I visited the most affordable restaurant in the Numata-san series, "Tensei," and it was delicious. The restaurant is located in Tenjinbashi. There are several renowned restaurants in this area. It has a residential neighborhood feel. We visited for lunch but opted for the evening course, which was quite reasonable at just over 6000 yen. The entrance is small with about 11 seats at the counter. The staff, consisting of about three men, provided standard service. We started with freshly made batter. We had:
- Tilefish chawanmushi
- Freshwater eel hand-rolled sushi
- Salad
- Tempura: shrimp head, shrimp, green beans, fugu leaf roll, lotus root, mochi sandwich with karasumi, shirako with turnip miso, chervil, negi onion, broccoli, swordfish, choice between freshwater eel or duck
- Tempura egg over rice
- Tempura egg yolk
- Truffle-flavored white fish meringue
- Tempura crumbs
- Sweet potato tempura with ice cream
For this price, the performance was exceptional. The oil was well-drained, and the ingredients were decent. As expected from a restaurant in the Numata-san series, it was very delicious and satisfying. Next to the restaurant is another affiliated restaurant, Tensei Hanare, which also piques my interest. Tensei Sanyori is a step above this restaurant. If given the chance, I would like to try that one too. In terms of cost performance, this tempura course was excellent. To understand the goodness of Osaka tempura, starting from this restaurant might be a good idea. I highly recommend trying it out. By the way, the regular lunch course is 3,300 yen, which is also highly recommended. Thank you for the meal.
