For lunch today, I went to Tamatsukuri to support a restaurant that is still operating despite the COVID-19 pandemic. I had "Hiyashi Chuka" at a ramen shop called "Chuka Soba Gensan" on the southeast corner of the Tamatsukuri 1-chome intersection. I ordered extra noodles. This place became famous because it was often featured on TV by Kenkoba. Now, about the "Hiyashi Chuka" here, the noodles are medium thin. On top of the noodles, there were 4 slices of pork belly chashu, menma, boiled cabbage, boiled egg, tomato, and chopped seaweed. Sesame was sprinkled on top. White kimchi was served separately. The sauce is a sweet and sour soy sauce with a strong sesame oil flavor. The sauce was also served separately. The noodles in their "Hiyashi Chuka" here have a great texture. They go well with the soy sauce dressing, making it a delicious dish. Adding kimchi halfway through made it even more delicious! The Hiyashi Chuka was so delicious~~~

I had a delicious meal at this place, similar to the Chinese noodles but with their usual not-so-skilled hand-rolled sushi. The thick noodles were chewy, and the chashu was great too. I enjoyed two servings of their hand-rolled sushi. Thank you for the meal.

Chuka soba - Large serving The regular chuka soba has thick noodles, but you can change to thin noodles for an additional fee. I ordered thick noodles for myself and thin noodles for my wife. The thick noodles were a bit chewy, and the soup initially tasted good like chuka soba, but it had a slightly strong soy sauce flavor. My wife tried the thick noodles and said that the thin noodles are definitely tastier. One thing that was confusing was the pricing system: Thick noodles - Regular 750 yen, Large 950 yen Thin noodles - Regular 800 yen, Large 900 yen.

Located at the Tamatsu 1 intersection, a short walk from Tamazoe Station. I ordered the Chashu Ramen with Kagoshima black pork belly chashu in a thin noodle, and it was cooked by the mother today. The balance of lean and fatty parts in the chashu was good! Unfortunately, the soup was a bit light today. The chashu was slightly more flavorful, so I wonder if it was okay like this. Thank you for the meal.

This is my usual lunch spot, the "Chuka Soba Minamoto" in the Tamatsukuri area of my expedition area. It's a shop that offers thick, hard, and dark high-quality Chinese noodles. I have passed by this shop many times but never stopped by, as there are other popular ramen shops like Sumiyoshi, Koyo-ken, and Menya 7.5Hz in the vicinity. However, this time I decided to try something new and entered the shop. Established in 2004, the shop is located in a 7-story building at the southeast corner of the Tamatsukuri 1 intersection on Nagahori Street. The interior has a counter that surrounds the cooking area and another counter facing the window, with seating for about 10 people. The decor is simple, with plywood walls and a large dragon painted on the wall above the window. The menu includes various noodle dishes such as Chinese noodles and cold noodles, as well as side dishes like dumplings and fried chicken. I tried the Chinese noodles and cold noodles on two separate occasions. The Chinese noodles are a local specialty known as "Koiwada ramen," originating from the area near the border of Higashi-Osaka City and Higashi Sumiyoshi Ward. The soup is made from a rich soy sauce base with chicken and vegetables, and the thick straight noodles are boiled for twice as long as regular noodles. The toppings include dark-colored menma and chopped green onions. The soup has a strong soy sauce flavor, and the noodles are chewy and satisfying. I also tried the mixed rice ball, which consists of white rice mixed with char siu and sauce, topped with black sesame seeds. It was flavorful and filling. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable, and I recommend trying the unique Koiwada ramen at Chuka Soba Minamoto.

Today, I came to Minamimorimachi with my friends and went to Minamoto-san as recommended by Kenkoba. I was really looking forward to it after hearing some hilarious stories on TV. This time, I ordered the Char Siu Ramen. The gentle shoyu-flavored soup made with chicken bones is a standout feature. The chewy noodles were delicious as they mixed with the soup. The pork belly Char Siu was flavorful and tasty. It all gave me a nostalgic feeling. Thank you for the meal!

It's a delicious ramen, probably from the Takaida style. Thick noodles with soy sauce soup. However, the soup is much milder and tastier than the typical Takaida style. I went on a holiday afternoon and was able to eat without waiting. The service is also friendly. By the way, it seems that it was introduced by Ken Koba in a non-slippery story.

I visited Mr. Gen's. The yellow tent with red letters clearly stating "Chuka Soba" was a bit underwhelming, with no other customers in the empty store. I ordered Chuka Soba and Gyoza. The kitchen was run by two older sisters, which was unexpected. The thick noodles in the Chuka Soba had a rare and intense soy sauce flavor, and the chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The gyoza had a hint of garlic and were juicy with meat juices. While eating, I realized the staff were talking about Mr. G. It made me wonder if this place is actually a restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Before, an old man used to run the place alone, but now it seems to be the son and mother taking over. The menu used to be full of handwritten signs, but now it has changed to a more user-friendly pouch menu. I was intrigued by the Kagoshima black pork belly chashu, so I ordered the Chashu Ramen (regular size) with thin noodles for 950 yen. The thick noodles are similar to those of Takaida Ramen. The guy next to me was struggling with the thick noodles (laughs). After a short wait, the ramen arrived. The small-sized chashu, with little fat, covered the entire bowl along with green onions and bamboo shoots as toppings. The slightly richly seasoned chashu was delicious. With little fat, you can eat as much as you want. The noodles were not the expected low-water-content Chinese-style noodles, but rather the typical Chinese noodles found in many ramen shops. The soup was a light and clear soy sauce broth with an animal-based flavor. It was delicious. I highly recommend the chashu in particular.

