It was quiet inside, probably because it was a Sunday or due to the pandemic. I decided to go in and found that they only had bottled Asahi beer, with Ebisu on draft. They had a variety of shochu and sake. The owner was working alone and it was a bit dim and quiet inside, making it hard to talk. They didn't have much in terms of snacks, which was disappointing. The horse sashimi was delicious, especially with the thick and sweet soy sauce from Kyushu. The underground location made the cell phone reception very poor.

We made a reservation for 4 people at 18:30 on a weekday. The restaurant is located in a building just a short walk from Sendagi Station, down a steep staircase resembling a gun barrel on the basement floor. The interior of the building seemed a bit complex, and we were led to a sunken kotatsu seating area on what seemed like a middle floor. There was another staircase leading to another dining area further inside the building. We opted for a course that included horse sashimi, hot pot, and 2-hour all-you-can-drink for 4,500 yen. We started with a toast with Ebisu beer. The appetizers included shark cartilage salted dish, satsuma-age, and herring roe, all of which paired well with alcohol. We switched to sake after finishing our beer, with the option to choose sake up to 900 yen per 180ml. We enjoyed dishes like salad, oboro tofu (2 types), horse sashimi, and kiritanpo hot pot. The horse sashimi was particularly delicious with sweet soy sauce and ginger. We also tried sake varieties like Dassai and Yuki no Bosha. The quality of the food and the lineup of sake for 4,500 yen was unbelievable. It was a great dining experience!

After visiting two restaurants in the Shirayama area, I tried to visit "Min no Yuki" in Nezu, so I walked all the way to Honjo Street and turned left onto Iidemachi Street, but to my surprise, the restaurant was closed! I quickly turned back and considered going to "Kei" along Shinobazu Street, but I decided to make the effort to go back to Dangozaka and challenge "Wa no Izakaya Tsuki" after a long time. It's an underground restaurant in a mixed-use building, and there was a line for some reason at the stairs leading to a bar next door that seemed like a live house. Ignoring that, I went down the stairs and stormed into the izakaya on the right! I think the place has become more approachable compared to when I last visited a few years ago. It was past 6 pm and there were only two other customers, so I secured a corner at the counter where no one was sitting! They have a great selection of sake, so my expectations were raised. First, I ordered the recommended "Yuki no Chaya" junmai ginjo in a glass! It's a fruity and delicious sake made from Akita rice Komachi, almost like white wine! For my second drink, I added another Akita sake, "Yuki no Bijin" junmai ginjo. It also uses Akita rice Komachi and had a rich umami taste. To finish, I had a Miyagi sake, the limited edition junmai hiyaoroshi "Suminoe". For snacks, I had three appetizers, turtle simmered dish, horse sashimi, and beef tendon fried dumplings, and finished with plum tea pickles. The total came to 4740 yen, a bit on the expensive side, but I was satisfied with enjoying sake and snacks. Overall, I would rate it 3.5 stars! Next time, I would like to try sashimi and more delicious sake!

I stopped by the second time at the octopus specialty store, Sanchu. It is located just a 1-minute walk from exit 1 of Chiyoda Line Sendagi Station, on Dangozaka. The store has convenient opening hours until 1:00 AM, which is great for those who like to hop between bars. We had a variety of drinks and the menu included appetizers, beer, shochu, grapefruit juice, and more. The store has counter seating, tables, and even private rooms on the second floor. Their website shows a wide selection of sake and shochu brands, with popular choices always available. They will also start serving hotpot dishes like kiritanpo, chicken, and anglerfish hotpot from October. I look forward to trying their delicious snacks next time with an empty stomach!

On March 8th (Friday), after finishing work, the drinking enthusiast took a taxi to Sendagi. Today, they arrived at the Japanese izakaya "Tsuki" in Sendagi for a party!! "Tsuki" is known for hosting events like sake tasting, and the drinking enthusiast had been wanting to visit this place for a while, so they made a reservation themselves. The course for today was the Gourmet Course (Pine) with a premium all-you-can-drink option!! They started with a toast with draft beer!! As expected from a gourmet course, dishes kept coming one after another. They had a platter of three rare delicacies, oboro tofu, special mixed salad, Kumamoto horse tendon stew, turtle stew, Fukui bamboo tempura, assorted sashimi, potato salad, Satsuma black pork belly with daikon radish, Kumamoto horse sashimi platter, flounder, and Kumamoto black wagyu beef tataki, among others. There were so many dishes that some of them were unfamiliar. Truly a gourmet course!! They then moved on to sake for drinks and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the menu. They would like to visit this place again to savor various dishes and sake, rather than for a party.

