This is a shop located across from the Art and Culture Center building. I've always been curious about it, but never had the courage to go in. Today, I finally did! I ordered the braised pork rice lunch set and an iced cafe latte at the counter right away. The owner seemed to be from Taiwan, with a kind and likable vibe. The first-floor seating area had brick floors with small cushions for sitting. Without the cushions, it might be hard to sit, especially if wearing a flowy skirt. The lunch set arrived after a short wait! The portion of braised pork rice was quite generous, served in a bowl filled with rice and topped with a heap of sweet and savory braised pork. I couldn't stop eating! It also came with side dishes like simmered bamboo shoots, thick fried tofu, cabbage stew, and pickles, along with miso soup. A well-balanced meal that left me feeling full. The iced cafe latte was a bit light, but the gesture of serving it after the meal was thoughtful. It can get pricey when you add a drink separately, so it would be nice if they offered a set price for drinks with sweets. I'm curious about their desserts, so I'll save that for next time. The first-floor seating might be challenging for men as the tables are unique and make it hard to find a place for your legs.

I felt like eating Taiwanese food, so I went for lunch. The Lu Rou Fan with three side dishes and soup for 1250 yen was quite good. The Lu Rou Fan had a nice balance of fat and star anise, and it was delicious. The side dishes had plenty of vegetables, which was nice. The seating is limited, so it's not a place to linger, but I would recommend it for women.

The seasoning of the side dishes was just right, not too strong or too weak. The braised pork rice had no peculiar taste, the seasoning of the pickled vegetables was not too strong, and the meat was tender and very delicious. I was happy to get a variety of vegetables as I usually feel like I don't get enough. The portion was just right for women, satisfying but not overly filling. I would like to visit again.

Luroo rice set for 1,250 yen. Opens at 11:00! I was the first one there when it opened. I was able to eat a variety of dishes and was satisfied with the portion size. The seating is limited, with 6 seats on the second floor and 4 seats on the first floor. It's a cozy little shop run by a couple and has a nice atmosphere!

I visited Takuru cafe, a cafe in Kita-Senju run by a Taiwanese owner where you can enjoy authentic Taiwanese flavors. I ordered the Basque cheesecake (500 yen) and an espresso (450 yen). Although I should have tried the Taiwanese menu items, I couldn't resist the variety of options including American classic hot sandwich "Reuben sandwich", panini, and various sweets. The Basque cheesecake had a cute shape with a gentle burnt top and a slightly souffle-like texture. The price of 500 yen for the Basque cheesecake was quite reasonable. Cafes in the Kita-Senju area are wallet-friendly, which is great. They also offer dishes like Lu Rou Fan for a satisfying lunch. They have Taiwanese sweets like Taiwanese castella, Taiwanese tea, and pineapple cake, which I would like to try next time. The cafe was empty when I visited on a weekday before noon. I was the only one on the second floor until I left. You order on the first floor and can eat on the first floor or at the counter on the second floor. After finishing your meal, you return the dishes on the first floor. Dogs are allowed on the first floor, and there was a parent with a baby when I left. The cafe has limited seating, making it perfect for a quick lunch or tea for 1-2 people. I look forward to visiting again soon to try other menu items. I enjoyed my meal on this day as well. Thank you for the delicious food.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a cafe that only serves drinks and desserts, but you can enjoy delicious meals as well. Because there are few seats, there are times when you cannot enter for lunch. You need to order and pay at the register first, and it is a semi-self-service style where you return the dishes yourself, so it can't be helped. The authentic lo-lo rice was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

