Located along the Shinobazu Street, around halfway between Nezu Station on the Chiyoda Line and Sendagi Station. Today's purchases: Soy sauce 100 yen, Salad 100 yen, Zaramé 100 yen, Natto rice cracker 540 yen. The rice cracker is not too hard, easy for everyone to enjoy. The salad is different from store-bought salad senbei. Zaramé and natto rice cracker were delicious, a pleasant surprise. It's handmade, so don't underestimate the "flavor" of the natto rice cracker. It has green onions and natto on top of the rice cracker with cheese! Thank you for the meal (^o^)

Ten years ago, Rakugo comedian Tachikawa Danshi lived in a mansion where there is a rice cracker shop that has been around for over 95 years on the first floor. The signboard and curtain of the shop were reportedly created by Master Danshi himself. I bought the "Zarame Daimaru / 540 yen" rice cracker, which has large grains of sugar on it. It requires flipping each piece over to get the sugar on both sides, so it's a bit of work, as the shop owner explained. The other rice cracker I didn't buy is slightly smaller, so you can sprinkle sugar on multiple rice crackers and mix them together to get it to stick, he also mentioned. Oh, it's "handmade" ... The shop owner, who looks like a second-floor chairman without any poison, taught me that. I also bought the other type, "Nezu Yaki / 324 yen." I brought both rice crackers to my workplace. Both were delicious and sold like hotcakes. (I didn't pay for them) Both had a light and refreshing taste. The Zarame had a refreshing sweetness, while the Nezu Yaki had plenty of sesame in a light soy sauce flavor. I enjoyed them with hot tea (^^) /

I bought roasted rice crackers for 324 yen and Tsutsuji rice crackers (shrimp salad flavor) for 108 yen at a rice cracker shop along the Nakano Street for a snack. Rice crackers are often a healthier option compared to other snacks, so I tend to buy them for snacks. While fried rice crackers are similar to snack foods fried in oil, ...

Rice crackers are light, senbei is also crispy, but the flavor is solid, yet not too intense. The balance is nice. I want to try other items too. (^^)

Thanks to specific health guidance, I've been trying to walk more lately. On this day, I got off at Sendagi on my way back from an outing, and walked through streets like Funabansui, Gongendo, and Hongo to Iidabashi. Along the way, I stopped by this shop near Nezu Shrine. It's a long-established senbei (rice cracker) shop founded in 1925, located on the first floor of an apartment building along the street. I love traditional senbei shops, and I've been curious about this one for a while because it was a favorite of the late Rakugo master, Tachikawa Danshi. It was my first time visiting. Despite being a long-established shop, it was quite clean and tidy. On the right side of the shop, there was a corner for baking senbei. Inside, the senior third-generation owner was manning the store alone. In the back of the shop, there was a framed autograph from Danshi, which read "Yaegaki Senbei - Hana-ya of Shitamachi." There were over 50 varieties of senbei lined up, with flavors like black pepper, basil, peperoncino, and sauce. It was quite different from Asakusa's Iriyama Senbei, which only has one soy sauce-flavored senbei despite also being a long-established shop. As a first-timer, I decided to start with the "Shitamachi no Hana" series in soy sauce and negi-miso flavors. Each pack contained 5 pieces and cost 342 yen. When I opened the pack at the office, I found that these senbei were relatively thin compared to other traditional ones. The thicker, firmer ones have a solid texture, but these were light and could be eaten like a snack. The simple soy sauce flavor was slightly sweet, and the negi-miso had a great flavor of miso and green onions that lingered. I found myself finishing about three pieces in no time. Before I knew it, the two packs of 10 senbei had dwindled to about two pieces each. Next time, I'd like to try the peperoncino flavor. By the way, the title "Mamushi" refers to Fukamushi Santayu, who used to carry the cushions for the Rakugo master Danshi during his time as the host of the TV show "Shouten." I haven't watched it recently, but I think it was the most entertaining back then.