This is a restaurant located underground along Dangozaka Street, just outside Sendagi Station. I sometimes stop by alone after work, or enjoy a drink with friends. They offer a selection of Japanese sake and shochu from various breweries across the country, making it a great spot for sake enthusiasts. You can choose from 60cc, 120cc, or a full bottle to enjoy a variety of drinks. As for food, they start with a three-item appetizer platter as a starter (table charge of 500 yen). The appetizer usually includes smoked duck, spicy cod roe on mackerel, and uni tofu from Itsuki Village in Kumamoto Prefecture, which is perfect for sake lovers. The restaurant also serves fresh sashimi, horse sashimi, and creatively crafted dishes inspired by regional specialties. Some of my favorites are Kumamoto spicy lotus root (580 yen), fish croquettes (starting from 680 yen), oboro tofu (480 yen), Satsuma black pork with daikon radish (780 yen), and simmered turtle beans (580 yen), all delicately seasoned. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant allows for a pleasant dining experience, with friendly staff who don't intrude. When dining here, you receive a 10% discount coupon valid for two months. Additionally, there are coupons available on the restaurant's website. Why not take advantage of them? Check out "Izakaya Tsuki" website at http://dp33105458.lolipop.jp/index.html.

Next, where should we go? Oh, I have a place in mind in Dundozoaka that I'm interested in. Let's go there! The drinking buddies immediately agree, no hesitation. But you see, we're walking from Hongo to Sendagi, which means walking more than one station. Even though the sun is starting to set, it's still hot. And because I have my work tools with me, it's heavy. I'm sweating a lot. Are we there yet? Just a little more! This back and forth continues until we finally reach the bottom of Dundozoaka. The place I'm interested in is here and here. We take a look at the exterior and decide to enter a Japanese izakaya called Tsuki. First, we order draft beer. The appetizers are spicy lotus root, cucumber and enoki mushroom salad, and smoked duck. Ah, it's refreshing. After sweating so much, I finish the draft in one gulp and move on to sake. The first one is Suminoe from Miyagi. Next, the captain orders pickled mackerel, and I order grilled squid. Both go well with sake, especially the grilled squid which is excellent without any fishy smell. This is a hit! Next, I choose Tokishirazu from Fukui, which the female owner recommends warming up. I follow her advice and have it warmed up to 40 degrees. Then, I try Bousha from Akita, followed by Jikon from Mie. I got to enjoy a variety of Japanese sake. Thank you for the meal.

On July 29, we headed towards Chitosegi after drinking a lot of beer at the University of Tokyo. We found an interesting restaurant in Danzaka that we wanted to check out. The restaurant seemed to focus on Japanese sake, which was perfect for me as I've been into sake recently. Despite having just drunk beer, walking from Hongou made me thirsty again. So, we ordered Ebisu draft beer to start. The appetizers included thickly sliced smoked duck, enoki and cucumber salad, and mustard lotus root. The enoki salad was particularly delicious. We then tried a Miyagi sake called "Bokunoe Tokubetsu Junmai," which was smooth and flavorful. The highlight of the meal was the grilled dried mullet roe, which was surprisingly tasty. We also ordered marinated mackerel, a specialty from Fukui, and paired it with a Fukui sake called "Banshu Tokushu Junmai." The owner recommended trying it at different temperatures, and it was a delightful experience. Overall, it was a great find, and we left the restaurant feeling happy and satisfied. Next, we decided to head towards Nippori for more food adventures. (To be continued)

From Chiyoda Line Sendagi Station, just a one-minute walk away, there is a cozy izakaya called "Tsuki" where a local sake event featuring Yuri Masamune from Sairyu Shuzo in Akita is being held. The brewery owner is here to talk about the sake-making process while we enjoy a variety of dishes: - Assorted appetizers: smoked duck, grilled mackerel with spicy cod roe, uni tofu from Gokimura, Kumamoto - Premium oboro tofu with black sesame - Sashimi of sardines with ginger soy sauce - Mixed salad with tuna, small dried fish, and tofu - Assorted horse sashimi from Kumamoto (mane and lean meat) - Stir-fried chicken with rich flavors - Oden with a variety of ingredients - Salted rice ball with fresh rice - Sake list featuring various sake brands The atmosphere is delightful, and the food and sake are truly delicious. It's a place worth visiting, conveniently located near the station. Come and enjoy the experience at the newly renovated izakaya "Tsuki"!

Formerly located in Yushima and relocated to Higashi Ueno, the restaurant began operating in Sendagi in July 2008. After renovation work in the summer of 2009, it reopened in September. Just a one-minute walk from Exit 1 of Chiyoda Line Sendagi Station. With a capacity of around 40 seats, including counter seats, table seats, and a second-floor seating area divided into two floors, it is ideal for gatherings of about 10 people. They offer a wide variety of sake and shochu, and the knowledgeable owner is happy to answer any questions. Sake is available in 60cc, 120cc, 180cc, allowing for an appropriate amount to be enjoyed. The food menu consists of dishes that complement the taste of the alcohol. The restaurant has a versatile atmosphere that can cater to various customer needs, making it suitable for group reservations. It is a recommended option for gatherings, but personally, I prefer sitting at the counter and enjoying my favorite sake brand. (laughs)

I ordered the 1,800 yen course and the 2,000 yen all-you-can-drink option, and the food was decent. There were about 5-6 dishes served, so the cost performance was good. However, the all-you-can-drink option had a limit where you could only have shochu for 580 yen per glass or sake for under 800 yen per serving, which was quite restrictive. Also, the service was mediocre. There weren't enough staff, so we had to wait, and when we wanted to order more drinks after the 2-hour course and all-you-can-drink ended, we were told that customers who ordered the course and all-you-can-drink were not allowed to do so. It's frustrating that they couldn't be more flexible, as leaving and re-entering the restaurant would achieve the same result. The food was not bad, but I now understand why the overall rating doesn't go up. I might not visit again. If I do, I'll just go for the a la carte menu.

