Ms. Mai Izumi, you are now a regular at the department store basement, aren't you? I went to buy lunch. I went a little early, so they only had the popular loin cutlet, not the fillet. I walked around and when I came back, they had started selling the fillet as well. It was good that I waited a little longer. (laughs) The fillet cutlet bento box costs 853 yen, and I took it home. It was still slightly warm. The cutlet was fluffy, tender, and had a crispy texture. The quality is high. It was just enough with the rice, filling me up to about 80%. It might be suitable for those with smaller appetites.

This is a review of a famous tonkatsu specialty restaurant called Mai Izumi, with its main store located in Aoyama, Tokyo. They have a directly managed store in Solamachi, and a total of 12 stores in Tokyo. On a certain day in February when the COVID-19 situation had temporarily improved, I had the opportunity to try their popular Hire Katsu Sandwich before a movie screening event in Tokyo on a weekday night. I purchased the Hire Katsu Sandwich (3 slices for 421 yen) on the way. The hire (fillet) meat, which is over 1cm thick, was tender, and the sauce had a refined, not overly sweet flavor. The bread was also of good quality, soft and delicious. The Hire Katsu Sandwich was packed with deliciousness. I often attend movie screenings, but when it's a weekday night after work, I usually opt for convenience store onigiri or sandwiches for a quick meal before the movie starts. Eating too much can make me sleepy during the movie, so it's better to have just the right amount. The Hire Katsu Sandwich from Mai Izumi was definitely tastier than convenience store onigiri, and it was just the right portion. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant review score is 3.03. This is a tonkatsu bento shop located on the second floor of Soramachi. I often used to eat their tonkatsu sandwiches when traveling on the Shinkansen, but this was my first time buying a bento here. I was in the area that day and decided to get a bento for dinner. There were several options, but I chose the classic fillet cutlet bento. Even after some time has passed, the meat is not greasy, and it tastes delicious even when cold. It's definitely worth trying.

On a certain weekday night, I was quite busy so I decided to have dinner with a bento box. I bought a pork cutlet bento box from "Tonkatsu Maisen Tokyo Solamachi store". I don't remember the price, but it was quite a good deal since it was late at night. I just heated up the cutlet in the microwave and tried it. There were not many vegetables, but the cutlet was delicious as expected from Maisen. I ate it with mustard and sauce, and it was a satisfying dinner. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

On the 2nd floor of Solamachi, there is a food court where I always go to Maiizumi-san. This time, I ended up buying it for dinner again. Sometimes, close to dinner time, Solamachi lowers the prices, and this time the katsu sandwich was a bit cheaper. The thin bread with thick, tender katsu and sweet sauce with a hint of mustard that adds a bit of spiciness is still delicious.

Mai Izumi is the kind of place that makes you crave their food as soon as you think about it. I couldn't resist getting their katsu sandwich for dinner on my way home from work. It's located in the food section, right next to Pao Pao's pork buns. The sauce, the thin bread, and the tender katsu all come together perfectly.

I thought it was a bit far to come to Tokyo Solamachi, which is not close to my home (there is a store nearby), but I wanted to buy some savory bread in addition to the sweet bread I already had in my hand, so I stopped by Mai Izumi, which I happened to see. I have been liking it a lot lately and often buy mini burgers. I bought 2 Mini Menchi Katsu Burgers for 151 yen each. Tax included. If I don't buy 2, sometimes my son will take them before I can eat them. (^-^; I like the small bite-sized Mini Menchi Katsu Burger, with a round Menchi Katsu bun coated with sweet tonkatsu sauce. The height and taste are just right for one serving, and I like that the portion size is modest. Also, I'm happy that it's more affordable than the Hire Katsu Burger or Ebi Katsu Burger. The buns were a little bit soft on this day, but that was covered by the sauce and meat juices. I enjoyed it deliciously that day too.

This is a shop on the 2nd floor of Tokyo Solamachi. They have their main store in Aoyama, and the Solamachi store is takeout only. I bought a bento because they were having a discount sale. The bento mainly consists of neatly cut, slightly small pork cutlet. It also comes with hijiki, kinpira burdock, and pickles. In addition to the regular Maisen sauce, they also provide a refreshing grated sauce. While the restaurant is known for its uncompromising tonkatsu, the cutlet in the bento doesn't seem to have any outstanding features or particular attention to detail. I would like to try the difference at the Aoyama main store.

On this day, there was a Neapolitan event happening so I went to Skytree. I was planning to try out various Neapolitan dishes, but when I got there, there was a long line... Perhaps because it rained the day before, everyone came on Sunday, which was a big miscalculation. So, I had to quickly look for another place to eat. Both the restaurants and food court were overflowing with customers, so I decided to buy a bento box to take home. While I was thinking about what to get, I saw the sign for Maisen! Suddenly, I felt like having tonkatsu, so I bought the pork cutlet bento box. Even when it cooled down, it didn't get greasy and remained tender. Maisen is truly amazing in that aspect! Next time, I will go to Solamachi to buy a bento box from Maisen!!