After watching the azalea festival at the Negishi Shrine, I made a detour on the way back. Unfortunately, the freshly baked rice crackers were not available as it was still early. As a souvenir, I bought rice crackers with matcha sprinkled on top. Inside, there were black sesame rice crackers. The rice crackers were quite hard. First, there was the sweetness of the sugar. Then came the sweet and bitter taste of the matcha. Inside, there were plenty of black sesame seeds, giving off a fragrant aroma. The coating was thick, and the rice crackers were hard. It left a strong impression. I think the combination of matcha and black sesame creates a nice, fragrant effect. They were individually wrapped and came in a pack of five.

After visiting the hospital, I took a stroll in Yanaka, and came across a rice cracker shop that I had been curious about for a while. It's a rice cracker store that handles unique rice crackers, and I was surprised to see flavors like basil inside. When I asked the owner about it, he said they sprinkle powdered sweet and savory soy sauce on them. Intrigued, I ended up buying them along with cheese and other variety packs. - Unusual: The rice cracker is about 5x2 cm in size. It has a light brown color and a sweet and savory soy sauce powder sprinkled on top. It has a toasty rice cracker aroma, with sweetness lingering at the beginning and end, and a light saltiness in between, making it very interesting. - Shrimp: The rice cracker is the same size as the unusual one, with a thin pink rice cracker base and pink specks scattered throughout. It has a light brown color and when you bite into it, you taste the flavor of shrimp, followed by saltiness and a light sweetness from the rice. It's similar to Calbee's Kappa Ebisen, and the light texture makes it dangerously easy to eat. Highly recommended. - Cheese: Similar in size to the shrimp and unusual rice crackers, this one has a light color and a faint cheese aroma. It could use a bit more flavor, but it's not bad. It lacks a strong flavor profile, which is disappointing. Variety Pack from Yanaka: - Seaweed: About 10 cm in diameter, with a light brown color and abundant seaweed. The rice cracker is light and easy to eat, with a well-balanced soy sauce flavor that's not too salty, but rich in umami. The seaweed flavor is good, and it's been a while since I've had such a delicious rice cracker. The rice used is of good quality, and the sweetness and aroma of the rice linger at the end. - Crackling Soy Sauce: About 10 cm in diameter, with cracks throughout the soy sauce-based rice cracker. The rice cracker has a light texture, a savory burnt soy sauce aroma, and a flavorful taste without being too salty. The soy sauce used is really delicious. It's not as smooth on the surface as regular rice crackers, but the cracked soy sauce adds a nice balance. The sweetness is likely from the rice. - Maltose: About 10 cm in diameter, with a noticeable brown color on the rice cracker base. The maltose isn't too thick or large, so it may not seem like there's much at first glance. The sweetness of the maltose comes first, followed by the salty soy sauce, creating a delicious sweet and salty combination. The soy sauce is saltier than regular soy sauce rice crackers, and it's a good balance. It was delicious. - Sesame: About 10 cm in diameter, slightly smaller than the others. It has a generous amount of black sesame seeds, a light brown color with a hint of soy sauce. The aroma of sesame is strong, and the flavor is rich. The soy sauce is flavorful without being too salty, making it really delicious. The sweetness of the rice may not be easily noticeable, but the strong aroma of sesame makes it tasty. - Seaweed: About 10 cm in diameter, with a light brown color and seaweed rolled on both sides. The seaweed is dark, with a good thickness, and the rice cracker is crispy and flavorful. The seaweed aroma is good, and it's really delicious. The rice cracker is light, with a balanced soy sauce flavor that brings out the sweetness of the rice. Seaweed is always a good choice. This one is ===========

This is a rice cracker shop near Konan Station. There are many rice cracker shops in this area, and although I had already visited Kikumisenbei Main Store and Daikokuya on the same day, I didn't plan on visiting this shop. However, I happened to pass by so I decided to stop by (laughs). This shop also sells unique rice crackers flavored with ingredients like peperoncino and basil. Even my husband, who doesn't eat rice crackers often, thought he might try them. In the end, we chose flavors that suited our preferences. We bought the Salted Mochi Agemochi (324 yen) and the Spicy Rice Cracker with Chili Pepper (540 yen). The Salted Mochi Agemochi had a simple and delicious flavor with just the right amount of saltiness. The Spicy Rice Cracker with Chili Pepper was very spicy with a strong kick of chili pepper and sansho pepper. It's recommended for those who enjoy spicy food.