Today (4/6), I visited this restaurant that I found a while ago on Instagram, located just a few minutes' walk from JR Kanjo Line Tamatsukuri Station. I sat at the counter, ordered the "Chuka Soba Regular (750 yen)" (no ticket machine), and the bowl arrived promptly. The clear soy sauce-colored soup contained thick straight noodles, a few slices of chashu, two pieces of menma, and plenty of finely chopped green onions. When I tried the soup with a spoon, it had a slightly sour and refreshing taste, more similar to Takaida style rather than OoOo Black, but it was quite delicious. The thick noodles had a smooth texture and chewy bite, also tasty, although I ate them separately from the soup. The chashu had a rich flavor and was tender and very delicious, while the green onions were crunchy and also tasty when eaten with the noodles. Overall, I finished the whole bowl and soup. I usually don't like authentic Takaida-style ramen, but this Chuka Soba here is definitely worth praising.

This is Chuka Soba Minamoto!! Lunch on a holiday!! Visited a little after 11 o'clock. Today's choice? Chuka Soba! A bowl featuring a black soup made from a clear broth of chicken bones and vegetables, mixed with a rich soy sauce base. The thick noodles typical of Takaida style are paired with a side of garlic. The soup is on the lighter side for Takaida style, with the umami of chicken bones and the spicy, sweet, and sour flavors of the rich soy sauce base. The noodles have a good bite and the soup coats them well, making it delicious. The added garlic also packs a punch and enhances the flavor. Topped with chopped green onions, crunchy menma, and fatty, tender black pork chashu, it's all very tasty. Accompanied by a combo rice ball, the chashu rice ball has a strong flavor, while the salt rice ball is served with pickles and pickled plums as sides. A delicious bowl of Takaida style ramen!

The shop is located in the area known as Takaida-kei in Osaka, where there are many Takaida black ramen shops. The soup is made by simmering domestically produced local chicken for a long time, resulting in a rich and flavorful soup that does not lose to soy sauce-based broths. While I enjoy the bold taste of Takaida-style soy sauce ramen, I appreciate that this shop's soup has a strong chicken broth flavor with the soy sauce flavor more subdued. It reminds me of my favorite Kyoto black ramen, and the quality of this bowl is comparable to or even better than ramen shops like "Ramen Jiji" or "Shinfukunai". As a lover of Kyoto black ramen, I cannot resist this soup, and I am truly impressed by its deliciousness. Now, let's talk about the noodles. They are not too thick, but quite thick in my opinion. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the noodles, but you can see them in other reviews. They are not too firm or too soft. So, what is this perfect chewiness? It's smooth, chewy, and satisfying. The noodles maintain their smooth, chewy texture until the last bite. They are incredibly delicious, especially when mixed with the soup. I'm not sure if they are homemade, but I will ask next time I visit. And of course, the chashu must be delicious too, right? I tried the thinly sliced pork belly chashu, and it was indeed delicious. It had a good bite to it, not overly tender. Let me say it again, the chashu was delicious. I visited the shop a little after 11 am, so I was the only customer. Thanks to that, I had a pleasant conversation with the kind owner about the history of the shop. This place has officially become a regular in my ramen life!

Located a 5-minute walk from Tamatsukuri Station, this ramen shop was featured in a stand-up routine by comedian Kenkoba. I ordered the regular size of Chinese soba ramen and a combo of sushi rolls. The ramen is of the highaida style, with thick and chewy noodles. The chashu is made with black pork from Kagoshima. The soup has a unique flavor that reflects the personality of the owner. I finished the meal smoothly and the total bill came out to exactly 1000 yen.

I'm not the type of person who eats ramen every day, but I've been getting tired of tonkotsu ramen lately and have been leaning towards seafood-based or soy sauce-based ramen. It seems like there are quite a few people like that. I recently discovered a restaurant near my house that serves soy sauce ramen thanks to other people's reviews, and I went there right away. It was around 1 pm on a Sunday and there were a couple of seats available, so I was able to get in without waiting. The atmosphere reminded me of a local Chinese restaurant I used to go to occasionally as a child, which I love. It was quite hot outside that day, so I hesitated a bit about ordering hot ramen, but I went for the regular soy sauce ramen as planned. I didn't change the thin noodles for thicker ones since it was my first time. I also ordered gyoza and heta-don to share with my companion. The noodles may be a matter of personal preference, but the soup was a classic soy sauce flavor that was refreshing and not tiring. The gyoza had thin skins with a lot of vegetables in the filling, making it easy to eat. The heta-don had a slightly sweet sauce, which I thought might be the owner's favorite flavor. Overall, it was delicious. I would like to eat there again. That's how it tasted.

