For more details, please visit the blog: https://tokyo-tabearuki.com/tosai-mitaka 1. What is Tosai? Tosai is a new concept restaurant by Skylark, offering all-you-can-eat dim sum. The first location opened in Machida City, Tsurugawa on February 1, 2023. Following the success of a dim sum all-you-can-eat experiment at Bamiyan last year, Skylark realized the demand for dim sum and decided to open Tosai with a more casual and affordable approach. 2. How to get to Tosai Mitaka and its business hours Located in a somewhat difficult-to-reach area without a car: Address: 3-24-11 Nozaki, Mitaka City, Tokyo 181-0014 Nearest station: JR Musashisakai Station South Exit, then take the Odakyu Bus bound for Musashikoganei and get off at Yoshino Minami Bus Stop, a 3-minute walk along the Tohachi Road. It took me about 40 minutes by bicycle from my home. Business hours: 10:00-23:00, open every day 3. Tosai Mitaka's exterior, ticket system, and interior atmosphere The exterior of Tosai Mitaka is quite impressive, with a terrace for outdoor seating. The ticket system involves receiving a number and waiting for your turn. The interior is spacious and decorated in a calm Chinese style, with condiments like chili oil, soy sauce, vinegar, and mustard provided on the tables. 4. Tosai Mitaka's menu They offer a lunch set on weekdays from 10:00-17:00, as well as dim sum all-you-can-eat and dim sum set menus. Prices for the all-you-can-eat menu range from 2,419 yen to 3,519 yen, with options for children and toddlers. The dim sum set menus include a variety of dishes at different prices. I had the all-you-can-eat dim sum A course and I was very satisfied. The chicken salt ramen, sanratan soup, xiaolongbao, shumai, lettuce stir-fried with minced meat, spicy cucumber, warm vegetables, chimaki, grilled dumplings, boiled dumplings, daikon mochi, fried chicken, ogyochi, and sesame dumplings were all delicious! ^ ^

I visited the restaurant early in the weekend and found the spacious interior to be relaxing. I ordered the dim sum set with 4 items, including soy sauce ramen with bonito flavor, homemade xiaolongbao, bang bang chicken, and deep-fried white fish with oil-drizzled sauce. The best dish among them was the white fish. The ramen was a bit too light for my taste, so I added some chili oil and black vinegar to adjust the flavor. Overall, I think this restaurant is a good choice for enjoying dim sum in a casual dining setting.

B Course is a new type of restaurant from the Skylark Group. I went there because it was located in the former Gusto location. The terrace seats on the east side of the restaurant and the basket seats have a nice atmosphere. The terrace seats have a slightly exotic feel, and it's just right for enjoying a drink as it starts to cool down a bit. I chose the B Course because they have options that a 3-year-old can eat. The selection of dishes increases as you go up in courses, but I think there are quite a few options in the A Course. The flavors overall are a bit light or subtle. Among them, I personally found the fried chicken (with powder on it), daikon mochi, grilled dumplings, chicken and ginger rice, and lu rou fan quite delicious. On weekends, there is an additional charge of +300 yen, so it ends up being around 3,000 yen. If you don't want to eat until you're full, the set meal where you can choose several dim sum dishes might be better.

The restaurant seemed crowded on weekends, but when we visited on a weekday at 5:30 pm, there were only a few customers. We opted for the most expensive all-you-can-eat course since it was our first time there. We had 90 minutes to order, and we knew we wouldn't be able to try everything on the menu. Ordering was done through a tablet, with a limit of 3 items per person at a time. We managed to order 23 items, and the fried rice and "cold beef" were particularly good. The xiaolongbao came with sliced ginger and tasted great with black vinegar. When we ordered Pu-erh tea later on, they brought a pot of hot water for our second round without us having to ask, which was a nice touch. The new summer part-time staff were friendly and provided good service. We would love to come back if it's not too busy. The option to pay with PayPay at the table was convenient.