I walk in front of Skytree almost every day, but I rarely actually go inside because it's always so crowded. On this day, I decided to go in and buy a bento to eat at home. I was torn between the pork cutlet and the pork loin, but ended up getting the pork loin cutlet bento for 777 yen. The cutlet looked big, but the breading was thick. The meat was tender, but thin. For 777 yen, I guess it's not bad. Maybe I should have just gotten the pork cutlet sandwich instead? Thank you for the meal.

This is a tonkatsu restaurant that originated in Bunkyo Ward, known for its katsu sandwich. It was established in December 1965 as an independent branch from Inoue in Chiyoda Ward, located in the basement of the Mitsui Building in Yurakucho. It is currently a subsidiary of Suntory.
Product:
- Sandwich: Hire Katsu Sandwich (6 slices) ... 777 yen
Each slice measures approximately 8cm in length, 3.3cm in width, and 3cm in height. Each pack contains 3 slices, with 2 packs in a box for a total of 6 slices. The weight of 3 slices is approximately 111g, making the total weight of a box (6 slices) around 222g. The nutritional content for 6 slices is 642kcal. Despite not looking very filling, being a katsu sandwich makes it high in calories. The bread, specially baked according to a designated recipe, is moist and complements the katsu well. The bread slices are neatly cut without being dry or crumbly. Each slice of the sandwich contains half a piece of hire katsu, so 6 slices (1 box) equals 3 pieces of hire katsu. The hire meat, with little fat, remains delicious even when cold. It is tender without any tough parts. The sauce specifically for hire katsu sandwich is fruity, sweet, and has a refreshing aftertaste. Considering the portion size, it may not be cheap, but it was undeniably delicious.

The long-established restaurant "Tonkatsu Maisen" has various branches. It seems like Aoyama is the main branch, where you can dine in (although I've never been there, it seems like you can enjoy delicious tonkatsu there). When I passed by the store on the 2nd floor of Solamachi, I told my husband, "Maisen is delicious, right?" and he said he had never tried it. So, I suggested we buy some.
Tonkatsu Sandwich (6 pieces) - 525 yen
Each piece is small, but the tonkatsu has a good volume. I ended up eating 3 pieces before taking a picture. It's so delicious! Even my husband and child said it's delicious. I wonder if there are people who don't like Maisen's tonkatsu sandwiches? Some people prefer to heat them up, but I like them cold because the meat is moist and tender.
They also sell Demi Tamago Sandwich, Ebi Katsu Sandwich, Potato Salad Sandwich, and more. It's not really tonkatsu anymore, but the person in front of me bought it, so maybe it's delicious? When someone buys it, it makes me curious too (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by the Skytree to grab something to eat after drinking at another place, but everywhere seemed to be closing after 10 pm. Luckily, I found a kiosk that was still open and bought a "Hire Katsu Sandwich" for around 300 yen. I enjoyed it as a snack with my evening drink when I got back to the office. I usually prefer "Rosu" (pork loin) over "Hire" (pork fillet), but late at night, "Hire" was also good. The picture only shows two pieces, but I'm pretty sure there were three. I had a great time enjoying it with beer. I would like to visit the restaurant next time, but it seems like only the kiosk is available. It's a shame it's been a while since I visited the Aoyama branch, but I enjoyed my meal at Maisen after a long time.

I went on May 27th. This is a store located on the 2nd floor of Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, in the Food Marche. The Food Marche on the 2nd floor of Solamachi is like a department store basement, where various side dishes and bento boxes are sold. The store includes both classic department store shops and more traditional shops, making it an enjoyable place to explore. There are also many shops offering free samples, so you can easily fill up on snacks just by trying them out. This Maishoen shop is a famous tonkatsu restaurant from Aoyama. I was surprised by the affordability of the katsudon priced at ¥525, so I bought it. The tonkatsu came wrapped in a thick paper, and it was still warm when I bought it for lunch. It came with chopsticks, a wet towel, and pickled ginger. The tonkatsu sauce had a strong soy sauce flavor, and the pork cutlet was large and covered in egg. The meat was not extremely tender but had a solid texture. The meal was filling with plenty of rice. Overall, the tonkatsu bowl was a good deal and had a rating of 3.2. The store had a bright atmosphere and offered a variety of tonkatsu dishes and bento boxes. The value for money was rated at 3.5. It was a pleasant and affordable dining option in the Solamachi area.

I wanted to have lunch at the food court on the 3rd floor of Solamachi, but it was full, so I decided to go down to the food marche below and look for something to buy and eat outside. I found a place that is famous for their katsu sandwich, but since I have had katsu sandwiches before, I opted for fried items this time. I got a crab cream croquette (147 yen) and a minced cutlet (168 yen). They gave me two sauces since I bought two items, which was nice. They weren't freshly fried, so it was a bit disappointing, but the taste was good and flavorful. However, if I were to eat it as a proper lunch, the katsu sandwich might have been a better choice. It seemed like the area was mostly focused on fried foods, as there were many fried food shops around. I became curious to try out various items.
