This is a shop located about a 4-minute walk from Kokubunji Station North Exit, specializing in onigiri (rice balls) and side dishes. While mainly for takeout, they also offer limited seating for dining in. The interior is bright and stylish like a cafe, with a small counter seating for 6 and one table for 2, and they have power outlets available, which is convenient. On my first visit, I tried a rice ball with miso soup inside the shop. The Jaco ginger onigiri was priced at 220 yen and the miso soup at 100 yen. The rice ball was perfectly textured, not too soft or hard, and the Jaco ginger mixed in was flavorful without being overpowering. The miso soup was hearty with plenty of ingredients, and the aroma of the broth and miso was soothing. On my second visit, I finally tried their handmade soba noodles. The Handmade Soba Set was priced at 1200 yen, and I also ordered an Ebisu beer for 700 yen. The soba set came with a choice of 2 side dishes from a selection of 5-6 options. I started with the side dishes while enjoying my beer. The combination of well-prepared side dishes and beer was delightful. The soba noodles were uneven in thickness and cut, unlike those from a traditional soba shop, but they had a nice grainy aroma and a sweet flavor when chewed. They paired well with the light dipping sauce, and although I could have eaten more, the generous portion left me satisfied. I also enjoyed a bowl of soba-yu (soba water) to finish the meal. The shop is run by a couple, and their warm and friendly service creates a cozy atmosphere where you can relax quietly. They are open from morning until early evening, making it convenient for a meal or a casual drink at any time. With a good idea of the portion sizes now, I look forward to trying a combination of 3 side dishes, a beer, and a rice ball on my next visit. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had a set of onigiri for 900 yen. The onigiri were flavored with fuki miso and dried baby sardines with ginger. Both were delicious and fluffy. The onigiri had the ingredients lightly mixed into the rice instead of being placed in the center. The set also came with a bowl of miso soup and a choice of two side dishes from the showcase. I chose sautéed squid with basil and mustard potato salad. The dishes were served in handmade wooden bowls, which added to the charm of the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had one ふき味噌 (fuki miso) rice ball for 200 yen. I enjoyed it with complimentary hot tea inside the store. The flavor of the fuki miso was very good, but the rice was a bit hard. I'm not sure if it was just that time, but I would like to go back and try it again. I also want to try the soba noodles next time.

This is my first time getting off at Kokubunji station, wow, it's amazing. I finished my errands and decided to have lunch. On my way to the ramen shop I was aiming for, I noticed a soba restaurant? It looked more like a cafe. It was cold outside, so I was intrigued by the warm mushroom soba and decided to go in. The cafe-like interior was bright and cute. The soup had a slight sweetness to it, which warmed my chilled body. The thick slices of various mushrooms in the soba were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The soba itself was firm and tasty, with a good portion size that left me feeling full. The set menu also had a healthy feel to it, making it ideal for young women. The place had a sense of cleanliness and I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

A shop in Kokubunji, Tokyo that specializes in traditional Japanese rice balls. I happened to pass by this shop and saw the sign for "soba" and "oyakodon" (chicken and egg rice bowl). I decided to visit without any prior knowledge. I ordered the "Asagohan Onigiri Set" for 900 yen, which comes with two rice balls. It was around 9 in the morning, right after the shop opened, so the menu was still being prepared. The set arrived in 5 minutes, consisting of two beautifully presented containers - one with the rice balls and the other with side dishes, along with miso soup. The rice balls were made with salmon, shiso leaves, and dried baby sardines. The side dishes included tamagoyaki (rolled omelette), grilled mackerel, broccoli salad with mayonnaise, and simmered koyadofu (freeze-dried tofu) with onions in the miso soup. The rice was moist and delicious, and the rice balls were large and satisfying. The side dishes were simple yet flavorful, showcasing the natural taste of the ingredients. The balance of flavors was perfect, and I didn't get tired of eating them at all. It felt more like a lunch bento box than a breakfast. It was a delicious breakfast that reminded me of the importance of presentation in food and how eating good food can make you feel energized.

I was knocked out by the amazing onigiri and side dishes at Oyui, a shop specializing in onigiri, side dishes, bento boxes, and deli items located along Daigaku Street, east of JR Chuo Line Kokubunji Station. They recently relocated from Kokubunji Station South Exit to National Station South Exit in May 2022. The shop has a bright and clean interior with a kitchen and counter seats. They offer soba, wooden box rice dishes inspired by Nara's Naraai-juku, brown rice plates, onigiri sets, and more for dining in. The friendly owners engaged in lively conversation about Naraai-juku. I bought two Oyui bento boxes to go, which allow you to choose from a variety of options, including two out of seven onigiri flavors and four out of eight side dishes. I chose recommended shiso kombu and fuki miso onigiri, and broccoli mentaiko salad, pork shabu-shabu, spicy konjac, and yam and asparagus for the side dishes. The separate nori sheet for the onigiri to prevent it from getting soggy during transport was a nice touch. The onigiri was made with excellent rice cooked to perfection, holding its shape well. The side dishes were all delicious. I was instantly captivated by the flavors. I can't wait to try their wooden box rice dishes next time. Highly recommended. ★★★★★ No parking available, but plenty of nearby options. Visited on April 9, 2023, for a takeout lunch. Opening hours are 11:30-19:30, with no fixed closing day. They accept credit cards, electronic money including PayPay, and offer free WiFi. No power outlets at the seats. High likelihood of returning in the future.

I really liked it. A new onigiri and soba restaurant that opened in Kokubunji in 2022. It seems like it used to be in Kunitachi and then moved. The interior of the shop is a small space with a few seats. I got a takeout onigiri bento for 900 yen. It came with one salmon and one plum onigiri, and you could choose four side dishes. There were 9 options for side dishes that day, so we chose 8 since there were two of us. There were side dishes like sweet and savory simmered konjac, ginger pork, and liver stir-fry, all of which were surprisingly delicious! Each side dish was top-notch, with fresh vegetables and excellent seasoning. It was impressive how tasty the side dishes were, showcasing the professional skills behind them. The onigiri was a bit soft for my liking, but the side dishes alone are worth going back for.