While looking for lunch while driving, I stumbled upon a place called "Momona" that I occasionally see. It is an evolved version of a family restaurant. Everything from ordering to payment can be done electronically. I feel like I can't keep up with the trends of this era anymore. I ordered the recommended menu item, the xiaolongbao (349 yen), and the chicken and ginger rice (449 yen). The xiaolongbao arrived quickly. I wonder if they already have it prepared since it's a main menu item? The taste is delicious. You can enjoy the juicy meat inside the chewy skin. The speed of service is also good. However, the rice dish is slow... No, maybe it's not slow, but the xiaolongbao came out too quickly, and it took over 5 minutes after finishing it for the rice dish to be served. The taste is okay... Personally, I feel that despite the ginger flavor, it's a bit bland. I wish the chicken had more flavor. The appearance also seems a bit disappointing compared to the menu picture. It's a bit small in portion, but the prices are relatively cheap and there are various menu options, so it seems like a place where families can enjoy. I would like to come back again. Thank you for the meal!

Momona Mitaka Store @ Mitaka City, Tokyo @ Chinese Cuisine, Dim Sum Mitaka, Chofu, Fuchu, located along the Tohachi Road at the boundary of the three cities of Mitaka, Chofu, and Fuchu, near the International Christian University, the former Gusto suddenly transformed into a dim sum restaurant. It opened on April 20, 2023. It is a new business model of Skylark, a dim sum restaurant. The restaurant stands out with a flashy sign that is very eye-catching. There is a cozy terrace seat next to the entrance. Dim sum all-you-can-eat is the selling point, with flexible options for set meals or individual orders. For dinner, sets like Lu Rou Fan, Shoyu Tsuyu Soba, Chicken Ginger Rice, Chicken Salt Tsuyu Soba priced at 1,190-1,290 yen with items like Xiao Long Bao, Shumai, etc. Furthermore, there are options for dim sum sets (4, 5, 6 items), three types of dim sum all-you-can-eat (2,419, 2,969, 3,519 yen), and 22 a la carte dim sum items (175-549 yen), as well as various small dishes. Lunch sets are priced at 1,309, 1,419 yen for two options, so it may not be considered cheap. Orders are placed via a touch panel, and robots also assist in service. For the first visit tonight, as the all-you-can-eat option seemed unlikely to break even and the taste level was unknown, I chose the following safe set: ■5-item set 1,694 - Fried Rice, Seafood Shumai, Meat Shumai, Peking Duck, Jellyfish Cold Dish ■5-item set 1,694 - Lu Rou Fan, Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp Spring Roll, Shrimp Wonton, Fried White Fish ■Taiwanese Shaved Ice 439 First, Jellyfish and 3 Xiao Long Bao were served. The jellyfish portion was so small that it was almost a bite-sized portion. The Xiao Long Bao and Shumai were small but tasted decent. The fried rice was fluffy but a bit too oily. The Lu Rou Fan had a safe and tasty flavor. The Taiwanese shaved ice was fluffy and delicious. As it was shortly after opening and the staff were busy with the all-you-can-eat orders, there was chaos with staff not responding even after calling them through the touch panel. Additionally, unordered items were placed on the table, and it took multiple requests to finally receive the dessert shaved ice. There were subtle disappointments in the timing of food delivery. It should be noted that the serving robot, PuduBot, was active (considering the size of the restaurant, more should probably be introduced), and its 3D vision sensor-based obstacle avoidance function was excellent. When I stood up and accidentally moved backward towards the aisle from my seat, this robot promptly stopped to avoid a collision and said something. I couldn't make out what it said, so I'm quite curious. Overall, the food was not outstanding but decent in taste. However, the pricing is somewhat delicate in terms of cost performance, so I will be interested to see how many repeat customers they will have in the future. Gusto has closed down, and a new restaurant called "Tosai" has opened, which is part of the Skylark group. It is located slightly east of the intersection of Higashi-Hachi Street and Tenmondai Street, and it is recommended to access by car as it is far from the station. As of May 2023, there are only 3 stores in Tokyo, but more openings are planned. The restaurant offers an order buffet style where freshly steamed dim sum is brought to your table by the staff. The dishes are served in original Minoyaki tableware designed by ceramic artist SHOWKO. The main focus is on the all-you-can-eat dim sum, but there are also set menus available, and you can dine without ordering the buffet. There are two main options: - Dim Sum Set: Choose a noodle or rice dish (1 item) + dim sum items (3-5 items) set menu prices range from 1419 yen to 1969 yen for 4 to 6 items. - Dim Sum All-You-Can-Eat: Choose from 3 different all-you-can-eat courses with varying number of items and time limits, ranging from 2419 yen to 3519 yen for 29 to 49 items. Today, for my first visit, I chose the "A Course: 29 items/90 minutes (2419 yen tax included)". I went with my wife and younger child at 11:30 AM on May 29, 2023. Although the time limit is 90 minutes, the actual dining time is 80 minutes as the last order is taken 10 minutes before the end. The service took about 10 minutes to start, so we quickly placed our orders, and we ended up feeling quite full with a little time to spare. The food was more authentic than expected, especially the yakisoba, xiaolongbao, and chimaki were above expectations. The taste was satisfying, but the A Course does have fewer items as expected for the lowest price option. In terms of cost performance, it's quite high, especially considering the A Course costs 2419 yen including tax. However, it doesn't include a drink bar, and there is an additional 330 yen charge on weekends and holidays, with a 10% late-night surcharge in the evenings. Due to these reasons, I don't think I will be going back, unless they start offering lunch buffets for under 1000 yen on weekdays. If I want dim sum all-you-can-eat, I'll probably go to "Kowloon Dim Sum" as it is authentic, delicious, and affordable.

