Lunch on August 24, 2023 (Thursday). I took the Keiyo Line for work in the afternoon, so I had lunch at Tokyo Station again. I decided to try this restaurant in the Nippon Gourmet Street on the basement 1st floor of Tokyo Station's First Avenue. I couldn't find much information about the restaurant, but when I searched online, a company called Date Co., Ltd. came up. It seems that this company operates a teppanyaki restaurant called Date at Tokyo Gourmet Zone on the 2nd floor (opened on June 2, 2018) and a yakitori restaurant called Ikkaku on the B1 floor (opened on December 11, 2014) in Tokyo Station. It's a bit confusing with Date's beef tongue. I ordered the Beef Tongue Steak Set Meal <Salt> with 6 slices (2500 yen, tax included 2750 yen) that was labeled as a "classic." I was surprised by the price, but when the beef tongue arrived, I found that the thicker slices were average, while the thinner slices were okay. The key to good beef tongue is the feeling of the meat easily entering your mouth and the flavor intensifying as you chew. Overall, I thought it was an average beef tongue restaurant. Compared to delicious beef tongue restaurants in Sendai, it was a bit lacking.

At Tokyo Station, I always have the usual beef tongue grilled set meal here. The beef tongue, seasoned just right, is delicious with plenty of wasabi and spicy miso paste. It was lunchtime, but it wasn't too crowded so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. Thank you for the meal! :)

Thick-cut grilled beef tongue set meal (salt flavor) with 10 slices for 4840 yen, simmered beef tongue tendons for 880 yen. Visited on a weekday around 7:30 PM. The restaurant has a counter with 6 seats and 14 tables for 2 people each. About 90% of the seats were occupied by other customers. The menu includes premium thick-cut grilled beef tongue set meal, thick-cut mixed grilled beef tongue set meal, thick-cut grilled beef tongue set meal, thick-cut grilled beef tongue and beef tongue sausage set meal, beef tongue stew, beef tongue curry, and more. Ordered the thick-cut grilled beef tongue set meal (salt flavor) with 10 slices, simmered beef tongue tendons, and grated yam. All dishes were served in about 6 minutes. The thick-cut grilled beef tongue set meal comes with pickles, barley rice, tail soup, and spaghetti salad. The beef tongue was slightly chewy with a good bounce, flavorful and juicy with a nice saltiness. Adding yuzu pepper provided a spicy kick. The grated yam was not too sticky, more on the creamy side, and well-seasoned. Eating the beef tongue and yam rice together was truly delicious. The simmered beef tongue tendons were well-cooked with beef tongue, daikon radish, and carrots, topped generously with green onions. The beef tongue was tender and flavorful.

On Friday at 18:30, I got off at Tokyo Station on the Sobu Yokosuka Line and headed to the ramen street in the Yaesu underground mall. Despite the crowded flow of people, there was a long line at "Rokurinsha" ramen shop. However, I noticed a less crowded shop nearby, "Sendai Gyutan Mori." The prices were high, but the lack of customers made it easier to get a seat. I ordered a draft beer, grated yam, and the premium beef tongue dish with 6 slices. The beef tongue was thick, tender, and flavorful, perfect for relieving the day's fatigue. It was a great experience.

A specialty shop for Sendai beef tongue located in the Nippon gourmet street at Tokyo Station's First Avenue. I ordered the beef tongue set meal with 8 thick slices of beef tongue. It was tender, juicy, and incredibly delicious. You can enjoy it with wasabi and spicy miso for flavor variation, both of which pair well with beef tongue. The price is a bit high at 3850 yen, so the cost performance is not great, but considering that you can enjoy this right after getting off the Shinkansen, it might be worth it.

Located in Tokyo Station Ichibangai, this specialty shop offers Sendai beef tongue. I ordered the most popular dish, the thick-cut beef tongue charcoal-grilled set with 8 pieces for 3850 yen. The texture and flavor were excellent. However, I found the price to be too high and the interior of the restaurant to feel a bit cheap, so I gave this evaluation.

