I casually entered a standing yakitori bar called "Sankinme" in Machida, a narrow triangular-shaped store along the main street. A large "yakitori" noren curtain hangs down, and through the aluminum sash sliding door, you can see the backs of coats packed tightly. This place must be popular. Alright, I'll go with this tonight! I quietly open the aluminum sash. Clatter, clatter, clatter. Huh? Can I fit in? A regular customer points towards the right with a smile and says, "There's space over there." I thank him and quietly open the next sliding door to the right. I slip into the spot where the senpai just left. "I'll clean up right away," the hostess swiftly tidies up the small counter. "Welcome," a kind and dignified lady greets me. I glance around at the menu. First, beer, young chicken, white motsu, and dried urume fish. "Would you like the yakitori with sauce or salt?" "Sauce, please," I reply. I happen to sit directly in front of the grilling station. It looks like an electric grill (photo available). The hostess diligently turns the yakitori on the small grill. It seems like the hostess is the one doing the grilling. While waiting for the food to cook, I casually listen to the conversations of everyone. They seem to be familiar faces. "Mr. A, Mr. B just got home. They just missed each other," says the hostess. The warmth between the hostess and the customers is evident. This popular spot is loved by many regulars. "Here's your beer," oh, a Sapporo Black Label bottle! Is this the standard here? Nice! *chugs beer* "Thank you for waiting," she serves the well-dipped yakitori and white motsu on a small plate with a gentle smile. Now, time to eat. Mmm, pretty good. Let's order a hot water split. Oh, the hostess pours quite a bit. About 2/3 of the cup is shochu. Dangerous, haha. "Here you go," oh, it's quite strong, isn't it? The second order is chicken skin and simmered daikon. The skin looks delicious as the person next to me grills it, so I couldn't help but order it. Oh, jackpot! The skin is delicious. The simmered daikon is flavorful and moist. The prices are around 120 yen for grilled items, a bit higher for beer at 570 yen. Warm sake at 370 yen? Shochu at 360 yen? That's the price range. Have a drink, eat, pay around 1500 yen. Reasonable prices! Thank you for the meal! Rating: ★★★★☆ 3.5