The price is not high but not cheap either. If you choose a course based on the amount you can eat and what you want to eat, you can enjoy it cost-effectively. The taste is like a typical Chinese restaurant. The shrimp is small, and the dumplings have thick skins, but it's like, "Well, it's a family restaurant." Since there are no other dim sum restaurants nearby where you can choose to your heart's content, I am satisfied.

You can enjoy authentic Chinese all-you-can-eat here. It is order-based, and they bring freshly made dishes to your table. The soup dumplings are amazing, with almost all the soup still inside when you eat them. There are not many cases where the dumplings break and become soupless. You can order various dishes like sticky rice dumplings, spring rolls, and Peking duck. The sticky rice dumplings are especially delicious.

In conclusion, you don't need to go all the way to Chinatown, this place is great! Much better than any mediocre all-you-can-eat place, the food is delicious! When you order, the dishes come out quickly and freshly made, piping hot! Everything I ordered was tasty, truly authentic flavors from the Skylark Group, amazing! The most impressive dishes were the spring rolls, high-quality like in a fancy restaurant, crispy on the outside and hot inside, with great seasoning! The mango pudding was rich and you could really taste the mango, the shrimp wontons were plump and had three whole shrimp inside, chewy and delicious! The spicy chicken had a numbing heat that slowly builds up, but the sauce was so good you'll want to keep eating it! This is by far the best Chinese food I've had at an all-you-can-eat place. The ordering process is also very user-friendly, with lots of options to choose from.

I visited this restaurant for the first time since it opened in the neighborhood. I had some expectations but was disappointed with the food. The gyoza had too little filling and the skin was too thin. The fried rice was oily and lacked flavor (not enough salt and pepper). The xiaolongbao had almost no soup inside. The sweet and sour pork was too sweet. The ginger fried rice could have been better if the rice was cooked with ginger. The chicken with scallion sauce lacked depth of flavor. The ramen, spring rolls, and sesame balls were decent. Overall, I won't be going back to this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

There seems to be only about three of these Barmian all-you-can-eat dim sum restaurants nationwide. I finally went after being interested every time I passed by. The taste is okay, but it feels like your typical Barmian all-you-can-eat style. It was lively with many families, but I think one visit is enough. It's interesting to have dim sum at a family restaurant.