[Overall Impression] Located about a 4-minute walk from Kitasenju Station, this café has been renovated with a stylish touch and offers a menu with a mix of Taiwanese flavors. While primarily a café, they also serve lunch, which I tried this time. As a fan of Taiwan cuisine, I naturally opted for the braised pork on rice (^_^) I visited with casual expectations, but the braised pork on rice exceeded my imagination with its authentic taste. The side dishes were also delicious, making the lunch experience quite high-level! Although it is a bit on the pricey side compared to more authentic Taiwanese restaurants, I was completely satisfied with the atmosphere included. I originally thought it was a trendy café or dessert shop, but I found out through a review from an acquaintance that they also serve lunch. Moreover, they seem to offer quite unique dishes beyond typical café fare. I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon to check it out (^_^) The shop has a simple façade made of brick and glass. From the outside, it's a bit hard to tell what kind of shop it is. Inside, the first floor is a café space with face-to-face sales of sweets, and the second floor is an eat-in space with a counter for 6 people. While primarily a café, the lunch menu includes braised pork on rice, panini, and sandwiches with a unique mix of Taiwanese influences. The sweets include Basque cheesecake and Taiwanese castella, offering a tempting selection of delights. Since I visited for lunch, I ordered the braised pork on rice without hesitation, but it seems like a nice spot for café use as well. The staff are all stylish, and the customers who visit also have a chic vibe. In contrast, I'm just a middle-aged guy who's not very fashionable (^_^;) - Braised Pork on Rice Set: 1250 yen The set includes braised pork on rice, simmered eggplant, turnip and its leaves, pickles, and miso soup. It feels like a hybrid set meal combining Taiwanese and Japanese flavors. The braised pork on rice has a firm texture rather than being melt-in-your-mouth, with a quite sweet sauce. It blends well with the soft rice. The side dishes and small dishes are meticulously prepared and delicious. The miso soup has a rich umami flavor, which is a nice touch. The braised pork on rice that I came for was delicious, and the accompanying side dishes were also tasty. This set meal has a really excellent composition. [Final Thoughts] I mistakenly assumed it wasn't a place to have a meal, but I deeply regret that now. The braised pork on rice here is as delicious as at a specialized Taiwanese restaurant. While it is primarily a café, the dishes are surprisingly well-prepared. It has definitely become one of my lunch options (^_^) Today's bill came to 1250 yen. Thank you for the meal.

A shop located on the west side of Kitasenju Oofumikiri Street. The interior is refreshing and stylish, with 4 seats on the 1st floor and 6 seats on the 2nd floor. The atmosphere of the city seen from the window on the 2nd floor is calm. I had the Lourou rice bowl set for lunch. It comes with side dishes, which is nice for a healthy meal. The Lourou rice bowl was served in a small teacup but had a good amount of volume, and the broth was plentiful. The miso soup was low in salt, making it healthy.

.Takuru cafe @ Kita-Senju────────────────────◎Ruben Sandwich ¥750◎Cafe Latte ¥550◎Walnut Brownie ¥390────────────────────\ Stylish Taiwanese cafe /First time landing in Kita-Senju‍♀️ Heard about a cafe run by a Taiwanese owner and decided to visit! Since it was a weekday, we were able to get in easily◎Selected the Ruben Sandwich with the stretchy cheese that we often see on Instagram! It was a thin hot sandwich with two layers, very satisfying to eat◎The walnut bread was really delicious, but what surprised us even more was the walnut brownie! It might be the most impressed I've been recently...!! When you dine in, the staff warms it up for you, and the crumbly brownie that falls apart, with the texture of the walnuts, was really delicious... There are seating areas on the 1st and 2nd floors, both with a nice atmosphere✊-----------------------------【Gourmet account created by childhood friends】Please follow us on Instagram♡Mie Gourmet▶︎@mogumogumieTokyo Gourmet▶︎@mogumogu__tokyo-----------------------------

Weekend before 11:30. First group of customers. The first floor has cute brick-lined chairs. The second floor has a pop atmosphere with high tables. The hanging lamps and plants from the ceiling are also cute. - Reuben Sandwich (tax included 750 yen) - Cafe Latte (tax included 550 yen) A simple salad with French dressing. The Reuben Sandwich is a classic American hot sandwich. The bread contains black rice and walnuts, giving it a crunchy texture. The sourness of the sauerkraut is also a nice touch! The latte cup is made of colorful Arita ware, which is also cute. It's a slightly unusual heart shape, maybe intentionally soft, or a mistake... Payment is cash or PayPay only. I thought it was in an alley, but surprisingly it's on a big street near an intersection. The customers were quite unexpected, mostly women in their 50s. The presence of dogs is allowed in the store.