I went for lunch and had the regular size of Chinese soba. It was a ramen with a soup that seemed spicy with soy sauce. However, when I took a sip of the soup, I was surprised by the mild spiciness. The flavor was simple and gentle. The noodles were thick and round, giving a satisfying texture. Even though this type of noodles is not my favorite, it went well with the soup and tasted delicious. The char siu was traditional with visible fat, but it was surprisingly tender. It's the type of char siu that goes well with noodle soup. The menma (seasoned bamboo shoots) were also good, adding a nice touch to the soup. Overall, it was a delicious bowl of ramen that I would want to come back for. I couldn't finish the soup completely, but I enjoyed drinking it.

I visited a shop where I can enjoy my favorite style of ramen, the Takaida-style ramen♪ I ordered a bowl of Chinese ramen and two Hetanigiri (pressed sushi). The noodles are quite thick, so it may take some time. First, I had the Hetanigiri, which is pressed sushi with plenty of chashu (roasted pork) inside and seasoned with soy sauce. I've always liked this one♪ Then, the Chinese ramen arrived. It's based on a soy sauce broth with a slightly dark color. The soy sauce flavor is somewhat mild and easy to eat. Topped with chashu, green onions, and bamboo shoots, it comes with thick and chewy noodles. Let's enjoy it with a good bite♪ Mmm, it's satisfying... (laughs) Thank you for the meal♪ (*´ω`*)

I visited before noon on a regular day. I sat at the counter and ordered the Char siu ramen (900 yen). It arrived shortly after. The soup was dark in color and simple with Char siu, menma, and green onions covering the surface. I took a sip of the soup, which had a rich and robust flavor, simple yet delicious! The noodles were thick straight noodles, chewy and paired well with the soup. The Char siu was also delicious with a good amount of fat. I finished it all in no time. Next time, I will order the large size. Thank you for the meal.

137th Kamimura Noodle Road @ Gen-san 06-6973-9222 1-1-36 Tamatsu, Higashinari-ku, Osaka, Osaka Chashu Ramen Regular 900 yen Extra Menma 100 yen Extra Nori 350 yen Ordered Chashu Ramen. The noodles were thick but easy to eat. The soup was not too strong for a high-Ida style soy sauce. The toppings were decent. The Chashu Ramen had plenty of chashu, but didn't feel like there was much extra menma. In terms of cost performance, I wished there were more toppings. The service was warm and the onigiri was surprisingly delicious. Overall rating: B+

This shop is a ramen restaurant located in Tamatsukuri. I ordered the "Chuka Soba (700 yen)". The soup is a clear, dark brown, lightly flavored soy sauce base, with a simple taste and a slight acidity. The oil content is low and the saltiness is mild. The noodles are thick, straight noodles with a strong texture. It tasted quite delicious, similar to the style of Takaida ramen but with less salt.

You can enjoy Takaida-style ramen at Chukasoba Minamoto, located right on the corner. It's a 10:40 visit from Tamatsukuri Station. The self-serve water is available, and the interior has an L-shaped counter with counter seating along the walls. The menu includes Takaida-style ramen, Chukasoba, Char Siu noodles, and they also offer cold noodles. This time, I had the regular Chukasoba, with garlic as an additional topping. The soup is a light chicken and vegetable broth with a rich soy sauce flavor typical of Takaida-style ramen, and the noodles are thick. The simplicity of the toppings - green onions, bamboo shoots, and Char Siu - along with the added garlic, gives it a delicious punch. It's a nostalgic and delicious bowl of Takaida-style ramen that has been enjoyed since the Showa era!

I visited "Minamoto" after walking east on Nagahori Street for about 5 minutes from JR Tamatsukuri Station. There is hand sanitizer at the entrance. It was past 1 pm, but the restaurant was almost full... it seemed like they had reduced the number of seats compared to before, and there was only one seat available. The water is self-service and can be found on the right side (under the TV) and in the back of the restaurant. I ordered the "Chuka Soba (regular)" over the counter. The Chuka Soba came with toppings of chashu, menma, and negi, with thick straight noodles that were chewy, in a soy sauce-based chicken broth that was slightly oily but had a clear and gentle flavor. It had a simple soy sauce flavor with a gentle roundness and was delicious. This time I ordered the regular size, but since I was quite hungry, I think I could have easily finished the large size as well. The pork belly chashu was firm in texture and had a satisfying bite. The basic menu consists of "Chuka Soba" and two other options, Chashu Men and Hiyashi Chuka (limited time only), as well as side dishes and rice dishes. The only condiment available on the table is black pepper. The warm and welcoming counter with 8 seats (without partitions) is managed by two elderly women. On the top left of the front sign, it was written in small letters, "That store that induced explosive laughter with slip-free stories."