Today, I planned to go on a food tour at "Nippon Gourmet Street" in Tokyo Station to go around Japan in one day! This was my first visit here and I tried the following:
- Draft beer
- Thick-cut beef tongue (10 pieces)
- Spicy beef tongue
- Green salad (half)
The set of beer and beef tongue is a classic choice and a must-have for starting the journey around Japan. The beef tongue was thick, juicy, and incredibly delicious. I usually like thinly sliced beef tongue with plenty of green onions, but the unique texture and umami flavor of thick-cut beef tongue are hard to resist. With plenty of wasabi and green chili, the beef tongue, which surprisingly has a lot of fat, can handle a generous amount of toppings without becoming too spicy. The spicy beef tongue is made by simmering a tendon-like part in a chili oil-like sauce and mixing it with a large amount of green onions, creating the perfect appetizer. Even without toppings, the beer goes down smoothly, but adding them on top of the beef tongue only enhances the deliciousness! Thank you for the super luxurious moment! Thank you for the meal!

The taste was delicious, but the cost was a bit high. Just a reminder to not make a wrong judgment based on reviews, I try to comment honestly based on my own feelings. Some expressions may be a bit extreme, but please forgive me. Generally, I tend to praise more. Thank you in advance.

At Tokyo Station, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy beef tongue similar to the one in Sendai, with a set including spicy miso and oxtail soup. The set meal comes with a choice of 6 or 8 slices of beef tongue. There is also a higher grade of meat available, but it was too expensive so I ordered this one. The meat itself is tender and delicious. It's enjoyable to top it with either spicy miso or wasabi. I personally like the chewy barley rice.

Tonight, I decided to have dinner at Tokyo Station and was torn between ramen, seafood, and beef tongue. I succumbed to the temptation of beef tongue and visited this place. I saw reviews mentioning high-quality beef tongue, so I entered out of curiosity. I was seated and looked at the menu, which indeed had higher prices compared to other beef tongue restaurants. I decided to order the Premium Beef Tongue Thick Cut Set with 6 pieces for confirmation. It was served in about 6-7 minutes. The tail soup was delicious, and the beef tongue was indeed thick and tender, with great flavor. However, it was definitely on the expensive side. Thank you for the meal.

I thought it was a typical beef tongue set meal restaurant and casually walked in, but the prices were a bit higher than other places, with menu items featuring rare cuts like tongue base. For my first visit, I ordered a reasonably priced set meal that came with soup, meat miso, pickles, and rice, with wasabi and mustard on the side. The long-awaited beef tongue was tender without any unpleasant odor, juicy, bouncy, perfectly cooked, and satisfying in every way! I've been to several beef tongue restaurants before, but this may be the first time I've been so impressed. The black pepper sausage was juicy with a satisfying crunch, and paired well with the mustard that wasn't too spicy. I was very satisfied with the meal. Next time, I'll try the tongue base.

Today, I went to the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum with my wife to see the "Ueno Ritsuchiten" exhibition. Before that, we had lunch at Yaechika. Over 15 years ago, when my office was located near Yaezumae before moving to Kanda, we used to have lunch around here. However, things have changed a lot since then. During lunchtime on a Saturday, Ramen Street still had long lines, so we decided to splurge and go for beef tongue instead. Despite the bustling atmosphere around us, this place was surprisingly empty. But the regular beef tongue set meal was surprisingly over 2,700 yen. And grated yam was an additional charge. Quite a steep price, especially for commoners. The meal that arrived was quite underwhelming. And all the dishes were lukewarm. The oxtail soup was also quite meager. However, considering the price, the taste was actually quite good. At least it was better than Negishi. But overall, this was a pretty disappointing lunch. I wish they had served a bit more to make it worth the high price.

The beef tongue is delicious, but it's too expensive. The price doesn't match the quality. If they want to keep this setting, they should increase the price significantly and offer more meat. I was looking forward to the beef tongue, but I was disappointed. The service was good, but overall it was a letdown.

I visited for lunch with the intention of having beef tongue. It is located in an area where local shops line the Yaesu underground mall. I ordered the beef tongue set meal with 6 slices. The meat is thick and satisfying to eat. It tastes even better with wasabi. The oxtail soup has an elegant flavor. It's a bit disappointing that it costs 2,000 yen due to being in a tourist area like Tokyo Station, but it's understandable.

