Visited around 3:30 pm. Waited in line for about 20 minutes before entering. Ordered the "Kyushu Black Wagyu Beef Grilled Curry S (1,400 yen)" and the "Grilled Banana Curry S (900 yen)". There is an egg in the middle that, when cracked, turns the curry into a creamy consistency. The Black Wagyu beef was tender and not too fatty, very delicious. The banana was sweet and paired well with the curry. It was my first experience with grilled curry, but I would definitely want to eat it again. Overall, very satisfied with the deliciousness. It is said to be at a level of spiciness that even young children can eat, but for those who are not good with spicy food, it is better to choose the mild option for an additional 20 yen.

The restaurant is located close to Moji Port Station and the night view from the window is very beautiful! Even though I visited near closing time, there were many people and I had to wait in line. The chili oil for flavor variation and Fukujin pickles were delicious! You can also choose the level of spiciness. It's quite spicy, so it seems like it would be good to order extra rice! I will definitely go again ^_^

A few minutes by boat from Shimonoseki on the opposite bank is Moji Port in Kitakyushu. When you think of Moji, you think of baked curry. I was happy to see they had a small size option here. So, I ordered the normal double cheese baked curry in size small for 800 yen. My companion had the seafood curry, and another had the vegetable baked curry. The vegetable curry had salad on top. The hot curry wasn't spicy at all. They mentioned adding their special aromatic oil to increase the spiciness, but they were out of it at the moment.

A specialty store for baked curry located right near Moji Port Station. The shop is on the second floor, and it can get crowded at lunchtime. When I visited in the evening, there were only about 3 groups of customers. However, more customers kept coming in afterwards, so you might have to wait if you arrive at a busy time. I ordered the Triple Meat baked curry with extra spiciness. It comes with asparagus as the vegetable topping. Every baked curry comes with egg and cheese, which adds a unique and delicious touch. The curry stays hot for a long time and has a fragrant aroma that makes you crave for it occasionally.

After sightseeing in Yamaguchi Prefecture, we crossed the Kanmon Strait and stopped by Moji. If you're in Moji, you have to try the baked curry. This restaurant is famous for its baked curry, so we came to eat it. I had the double cheese baked curry with medium spiciness level 2, and my companion had the triple meat baked curry with medium spiciness level 5. When we asked the staff about the spiciness, they said it's a gentle spiciness, so even at 2 and 5 times the level, it wouldn't be extremely spicy. I've had baked curry about 4 times before. This restaurant serves it piping hot on a hot plate. It's delicious. The base seems to be a Western-style curry. There's an egg underneath, and when you dig in with a spoon, it melts and mixes with the curry, which is tasty. The meat in my companion's dish, beef, pork, chicken, is chunky and tender, and delicious. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

Moji Port is known for its baked curry, so I waited in line for about 15 minutes. Once I reached the stairs, a cool breeze greeted me, making the wait bearable. They offer different sizes of baked curry - S, M, and L. I chose the baked curry with shrimp and avocado. The dish was served at the counter, and I enjoyed it while sweating profusely. The fluffy white thing in the middle might have been creamy potato salad. There was also a half-boiled egg buried in the curry, which was delicious. I was happy to find plenty of shrimp in the curry. Towards the end, I added some Fukujinzuke (pickles with tiny fish) from the condiments on the table, which was tasty. Despite the intense heat, I managed to finish the meal. Even the small size was quite filling! It was delicious!

I enjoyed a hot curry while waiting in line for 15 minutes at Moji Port on a scorching day. The curry was still steaming hot until the last bite, and it was delicious. Honestly, I don't think the chili oil for flavor variation is necessary. It's said to be 5 times spicier, but it was a bit lacking for spice lovers. The hot curry was really tasty!

1 Grilled curry with black wagyu beef from Kyushu, Caesar salad
2 Grilled curry, the recommended dish at the restaurant using Kyushu black wagyu beef. The meat was tender and the curry had a delicious European taste.
3 The salad portion was large, making it difficult to finish. The grilled curry alone was sufficient in terms of quantity.

I drove here to try the long-awaited Mojiko Yaki Curry. There is no parking lot at the restaurant in front of Mojiko Port Station, but there is a affiliated parking lot available. However, please be aware that there may not be any discounts depending on the amount. As a specialty store for Yaki Curry, the menu is extensive. I chose the Double Cheese Yaki Curry and Salad Set from the many options. The Yaki Curry was not as spicy as I had expected, but rather mild. It may be a bit lacking for those who like spicy food. (It is possible to make it spicier with additional spicy oil) As you eat, an egg appears, allowing for a change in taste. Additionally, adding Jakko to the Fukujin pickles allows for further flavor changes. Thank you for the meal.

