices. The spicy beef tendon dish felt like a classic izakaya choice. They also offer a mega-sized jug of drinks, which is priced at double the regular size but three times the quantity, making it a good choice for those who stick to the same drink.

I stopped by on my way home from work. Whenever I feel like eating yakitori, I always end up getting off the train and stopping by here. It's nice that you can smoke inside the restaurant! I will definitely come back again. It was disappointing that they were out of squid skewers and bacon lettuce wraps!

It's not my usual weekend routine, but on Saturday nights, I like to go to a izakaya alone, drink while analyzing Sunday's horse racing. I found a yakitori restaurant in Nerima where smoking is allowed while wandering around. It was a blissful time, enjoying bottled beer and yakitori. It was delicious.

On a regular weekday afternoon, after being turned down by 3-4 other places, I ended up here. Sorry for not having much priority haha. But it's been a while since I've been to Harutaya, and when I looked at the menu after being seated, I was surprised to see oden! I can't remember the last time I saw oden at Harutaya. I think it should be a year-round menu item though. By the way, the volume of the fried river shrimp is amazing. It's about half the price of Gus-san nearby, but the portion seems to be three times as big haha. Honestly, I thought it was too much, but I finished it with the spirit of not refusing what's offered. The grilled sardines with Kanefuku's mentaiko sandwich was also really delicious. It's been a long time since I've eaten something like this, and it felt very nostalgic. Once again, I realized that at Harutaya, avoiding the grilled mackerel leads to a higher level of satisfaction haha.

After having lunch, I came to have dessert. The staff greeted me enthusiastically and I was seated at a table. I ordered a Jasmine Highball and three skewers of chicken - neck, heart, and cartilage with salt. The staff also offered a chicken skin with ponzu sauce, but I declined. I asked for a Hoppy drink, which was mixed perfectly. The skewers were reasonably priced at 90 yen each and were a good size. The menu had a variety of options for those who want to try different skewers. Overall, it was a great experience at this popular izakaya in Nerima. I will definitely explore the area more after this.

When you exit the south exit of Nerima Station and cross Chikawa Street, you will find several narrow alleys crowded with drinking establishments. This particular restaurant is located in one corner of the street. It is a reasonably priced izakaya that can also be found in Shinjuku and Oizumi Gakuen. The casual atmosphere is enjoyable, and I have had a drink at various locations before. I have visited this Nerima branch a few times as well. On this day, in the evening, it was a bit early to start drinking, but since I had come to Nerima, I decided to have a drink. Despite the early hour, the restaurant was packed. Although both the counter and tables were full, I managed to secure a seat at a corner of the counter. I started with a draft beer. While enjoying the cold beer, I thought about what to order for food. I decided on yakitori and simmered dish. These two items are reasonably priced and delicious at a casual izakaya. The simmered tofu arrived relatively quickly, so I ate it while drinking my beer. I finished the beer quickly, so I decided to switch to hoppy. I ordered a set of white hoppy. I enjoyed the hoppy while eating yakitori. The yakitori of heart and head arrived. I ate the two dishes with rich pork flavors while drinking hoppy. The hoppy was refreshing and delicious. I added thick fried tofu at this point. The timing was perfect as I had just finished my dish. The thick fried tofu with chopped green onions arrived as I ordered another hoppy refill. I enjoyed the ideal alcohol balance of 1 beer to 3 hoppies. The total cost was just over 2000 yen. Day drinking at this restaurant is delightful!

I am the baseball king Saito! I dedicate my life to pitching, gourmet food, and alcohol! I was invited by my friend Lotte Yaro to drink in Nerima, and we ended up at this place. It had a fun atmosphere from noon, perfect for enjoying the first round of drinks! First, I had a refreshing cucumber and shochu. The shochu had a sharp alcohol taste, giving a pure and refreshing feeling. The cucumber was well seasoned with garlic, creating a perfect combination of soft cucumber, sesame oil, and garlic spice. Then, I tried a green tea highball. It had a nice Japanese-style taste, and the octopus added a great umami flavor with a fantastic texture. The green tea highball was smooth and delicious, adding to the enjoyment of drinking. It was a satisfying and enjoyable izakaya, with a true Japanese pub vibe. It was excellent! See you next time!

On a regular night, I visited Naniwa for a second round of drinks after visiting another place. When I sat down, they had alcohol disinfectant, but no temperature checks, and the seating was a bit close together. I didn't know much about the place beforehand, but the recommended dish was the yakitori, so I ended up trying about 12 skewers. While waiting, I had a highball. The yakitori was just delicious. Each skewer was small, but the prices were surprisingly low, ranging from 90 yen to 120 yen per skewer. Despite the low prices, the taste was great. I especially enjoyed the thick and sweet sauce that made me crave white rice, adding a touch of indulgence to the second round of drinks. The only thing that bothered me was that smoking was allowed inside the restaurant. Smokers, from IQOS to regular cigarettes, filled the place with purple smoke. The bill came out to around 4,400 yen for 8 drinks and 12 skewers for 4 people. It was surprisingly cheap. It was a moment of breaking even.