Today's implant surgery was an All-on-4 for the lower jaw. After the surgery, when I returned home, my wife said, "I'm going to learn flower arranging now, so just have a casual lunch," and disappeared from my sight. Ugh, I'm feeling down. But going out to eat is cold and troublesome! Despite having a food blog, I'm not a fan of dining out. Especially eating alone is something I really struggle with. Whenever I go out, I always go with my wife, mainly because if she's not there, I have to talk to other people, and when dining alone, I often end up seated at a counter next to sweaty overweight people or noisy older ladies. The worst part is that just having a beautiful person nearby makes me feel incredibly self-conscious. So, unable to muster the energy to eat out, I rummaged through the kitchen looking for something to eat and found some rice crackers a senior gave me when I visited Tokyo. I don't usually finish snacks, so eating rice crackers is a rare occurrence for me. However, with nothing else to eat, I decided to give them a try, and they were surprisingly delicious! They had a spicy flavor to them, and when I looked at the ingredients on the back of the bag, it listed butter and basil. Not your typical rice cracker ingredients, but they tasted amazing. I couldn't stop eating them and finished the whole bag in no time. Thank you, senior, for the treat!

Thank you for the treats♪ These senbei were baked in Nezu for 90 years by a long-established senbei shop. The paper bag had writing and illustrations of the late Rakugo master Tachikawa Danshi. The traditional senbei were very stylish, and the peppercino-flavored senbei had a spicy kick, perfect for adults. They were quite salty, making them a great accompaniment to alcohol. The thin, crispy texture with a nice charred flavor was delicious. Another senbei had a basil flavor, which was a surprise. It's amazing that they make Italian-style senbei. It goes well with wine! There was another thick, fluffy senbei that tasted similar to basil, but I wonder what flavor it was. Please let me know next time! (The answer is seaweed!!) Thank you for the unique treats. It was delicious♪

In Nezu, there is a shop that has been making hand-baked senbei for 90 years, located next to the famous taiyaki shop in the area. I decided to buy senbei from this shop as a souvenir for an offline meeting and for the safety charm of my home. The shop offers unique senbei flavors such as Peperoncino, Basil, and Aonori. It's interesting how they incorporate Italian elements into traditional Japanese senbei. The Basil senbei has a delicious aroma and a savory taste, similar to adding basil to chicken consomme. The Peperoncino senbei has a strong garlic scent and a slightly spicy flavor, perfect as a snack with beer. The Aonori senbei has a subtle seaweed flavor and a crispy texture, making it a great match with green tea. For home consumption, I bought the "Tokyo Nureyaki Senbei," which has a rich soy sauce flavor and a slightly crunchy texture. It goes well with beer or sake, and can even be used as a topping for salads. The shop's paper bag features a comment and illustration from the late Rakugo master, Tachikawa Danshi, who used to live in the apartment above the shop. It seems that he had a special connection with this shop, just like his creative storytelling style resonates with the innovative senbei flavors.

I received these unique rice crackers as a souvenir from a fun meetup. They come in three flavors: seaweed, basil, and peperoncino. They are from a traditional rice cracker shop in the old downtown area, boasting of being made in Yanaka. Seaweed is pretty common, but basil and peperoncino? Rice crackers are becoming international these days, huh. When I tried them, they weren't actually better with wine than tea, that's a lie. Both basil and peperoncino are not too strong in flavor, so they are fine with green tea. (^O^)

I visited the website of a senbei shop in Nezu that I received as a souvenir, but it only had contact information, which was quite straightforward. I tried about four different types of senbei, which seemed to be a traditional Nezu senbei. It wasn't my favorite type of senbei, but it was a decent snack. The packaging of the senbei mentioned that the shop was established over ninety years ago. They probably sell other traditional Japanese sweets as well, so I would like to try them if I have the chance. Thank you for the treat.

