Local people often say that when it comes to sushi restaurants in Otaru, 8 out of 10 people will mention "Otaru Masazushi" as the top choice. This time, when trying to make a reservation for a gathering of 10 people, the main store was fully booked. However, we were able to secure a reservation at "Otaru Masazushi Zenan," which is located right in front of the Otaru Canal, a prime tourist spot. The first floor is a parking lot, and the second floor is where the restaurant is located. Upon entering, the restaurant was already covered in snow, creating a picturesque scene. There are counter seats, table seats, and private rooms available. We opted for the 8,000 yen course this time. To be honest, the amount of food served for 8,000 yen was quite overwhelming, especially for older individuals. The course included a separate charge for a draft beer, steamed abalone, vinegar dish with seaweed, chrysanthemum, and cucumber, simmered dish of yellowtail and bamboo shoots, tea-steamed egg custard with sea urchin, Kyoto-style grilled silver cod, tempura with prawns, shiitake mushrooms, and green pepper, sushi with tuna, amberjack, salmon, scallop, and sea urchin, along with miso soup, and a dessert of matcha roll cake with strawberries. Despite being full, the food was delicious, and everyone left satisfied, commenting "As expected of Otaru Masazushi!" The restaurant was bustling with customers waiting for a table inside.