Nerima Station, where the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and Oedo Line intersect, is a moderately busy terminal station with many bus routes. The area around the north exit is relatively calm, but the south exit is lined with bustling shops and restaurants. Along a narrow street leading to Mejiro-dori, there are several eateries, and this particular restaurant is located there. I have been a regular at a similar standing bar near Shinjuku East Exit, but this was my second visit to the Nerima branch. It was just past 3 pm on this day, a bit early for evening drinks. I sat at the counter and decided to go with Hoppy instead of my usual draft beer. I ordered a set of white Hoppy and yakitori. The yakitori selection was quite extensive, with 2 skewers of heart, tongue, and white meat each. I leisurely enjoyed my Hoppy. In less than 10 minutes, the yakitori arrived. I started with the heart skewer, which paired perfectly with its rich saltiness. I then tried it with the spicy miso paste, which was also delicious. After finishing one skewer, I moved on to the tongue. It had a different richness compared to beef tongue, almost fatty, and was also delicious. The white meat skewer was exceptional, with a great texture and flavor. It paired well with the Hoppy too. I had two refills of Hoppy that day, and the total bill was less than 1500 yen. I'm interested in trying the cartilage, teppo, and other yakitori options next time, as well as their famous stew and ham cabbage. I'll definitely come back for a more leisurely drink next time.

First visit to Harutaya in Nerima. They have solid COVID-19 measures in place, so I felt safe entering. Chicken skin with ponzu sauce for 250 yen! It's so cheap and delicious, it feels like I'm in Hakata. The beef tendon stew was also great. The yakiton and yakitori were both delicious with the sauce. The sauce is a bit on the sweet side. All the skewers were tasty. The corn I ordered as an extra was full of sweetness! The beef skewer for 150 yen is a super deal! The only downside was that the drinks had too much ice, so the actual amount was a bit less. I enjoyed my meal quickly and left satisfied.

I visited the restaurant "Taishu Sakaba Nerima Harutaya" for the first time on a Saturday with a reservation. The place was about 50-60% full, and we were seated at a table without having to wait. We ordered dishes like simmered tofu with pork intestines, various skewers, fried chicken, spicy cod roe with sardines, and fried river shrimp. Everything tasted good, but the simmered tofu with pork intestines was especially delicious with its rich flavor! If I have the chance to visit Nerima again, I would love to come for a daytime drink.

The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious. It feels clean, yet somehow nostalgic, which is comforting in a way. I sat at the counter and promptly ordered a draft beer. Drinking the chilled beer helped me relax. It's so refreshing on a hot day! For snacks, I ordered grilled pork tongue and simmered tofu. These are the signature dishes I always order at this restaurant in Shinjuku. The simmered tofu arrived quickly. It's simple, flavorful, and delicious, making it a perfect match for the alcohol. Next came the grilled pork tongue. I ordered tongue and heart, and the taste of the grilled pork tongue was rich and delicious. I can't eat much, but lately I find grilled pork tongue tastier than yakitori, and it pairs well with alcohol. Since grilled pork tongue goes well with a refreshing drink, I ordered an oolong highball. It's refreshing. The alcohol and snacks are delicious and cheap! The atmosphere is also great, making it a perfect place for a casual drink.

After finishing my nails, I met up with a friend and we headed to a pizzeria we were curious about. To our surprise, it was temporarily closed, so we wandered around the drinking district and ended up here! Unlike the second branch we visited with Miki before, which opens at 4pm on weekdays, this branch opens at 12pm every day. Despite not having a lunch menu, it had decent foot traffic. Everyone was drinking, of course. It's a nice neighborhood! We tried the following dishes here: - Buttered potato skewers: Crispy potatoes with a buttery flavor. The leftover butter (or margarine?) was good for dipping. - Cheese ham cutlet: Hot and gooey cheese. There was no sauce on the table, but the cutlet was already seasoned. - Fried sardine skewers: The tartar sauce with lots of pickles was delicious! - Extra-large meatballs with egg yolk: Definitely big! The rich egg yolk paired well with the sweet sauce. - Fish cake with cheese: Fluffy and tasty. - Chicken tenderloin with plum and shiso: A reliable and delicious choice. The variety of skewers was impressive, and we didn't try the typical yakitori or grilled chicken, but this approach worked well. Everything was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I visited this izakaya on Saturday afternoon. There were quite a few people drinking at this time. I joined them and had some yakitori and yakiton. We tried several dishes, but the extra large tsukune with raw egg yolk was delicious. It took a bit of time to cook due to its size. It's a common combination, but dipping the tsukune in the egg yolk makes it tasty. Personally, I prefer when the green onions are mixed into the tsukune and cooked, rather than placed on top. It was a representative shop of a popular bar near Nerima Station. However, it has changed a bit recently. I always order the chicken salt fried chicken and menchi-katsu. I also drink Hoppy. I like this combination and always order it. However, the amount of fried chicken has drastically decreased. It used to be about 5 pieces per plate, but this time it was only 3 pieces. Also, the menchi-katsu used to be more plump and crispy, but... The spicy miso for grilling has been missing from the table for a while, but recently the taste has changed too. Maybe the restaurant is struggling because they have more locations now.

This popular restaurant, which was featured in the 9th episode of Ad-machi Nerima and Toshimaen, always seems to be bustling with customers. The number of stores has also increased significantly. Even though I often lightly criticize this place, I find myself visiting a few times a year. I apologize for being cheeky. However, I still can't bring myself to try the grilled sea bream, so I focused on the lineup I established last time. The appearance is similar to last time. The tomato kimchi, which had disappeared for a while, has made a comeback, which is great news. But when will the oden make a comeback? There used to be oden specialty shops in the north and south of Nerima, but they have both closed down, so there seems to be a demand. The menu is as follows: Tomato Kimchi (price forgotten), Chicken Salt Karaage (180 yen), Hokkai Tako Butsu (380 yen), Iwashi no Sumeshi (380 yen), Beni Shoga Kushi (120 yen for 2 skewers). I may not have much to write about this place anymore, so I may not post for a while. I haven't been exploring Nerima lately.
