I made a reservation and ordered the special dinner course, which included appetizers, soup, two types of seafood, salad, steak, garlic rice, dessert, and coffee or tea. The seafood dishes were delicious with sauces that complemented them well. The red snapper today had a crispy skin and the seasoning was just right, enhancing the ingredients. The two types of seafood included clams, which were cooked with great ingredients. The meat, made with Maesawa beef, had the perfect amount of fat and was cooked to my liking (medium). The wine, food, and conversation with the chef added a nice touch to the experience. I had a leisurely and enjoyable time.

Reservation made and arrived at the restaurant. It was about a 15-minute taxi ride from Hachioji Station, the nearest station. There are 6 counter seats and a table for 4 people (there may have been others in the back, so it's best to confirm). Ordered a draft beer. Opted for the special dinner course, which included appetizers, soup, two types of seafood, salad, steak, garlic rice, dessert, and coffee. The appetizer was white fish carpaccio, soup was corn potage, and the seafood included scallops and red snapper. The scallops were firm, and the red snapper had a crispy skin, both delicious and complemented well by the sauce. The salad was fresh and crunchy. The steak, made with sirloin, had just the right amount of fat and was tender and delicious. The garlic rice was a satisfying end to the meal, and the chef's conversation during its preparation made the dining experience enjoyable. With delicious food and drinks, the night passed by.

A friend invited me to a delicious teppanyaki restaurant, so I went there by car! The shop had a cute appearance and a cozy atmosphere. I felt a bit nervous around the quiet-looking owner and was seated at the counter's furthest seat. We had reserved the most expensive course, and I started with a beer. The lovely appetizers went well with the beer, and then I ordered a bottle of white wine (Chardonnay). The peach soup that came next was exquisite, with a refreshing sweetness and creamy taste. Then we enjoyed teppanyaki dishes like eggplant, spinach, and eringi, along with the owner's homemade bread, which was also delicious. Next was the abalone, steamed and baked with capers, tarragon, dill, and a red wine-based sauce. The tender and thick abalone meat was incredibly tasty, and the abalone liver was also amazing. We also had a crab salad with a delicious dressing, followed by the impressive Matsuzawa beef. The beef was placed on top of bread, allowing the meat juices to soak in, making it even more delicious. We also enjoyed the shaved fatty meat sautéed with bean sprouts, which brought out the umami flavor. The dessert fruit was also delicious. The owner's talk was enjoyable, the food was delicious, and by the time we left, I was a bit tipsy from the wine. I would love to go back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal!

Originally, there was Steak Higashiyama at this location. I visited once for lunch during the Higashiyama era, but this is my first visit since it became Steak Wa. The interior of the restaurant hasn't changed much. From talking to the chef, it seems like he was already working at this restaurant when I came before, but the name has just changed, so it feels like the same place. Well, the chef was very friendly and chatting with him was quite enjoyable. Teppanyaki is all about the interaction with the chef, so that may be the highlight. This time, I had the 7500 yen course. The marinated seafood platter was beautifully presented. The dressing had a Pietro-like flavor and was quite delicious. The chestnut potage soup was refreshing and tasty. The crispy skin of the sea bream meunière was delightful. The steak was flavorful without being too fatty. The bread underneath soaked up the juices and was delicious. They made a dish with the leftover fatty bits and bean sprouts, which was a nice palate cleanser and surprisingly tasty. The garlic rice for the finale had just the right amount of garlic flavor and a Japanese-style seasoning, making it easy to eat. It was quite good. The wine, available only by the glass, was decent for both red and white. For dessert, I moved to a different table. The beautifully sliced fruit was both visually appealing and delicious. For a reasonable price, you can enjoy authentic teppanyaki steak at this restaurant. It's a nice option for a small celebration.