I was disappointed when the taiyaki shop in Nekozane was closed, but then I discovered a senbei (rice cracker) shop! They had various flavors like azalea senbei. I purchased the Nekozane senbei, which allows you to enjoy different flavors. As a fan of senbei, I felt like this senbei was the taste I had been looking for. The crispy yet soft texture, the deliciousness of the rice, and the natural seasoning make it so enjoyable that you can eat as much as you want. While soy sauce-flavored senbei with a strong taste is delicious, this gentle-flavored senbei with a nice texture is also addictive.

"Yaegaki Senbei" is a long-established senbei (rice cracker) shop in Nezu that has been in business for over 90 years, spanning three generations. Apart from traditional senbei, they also offer innovative flavors such as "Azalea Senbei" inspired by Nezu Shrine's azaleas, "Sesame Senbei with Matcha Powder," "Sweet and Spicy Negi Miso," and "Basil Senbei." They even have assorted senbei sets for beginners to try out. The shop is famously associated with the late rakugo master, Tachikawa Danshi, who lived in the same building as the shop. His calligraphy adorns the shop's signboard, and his autographs are displayed inside. Senbei favored by Danshi are labeled with a "Danshi recommendation" seal. Danshi passed away in November 2011, but his presence is still felt in the shop. The reviewer recalls seeing Danshi at the annual Nezu-Sendagi Shitamachi Festival, where rakugo performances by Danshi's disciples are held. The last time the reviewer saw Danshi was at the festival in 2010, where Danshi entertained the audience with his usual wit despite being on medical leave. The reviewer concludes by expressing how eating senbei from "Yaegaki Senbei" will always remind them of Danshi. The shop was also featured on the TV show "Shutsu Metsu! Adomachi Tengoku" in September 2011.

I watched a TV show featuring the Nezu area, and my husband bought some snacks from there. So, I will only be evaluating the taste. - Sesame Senbei with Matcha Coating (6 pieces): The black sesame seeds are mixed inside the senbei, and the outer coating is made of black sugar, matcha, and egg white. It's not too sweet or salty, with the strongest flavor being the bitterness of matcha that lingers in the aftertaste. It might be too bitter for kids, but it's a sophisticated snack for adults. - Downtown Delight Pepperoncino Senbei (6 pieces): These senbei are thin but not too thin, with a perfect crispy texture. They are flavored with butter oil, garlic, parsley, and chicken consommé to mimic the taste of pepperoncino. The red bits on the surface are garlic, and they are very spicy! Kids might find it too hot. It feels like eating pizza, even though it's senbei. Recommended for spicy food lovers. - Downtown Delight Basil Senbei (6 pieces): Made with the same senbei base as the Pepperoncino flavor, these senbei are generously topped with basil. Another stylish and Western-flavored snack.

After eating the nearby "Nezu taiyaki," head to this place! Look at the grill on the front right side while clearing your mind. Why? Well, it's obvious, isn't it, dad? If you get too excited and go into the shop, you'll end up buying too much! This place was often used by my aunt when she was young as a convenient souvenir, and she is always delighted when I bring it to her. And most importantly, the rice crackers here are delicious to the eyes. The cute Arare-style ones are packed with the taste of the ingredients. You'll be amazed by flavors like shiitake mushrooms. These rice crackers are not just for souvenirs, but also a convenient snack to enjoy while taking a walk. Don't forget the combo of "Nezu taiyaki → Yae-gaki" when heading to Yanaka, Nezu, or Sendagi!

A rice cracker shop near the entrance intersection of Negishi Shrine. This long-established shop has inherited the prestigious place name of Yaegaki and has a history of over 90 years in Negishi. It is famous for being a favorite of the late Rakugo master Tatekawa Danshi. They offer a wide variety of products, including many New Wave-style items. However, the traditional Edo-style senbei is a must-try! "Edo's Hard Bake," "Negishi Bake - Twin Eyes," and "Nama Mochi Age - Salt" are recommended. Especially the "Edo's Hard Bake" is delicious with high-quality rice, traditional sauce, and careful craftsmanship. The paper bag with Danshi's handwritten message is also lovely.