Just a 2-minute walk from Moji Port Station, amidst a row of popular curry shops that have become a staple of Moji Port Retro, I entered this sushi restaurant located on the second floor. Despite usually having long lines, I was able to get in without waiting on a weekday afternoon at 5 o'clock. I sat at the counter by the window. I ordered the Kyushu black wagyu beef curry for ¥1,400! It arrived on a hot iron plate after about 10 minutes! In the middle of the curry sauce, there was an egg, melty cheese, rice at the bottom, and black wagyu beef scattered around the edges. It was just the right level of spiciness, and the black wagyu beef was tender and delicious. The Fukujinzuke with tiny fish was also a nice touch. By the time I left, the popular restaurant was almost full.

Around noon, I visited the restaurant and waited for about 20 minutes. The menu I ordered was:
- Double Cheese Baked Curry M ¥900
- Kyushu Black Wagyu Baked Curry S ¥1,400
Both dishes were delicious and served hot. Personally, I recommend the "Kyushu Black Wagyu Baked Curry" as it had eggs and cheese in it, making it really tasty. The Double Cheese curry is a must-try for cheese lovers.
This restaurant is known for its baked curry, and since there were long lines at other nearby restaurants, I would like to try different places next time. Please let me know if you have any recommendations! Thank you for reading until the end! Likes and saves would make me happy. Please also check out my Instagram @gourmet_tabi.

I started lining up before 12 o'clock and waited for less than 30 minutes. The curry is not spicy, which is great for me as I can't handle spicy food. The soft-boiled egg is well done. For those who like spicy food, they can make it spicy so no need to worry. It seems like it's not really for solo diners as they don't have lunch sets on weekends, so when I ordered a salad as a side, it was quite a large portion. I ordered the curry in a small size, but couldn't finish the salad.

There were many curry restaurants in Moji Port, but I chose Curry Honpo near the station. I was drawn to the order of domestic Wagyu beef curry and decided to enter. It was past 2 pm on a weekday, but the restaurant was almost full, indicating its popularity. Under the cheese in the center, there was an egg yolk, and I enjoyed it while changing the taste halfway through.

I ordered the chicken curry, extra large portion, with a spice level of 5. The curry tasted like something you would find at an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant. It had a raw egg in it, so deciding whether to cook the egg or not was a dilemma. The chili oil on the table was a bit strange in both taste and packaging. I added it and regretted it later.

I waited in line for about 15 minutes before entering the restaurant. I ordered the classic baked curry, which was incredibly delicious. However, I noticed that there was quite a bit of curry splattered on the partition, which bothered me, so I am giving it 4 stars. Nevertheless, the baked curry is really tasty, so I recommend this restaurant!

This is a curry restaurant located a short walk from Moji Port Station. The roots of baked curry are said to have started by baking leftover curry with an egg on top. The curry here uses a Western-style curry base. It is made by combining carefully sautéed brown roux and homemade broth to create a rich and flavorful roux that expresses both depth and crispiness. The baked curry is very appetizing.

Moji Port Station is my first time visiting, and it's a wonderful town with a lot of atmosphere. The retro brick buildings, the harbor right next to it, and the view of Shimonoseki in the distance! And it's so close!! It feels like they're connected! Moji Port was a thriving town during the Meiji era due to its trade with overseas countries. Foreign cultures and food cultures blended in with Japanese culture here. This area and the port are called "Moji Port Retro" as a tourist area.
There are various theories about the origin of baked curry, but it seems that in the 1950s, a café baked leftover curry in the oven like gratin, which turned out to be delicious and popular as a menu item in the shop and eventually spread to households. This retro place is housed in a brick building on the 2nd floor that still remains today! The exterior is wonderful, but the view from inside is amazing too! You can see all the way to Shimonoseki!
I ordered the Double Cheese Baked Curry (S size) for 750 yen, since I've been eating a lot lately (udon in the morning, and later I'll have motsunabe, ramen, etc.!). But they have a lot of menu options! They even have interesting items like banana curry. The baked curry has a nice crispy cheese topping and it's piping hot. The curry itself is delicious! I initially only thought of trying it as a local specialty, but it exceeded my expectations in terms of taste! It's a traditional thick wheat curry with a rich flavor profile, carefully simmered with various ingredients to bring out a deep complexity of spiciness, sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and richness! Breaking the egg into it makes the curry even smoother. The view of the sea from the window adds to the dining experience. There's nothing quite like enjoying curry in this atmosphere and scenery. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I tried the famous baked curry at Moji Port. I wasn't expecting much in terms of taste since it's a tourist spot, but it was actually delicious. There was an egg in the middle, and I broke it and mixed it in while eating. It had a rich and tasty flavor that didn't get old. I feel like I want to eat it regularly, even though it's far away.

At the end of my visit to Kokura, I had the Double Cheese Curry Small for my second meal. The curry arrived on a hot plate, bubbling and hot. It was slightly sweet, making it suitable even for children. As I ate, the delicious burnt bits on the bottom of the plate added to the flavor. The retro atmosphere added to the experience. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
