"Hidezou," a popular restaurant known for its affordable and delicious fish, has added a new group restaurant in Dotonbori, Minami. The new addition is called "Tachizushi Hidezou," and as the name suggests, it is a standing sushi bar. As a sushi and drinks lover, I definitely had to visit for some drinks!
About the restaurant:
Located right next to the WINS off-track betting venue in Dotonbori, the restaurant has a retro-style exterior and interior with a calming, adult atmosphere. The standing tables available for drinking are in an L-shaped counter facing the kitchen and a small standing table, making it a cozy and intimate space. I visited right after opening hours and was able to get in without any wait time.
Food I tried:
Starting with a cold beer, I then ordered some dishes to try:
- Sashimi platter: Five kinds of sashimi including fresh octopus, sea bream, bonito tataki, seared Spanish mackerel, and sardine. Each piece was delicious with varying textures and flavors.
- Kotsujime: A rare dish of kotsujime as an appetizer, with a nice balance of acidity and saltiness.
- Grilled squid legs: Grilled over charcoal, the squid legs were tender and flavorful, with a crispy surface.
- Sushi: I also tried various sushi including cherry salmon, large-cut belt fish, Satsuma sweet shrimp, ark shell, ark shell, sea eel, and toro-taku roll. Each piece was fresh and tasty, with the toro-taku roll as a satisfying end to the meal.
Overall, the fish was delicious and paired well with the drinks. I tried five different sake brands during my visit and enjoyed them all. After about an hour of drinking, I had tried all five brands and the total bill came to 8300 yen. It was a bit pricey, but considering the quality of food and drinks, it was worth it. I had a great time and will definitely come back for another visit. Thank you for the meal!