Lunch This restaurant is a small teppanyaki steakhouse located about a 25-minute walk from JR Hachiko Line's Komae Station on the west side, just east of the Ryukoji Higashi intersection along the side road of Route 16 Hachioji Bypass. It has been in operation for 7 years now, but it used to be a different steakhouse before that... Nearby, there are places like Hachioji Utsugi Post Office, Utsugi Inter Village Gas Hachioji Utsugi Store, and Thanks Hachioji Bypass Store. We arrived at the restaurant around 12:20 in a car in the midst of a light cold rain, and there were only two guests, a couple, inside. We sat at the counter seats at the back of the restaurant, and ordered two lunch steak sets for 2,100 yen each, along with Perrier. The lunch steak set includes teppanyaki steak, salad, seafood teppanyaki, rice, miso soup, pickles, dessert, and coffee. The first to come out was the vegetable salad, which had a soy sauce-based dressing with a nice tang that my wife really liked. Next was the seafood teppanyaki course with scallops, expertly cooked in front of us with soy butter and black pepper sauce, enhancing the deliciousness. The main steak was an 80g Australian beef teppanyaki cooked to medium-well. The cooking process was quick, leaving us no time for conversation as we were completely focused on the steak. The steak, served on a hot plate with fried garlic and sauce, was delicious and had a good amount for a lunch portion. The bread served with the steak was also very tasty. What pleased us the most was the freshly cooked rice - there's nothing better than hot, freshly cooked rice. The miso soup was also impressive, with two large clams and mitsuba leaves that complemented the broth and miso very well. This restaurant offers three lunch courses, and the one we had was the middle option, which was more than enough for a satisfying lunch.

I have been coming to this restaurant since it first opened as Higashiyama, and even before I got married. It's been over 17 years now. When it was just the two of us, it was fine, but as our child grew up and started eating adult meals, the prices naturally went up, making me tear up a bit. However, the chef, who trained at a famous restaurant in Hachioji, is excellent in his cooking, especially with the premium beef sourced from Maesawa. It's much tastier than the beef at the famous Hachioji restaurant. I have visited the famous Hachioji restaurant multiple times, but I don't rate it highly because it's not on par with Japan's top restaurants, the seating is too close together, the prices are overly expensive (over ¥20,000 for a meal for two, and over ¥60,000 with drinks), and the staff, including the waiters, act too snobbish because of their fame. That's why I recommend this restaurant. It may not have the fancy decor or extensive menu like the famous restaurant, but it has a cozy atmosphere, you can feel the chef's dedication in the dishes, and you can enjoy conversations with the chef. It's a satisfying place for me, and I will continue to visit frequently!!!

Steak Wa in Utsugi, Hachioji. The location may be a bit hard to find at first, but once you go there, you'll figure it out. When I first visited, the chef seemed quiet and a bit intimidating, but the food was delicious and the cost performance was great, so I decided to revisit after a year. I called to make a reservation the day before, and they said they had one booking at 6 PM, so 7 PM would be fine. It makes sense now. They work meticulously with each group. They pay attention to our needs and the speed of serving the food is very delicate. The chef, who initially seemed quiet, turned out to be very talkative and fun. The teppanyaki fish and meat cooked right in front of you are delicious, and their homemade bread, white rice, miso soup, and pickles are also tasty! The miso soup uses the highest quality dashi. How luxurious... The chef even makes the pickles himself. This is a place I would definitely want to visit for a special treat.

The set meal included salad, fish, steak, rice, miso soup, sherbet, and coffee. The salad was normal, the fish was grilled on a hot plate and served with delicious sauce. The steak was cooked with garlic butter and served with steak sauce and wasabi soy sauce. The sherbet was refreshing and the coffee was served in a cute cup. I will definitely visit again.

This is a great restaurant. It may not have the luxury feel of a certain famous restaurant in Hachioji, but the food is just as good. The dishes here are not overly elaborate, but they are affordable and generous in portion size. The owner/chef and 1-2 staff members run the small restaurant with 7 counter seats and 3 table seats. Customers usually move to the table seats for coffee and dessert after finishing their meal. The place is clean and cozy, making it a nice place to relax. If you want to impress on a date, I recommend the famous restaurant in Hachioji. The chef used to work at that famous restaurant and now runs his own place. He skillfully cooks on the teppan and serves delicious seafood and meat. The quality of the meat may vary depending on the day, but when he says "today's meat is good," it truly is delicious. If he remembers your preferences, he might even customize your order. The chef may seem quiet at first, but he is actually quite talkative. If you prefer a quiet meal, it's best not to engage in too much conversation. I enjoy both the food and the conversations with the chef. I'm looking forward to my next visit when I will leave the dishes up to him and see what surprises he has in store.