There is a counter, but it seems difficult to have a conversation with the kitchen staff about drinks, food, or anything in the area. The staff does not seem to interact much with customers. It is a modern place where you can easily use your smartphone while sitting, similar to what you see on trains. The restaurant offers a variety of drinks and dishes, allowing customers to eat and talk as they please. The TV was playing the Japanese cartoon "Chibi Maruko-chan" instead of American pop music, which was unexpected. The entrance to the restaurant was a bit hard to find, and the stairs were narrow, so caution is advised. The menu includes a wide selection of sake and shochu, with a glass of the daily sake priced at 250 yen. The food menu includes items like mountain vegetables, homemade tofu in different varieties, miso-marinated cream cheese, smoked duck, local sardines, and more. The owner, who also serves as the waitress, seems to handle the front hall, serving dishes, and drinks. There is another staff member in the kitchen, as sounds can be heard from the back. A man who entered later tried to place an order but had to wait as the owner was busy preparing for a sudden arrival of a group. When ordering, the owner provides a detailed explanation of the available horse sashimi. I opted for a glass of Yuki no Kaya Junmai Ginjo sake, which was easy to drink with a clean finish. The second glass of Toyobai Junmai Ginjo was slightly drier but still light and refreshing. The pickled vegetable served was a type of green plant resembling sprouts, which added a crunchy texture to the meal. The restaurant had a serene atmosphere with hanging branches of Yamadanishiki rice plants, creating a unique ambiance.

On Friday, I visited this restaurant without checking beforehand, as the other places I wanted to go were full. But it turned out to be a great choice! I love sake but I can never remember the names, so I'd like to try different ones with some guidance next time. What I had: - Appetizers (spicy lotus root, smoked duck, and 3 other items) - Sake of the day (250 yen for 100ml) - on that day, it was "Kudoki Jozu" (dry) - Kudoki Jozu sake (400 yen for 100ml) x4 - Shredded dried fish with grated radish - Crab croquette (my personal favorite) - Smoked duck - Mackerel simmered in miso - Braised horse meat - Thick rolled omelette

When I wrote this, you might know who I am, but since I won't be going back, I'll write it. I went to this place and ordered vegetable croquettes, but what came out was croquettes with cold filling. I told the female owner about it, and she took the dish back once, but instead of remaking it, she brought back the croquettes with the cold filling that we had cut in half and reheated, saying, "I told the kitchen staff that we are serving the croquettes with slightly cold filling because the vegetables are cooked." Normally, if you are served croquettes with cold filling, 100 out of 100 people would think it's undercooked! I realized one of the two croquettes had cold filling because I had taken a bite, but the other one, which I hadn't eaten, had obvious black burn marks on it, indicating it had been reheated in a frying pan. A sincere restaurant would remake the dish, but it seems like they intentionally serve cold croquettes, so when you complain about it being cold, they just reheat it. The Adachi area already has a shortage of izakayas, and now I have one less place to go to...

I was asked to give a lecture on sake and decided to hold a study session at the izakaya Tsuki in Sendagi. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building near the station, and it has a cozy atmosphere. The female staff's service was a bit cold and not very friendly. For this study session, we ordered three types of Eikun sake and Kamikame sake to pair with our dishes. The appetizer was decent, with some attention to detail. The salted squid guts and the sashimi of Pacific saury and bigfin reef squid were okay. The fish croquettes, especially the mackerel version, were average. The zucchini salad was ordinary. The food was not bad, but lacked impact, so I'm not sure if I would visit again.

Chiyoda Line, turn right at the first exit of Sendagi Station and walk for 1 minute. We decided to have a drink in Sendagi on a whim, and ended up at this restaurant. As we went downstairs, we found tables and chairs as well as a small raised seating area. My friend and I sat at a table for two. They have a wide variety of shochu and sake. Although I am not very knowledgeable about alcohol, I think they have quite a selection. We started with a tasting set of three kinds of sake, "Jinbei," "Tadashi," and then moved on to beer. We enjoyed appetizers such as smoked duck, mountain sea urchin tofu, stir-fried mountain jellyfish, grilled whole squid, thick fried tofu, beef sashimi, simmered horse tendon, spicy lotus root, firefly squid marinated in seaweed, and croquettes with special eggs. A woman was handling both cooking and service by herself, and seemed a bit busy. It seems like this place has a strong focus on sake and shochu. It would be great for those who appreciate that.
