出張族の出張飯
Founded over 20 years ago, this well-established tempura restaurant in Kita-Shinchi is known for its high-quality tempura dishes. While dinner can be pricey, ranging from 10,000 yen and up, the lunch menu offers a more affordable option starting at 1,500 yen.
On this particular day, I decided to treat my girlfriend, who always helps me at work, to lunch at this renowned restaurant. We arrived at 11:30 AM, and there were already a few groups waiting. By the time we finished, the restaurant was fully booked with the next group of customers.
We ordered the Ebi Tendon (shrimp tempura rice bowl) for 1,500 yen and the W Ebi Tendon for 2,000 yen. While waiting at the counter, we watched the head chef fry the tempura in a large pot. Our orders arrived in about 20 minutes.
The dishes included shrimp, white fish wrapped in shiso leaves, squid, lotus root, green pepper, eggplant, and pumpkin. The tempura was freshly fried, giving it a crispy texture even after dipping it in the tempura sauce. The sauce itself was not too strong, with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The large shrimp had a satisfying texture, while the white fish wrapped in shiso leaves was the highlight of the meal, with a fluffy texture and a refreshing shiso aroma that enhanced the natural flavors of the ingredients.
The side dishes included pickles and miso soup, with the pickles being slightly aged and flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly to complement the tempura and sauce. The overall experience, including the attentive service, was perfect.
