JR Kitasenju Station West Exit, about a 10-minute walk away, is a sake and food restaurant called Nihonshu Matsumoto. They have a counter with 12 seats and 16 table seats, offering around 50 types of sake at all times. They serve appetizers and sake during the day from Monday to Saturday (last order at 1:30 pm). The location is on the left after passing the sake bar of the liquor store and turning left at the corner of Kitasenju Pharmacy, about 100 meters away, after crossing the Nikko Kaido (National Route 4) from the main street in front of the station.
On weekends around 6 pm, I felt like having some sake today for some reason. When it comes to sake in Kitasenju, I think of places like Kakinuma Senju Nomiyoko, directly managed by a liquor store, or Nomi Sakeba Urutora Kitasenju, which offers a variety of sake. Let's consult with Matsumoto~ But maybe I'll be teased, so let's not. By the way, I remembered that Nihonshu Matsumoto opened in July 2022. I called and it seemed like there was a seat available, lucky me. I arrived at the restaurant while singing B'z's "Koigokoro". The glass exterior leaks warm-colored light from inside. This makes it easy to enter and looks cool. I entered the restaurant alone.
When I mentioned that I was alone, I was guided to a counter seat. Looking at the menu, drinks range from Highball for 550 yen to sake for 650 yen. A bit higher than the usual izakaya I go to~ At times like this, I think I want to be more of an adult. * Iwate Hanamaki Toriyoe Monosaku Tasting Set for 1,350 yen - Namakiri Tokubetsu Junmai Unfiltered Fresh Sake Miyamanishiki - Namakiri Tokubetsu Junmai Unfiltered Fresh Sake Gin Gin - Namakiri Junmai Unfiltered Fresh Sake Kamenoo Shikomi. Each cup is about 3 shaku, so is it enough with 3 cups for 1 go? If possible, I would like the menu to include the quantity. * Otoshi for 550 yen - Chikuwa simmered, red konjac, duck, simmered dish. In other reviews, it was served on a flat plate and looked decent, but in this case, it might be better to just label it as simmered dish (oden?) and emphasize the presentation. I think presentation is important and I didn't feel the value for the price. * Cold Vegetable Assortment for 600 yen - A long plate with paprika pickles, green vegetables, pickled red cabbage, and pickled red turnip. This had a good volume and left a good impression. * Simmered Conger Eel for 750 yen - The conger eel served on a small soy sauce dish made me wonder if they were inspired by a sushi plate. I was disappointed as at my regular spot, Enraku, they serve a whole eel. I finished my sake and meal. I paid using PayPay. I always review cheap bars, so~ It's totally useless at times like this. Life is tough, huh.