"Takuru" is a natural cafe that blends seamlessly into the neighborhood of Kita-Senju. The first-floor bench inside the cafe is made of bricks, which also extend outside where a brick-surrounded flower bed with dandelions growing energetically can be found. The menu includes a Ruben sandwich, Americano, and Cafe Latte. The coffee beans used by "Takuru" are carefully hand-picked by farmers in East Timor, resulting in a soft bitterness, gentle sweetness, and smooth mouthfeel. These beans also support coffee producers and female farmers in East Timor and women affected by the civil war in Sri Lanka. The hot drinks are served in Imari ware cups, making it a meaningful and enjoyable cafe experience. Why not try a hot drink during this chilly season? ☀️

A lovely cafe in Kita-Senju opened on April 15th! It seems to be run by a woman from Taiwan on her own, and there is also seating on the second floor. The freshly made panini was delicious, and the hojicha latte served in a beautiful glass was so tasty I wanted more! It was a cozy and healing experience. Pets are also allowed.

The Rubel Sand bread has black rice and walnuts kneaded into it. The more you chew, the sweeter it gets, making you want to buy just the bread alone to take home! The Basque cheesecake is also moist and rich in flavor, addictive. They also offer dishes like Lu Rou Fan, daily specials, Taiwanese castella, and baked goods that all look delicious. The pet-friendly interior with second-floor seating is recommended for a relaxing time. Ruben Sand: ¥750, Basque Cheesecake: ¥450, Iced Latte: ¥550.

There is a Taiwanese lady running this place on her own. I went during lunchtime and shared the popular Reuben sandwich and cheesecake. The Reuben sandwich is a hot sandwich made with crispy black rice walnut bread, ham, sauerkraut, and plenty of cheese. The cheese was so melty and delicious! The Basque cheesecake was firm and chewy, with a mild sweetness. I fell in love with the Imari ware cup for my drink, so I ended up ordering a hot latte even though it was hot outside. The lady at the shop was very kind, and I felt comfortable, so I will definitely go back. By the way, dogs are allowed inside the shop. ▷ order ▷ ☑︎ Reuben sandwich ¥750 ☑︎ Basque cheesecake ¥450 ☑︎ Iced latte ¥550 ☑︎ Hot latte ¥550

The iced cafe latte was perfect for the hot weather. I got it to go, and the cafe's exterior was simple, stylish, and cute. I'll include a photo of the exterior. The cafe latte was smooth with just the right amount of coffee bitterness - delicious! I'd love to dine in next time. The Taiwanese food and desserts looked so tasty!

Takuru is a cafe located about a 7-minute walk from JR Kita-Senju Station West Exit, which opened on April 15, 2022. It is closed on Mondays and operates from 11:00 to 17:00 (last order at 16:30). They offer lunch sets, paninis, drinks, desserts, and more. To get there, walk from the west exit along the station front street towards the Nikko Kaido direction, turn left at the corner of Don Quijote, and enter the Senju Honcho Shotengai (old Nikko Kaido). Keep going until you cross the Oofumikiri Street. It is located near Brasserie L'Onomatope, where there used to be a tapioca milk tea shop called Whale Kita-Senju. If you visit around 1 pm on weekends, you may find about 4 seats available on the 1st floor with no prior customers. You can place your order and pay at the counter where the menu is displayed. Let them know if you want to use the 2nd floor, and they will bring your order up as soon as it's ready. Upstairs, there is a counter with 6 seats overlooking the intersection. They offer lunch sets (11:00-14:30) and All day breakfast options, including two types of lunch sets and three types of All day breakfast items. The Mushroom Melt Panini for 650 yen comes with a salad and features mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, shredded cheese, and red wine vinegar. The panini is served on a plate with a fresh salad, and the bread, which appears purple, contains black rice and walnuts for a fragrant taste. The melted cheese and mushrooms are delicious. The owner has recreated the taste of sandwiches they used to enjoy at a sandwich shop in Singapore, providing a satisfying experience beyond the price. I would like to try the Lu Rou Fan, today's lunch special like the Tomato Beef Stew, and Mapo Tofu next time. After finishing your meal, return the dishes to the 1st floor and say thank you for the delicious meal.