This is a beef tongue restaurant located near the ramen street on the basement floor of Tokyo Station. In the past, I used to think that the only place to eat delicious beef tongue in Tokyo was at "Tanyaki Shinobi" in Yotsuya. Recently, more and more shops have been expanding from Sendai, and I am delighted. The photo shows a deluxe thick-cut beef tongue and beef tongue stew set meal. I also ordered boiled tongue separately. The deluxe beef tongue lives up to its name, as it is thick but easy to chew, with a firm elasticity afterwards. The stew has a strong Japanese-style broth. The service from ordering to serving was very smooth. The clean interior and efficient service make it a great place to enjoy beef tongue at Tokyo Station. Highly recommended!

After coming out of Tokyo Station Yaesu North Exit, there is a shop called "Mori" just before Ramen Street. There are many beef tongue restaurants around Tokyo Station, but I have never tried this one before. The premium thick-cut beef tongue set (6 slices for 2950 yen without tax) was delicious. I also had a boiled beef tongue (1000 yen without tax) which was a bit salty but tasty. However, the charcoal-grilled beef tongue lacked the smoky flavor and crispiness that I expected. Maybe they finish cooking it quickly to keep it tender, but it's a bit of a challenge to get the perfect balance. Overall, the taste, atmosphere, and service were good, but I felt a bit of a mismatch between the value and the pricing. Nonetheless, the restaurant seemed to be doing well as there were quite a few customers.

The thick-cut beef tongue set meal costs 2000 yen. It may seem a bit expensive compared to Negishi, but I was drawn to the location of Tokyo Station and the promise of thick cuts. I actually prefer thinly sliced beef tongue, but the menu was a bit confusing as the price varied based on the amount of beef tongue. The most cost-effective option was 2000 yen, but it didn't come with salad so it felt a bit lacking. The taste of the beef tongue was decent and the portion size was reasonable, but without grated yam or salad, I still felt a bit unsatisfied.

Located right by the Yaesu underground ticket gate at Tokyo Station, this restaurant specializes in beef tongue dishes. I visited around 7 pm on a weekday and was able to enter without much of a wait. I ordered the thick-cut beef tongue set meal for 1.5 people, which means you get a larger portion of beef tongue. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes. The thickness of the beef tongue slices was impressive, providing a satisfying chew. The plate also came with pickles and a mildly spicy miso sauce. The miso sauce here is not too spicy, making it easy to enjoy. Eating the beef tongue with the sauce really enhances the flavor. The total cost was just under 3000 yen, which felt a bit on the expensive side. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

Before returning to Kansai, I decided to grab a bite to eat in the underground area of Tokyo Station. Even though I didn't need a lot, I found myself drawn to the beef tongue restaurant and decided to dine there. The staff recommended a menu item when I mentioned that I wanted a small portion, and I ordered it. It was delicious, and I wished I could eat more (but I was on a diet so I reduced the amount, haha). A bit disappointing was that even though there was still time before closing, they asked me to settle the bill before I finished eating. Due to my personality, I didn't do anything wrong, and it made me feel rushed to finish quickly and leave. I understand wanting to close up early, but if I had to say something, I wish they had waited to bring the bill until after I finished eating.

On New Year's Day 2021, I visited the traditional Fujiyama Hatsumode in Kamakura Inamuragasaki. After admiring the snow-covered Mount Fuji, I returned to Tokyo Station. I had planned to eat dumplings in the underground area of Tokyo Station, but the store was closed, possibly due to the influence of the coronavirus. I decided to try a restaurant that serves Sendai beef tongue charcoal-grilled because it's the Year of the Ox. I ordered the beef tongue curry set for 1,210 yen including tax. The set came with salad, oxtail soup, and beef tongue curry. The beef tongue was tender and flavorful, and the curry had a moderate level of spiciness. The barley rice paired perfectly with the curry. The oxtail soup was light and subtle in flavor. Despite the delicious food, the atmosphere in the restaurant was lacking. It had a simple and urban vibe, but the staff's service was a bit cold. I wished for a bit more warmth in the overall experience.
