I had dinner at the Nepalese restaurant GURAS along the Odakebashi Street in Mikawashima. Inside the restaurant, I didn't hear much Japanese being spoken. Both the customers and the staff seemed to be Nepalese. I wanted to order the Special Set Dido, but they didn't have it, so I got the Special Set instead. It came with Chicken Masala, Dal Curry, Papad, Chicken Tikka, and salad. The spiciness was just right for me, but if you like it really spicy, you might want to mention it when ordering. When they brought out the extra Naan, it was rice at first, but I asked for Naan instead. They brought out a half-size portion, and it was freshly baked and piping hot. They have a variety of momos, so I'd like to come back next time for drinks.

I had the Chicken Curry very very very very HOT. It wasn't that spicy. The salad dressing is made with Indian carrot dressing and it's very delicious. The curry doesn't have any special features, but the chicken is tender and tasty. I prefer rice, so I didn't get the naan, but both come with the meal. It's very reasonable. I would like to go again.

The other day, just a 2-3 minute walk from "Bisouni," along the same street as "MO: MO HOUSE & BAR," I visited "GURAS" in Mikawashima. Due to the foolish "alcohol ban" in the Reiwa era, I was not allowed to drink alone quietly in the restaurant. This time, I ordered the following: Jinbu-scented dal (bean soup) and sag bhuteko (stir-fried greens) with bone-in mutton curry, cut vegetables, and bhat (rice) with a side of golbheda ko achar (spicy tomato dip) that was brought later. The Nepalese set meal "Dal Bhat" (listed as Set A for 500 yen on the table menu) included a lot of meat and cartilage around the bones, making it a bit difficult to eat. However, the "Ahil Choila" (spicy marinated duck) with Nepalese Sichuan pepper "timur," mustard oil, chili, garlic, leeks, onions, cilantro, etc., had a strong aroma. I took it as a snack to enjoy with a cold beer at home!

Last week, I visited Sanagishima. The place used to be a cafe, and the interior has a nice, solid feel to it. I started with a whiskey highball (450 yen) and Hyakura (800 yen). The lamb neck Hyakura had less meat than expected, but it was delicious with its spicy flavor. Next, I tried the Open Momo (8 pieces for 600 yen) from the 10 types of momo available. There was a similar dish in Uzbekistan cuisine that also had an open style. I finished with a Codokorokushi Midori (550 yen) to cleanse my palate. There are red and green options, with the red being 38 degrees and the green being 28 degrees. Business tip: The menu photos show the prices for potato fries, shrimp, and edamame as 500 yen, but the correct price is actually 300 yen.

Mutton curry set with extra spicy level B for 800 yen. Comes with naan, rice, salad, and a soft drink. The naan is slightly sweet and fluffy, the rice is freshly cooked Japanese rice and delicious. The curry is not too spicy for being extra spicy, but the mutton is a bit tough with a strong flavor. The curry seems to lack some spice as the curry smell doesn't linger after finishing. It's a curry with a light taste and high viscosity.

I visited the restaurant "ASIAN DINING & BAR GURAS" for the first time during lunchtime in early April, located about a 4-minute walk from JR Joban Line Mikawashima Station. The exterior of the restaurant looks like a typical Indian-Nepalese cuisine restaurant, but the interior is quite spacious with a total of 50 seats including counter seats. The ceiling painting of a blue sky inside the restaurant is quite eye-catching. I noticed a similar blue sky ceiling at another Indian-Nepalese restaurant called "Vinipreis" in Shimo-Sakaue. I wonder if there is a connection between the two restaurants? I quickly looked at the menu on the table. The lunch menu includes 5 curry set menus and 9 Thai dishes. On that day, I ordered the "Special Glass Set" (1000 yen). The set included your choice of 2 curries (Keema and daily special), naan, rice, salad, 1 piece of Tandoori chicken, 1 piece of Seekh Kebab, and dessert. The curry set was brought to the table on a plate. I tore the naan into suitable pieces and dipped it in the curry. The naan was flat but surprisingly soft and delicious. The daily special curry that day was "pumpkin and chicken", so I had it with rice. I chose the spiciest level for the curry, but it was just the right amount of spiciness for me. The Tandoori chicken and Seekh Kebab were also generously sized and tasty. The naan and rice were refillable, so I added half a naan. The refill naan, cut into about 6 pieces, seemed pre-made and lacked the softness of the original naan. It was a satisfying curry lunch. Thank you for the meal.

A recently opened Asian restaurant in Higashi-Nippori. I visited on a whim. The interior is spacious and relaxing. They had a TV playing what seemed like Indian musical videos. I ordered the Tom Yum Ramen set for 750 yen. While waiting, they offered a complimentary lassi, which was a nice touch. It took about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. The taste was honestly average. Considering the price and service, it was good. The menu is extensive and prices are affordable, so it seems like a place you can easily visit. At the end, they gave me a colorful mint-like candy by the register. Thank you for the meal.
