One day, I decided to go on a trip to heal my broken heart. I searched for a place near Sapporo where I could stay for under 20,000 yen per night and enjoy delicious food, and that's how I found Furukawa in Otaru. I had a great experience at Furukawa's detached house in Noboribetsu before, so I thought Furukawa in Otaru would be just as good. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily on the day of my visit. I walked from Otaru Station with an umbrella, which was quite a challenge, but I finally arrived. As soon as I arrived, a staff member who happened to be at the entrance guided me inside. They offered to take my umbrella and dry it at the front desk. I checked in at the old-fashioned and stylish front desk. The welcome drink options were tea, onion soup, and homemade wine, and I chose the wine without hesitation. The mini glass of chilled white wine was delicious. While my room was being prepared, I relaxed in the lounge area, where I could read a book or enjoy tea. I chose yuzu tea, served in a lovely cup, and it helped me relax. When my room was ready, I was escorted there by a staff member who carried my luggage. Since I was traveling alone, I booked a single room. The room had a large bed, TV, desk, tea, and a bathroom, which was sufficient for me. I was pleased to find a bottle of chilled water in the room. I immediately headed to the bath, which turned out to be a private outdoor bath, and I had it all to myself due to the rain stopping. The dinner started at 6 pm, and I had a window seat facing the Otaru Canal for the first half of the meal. The menu was a step above the regular offerings. I started with a lychee liqueur as an aperitif, followed by a Pilsner beer from Otaru. The consomme was delicious, and the sashimi included botan shrimp with sea urchin, which was a pleasant surprise. The main course was a sublime Wagyu sirloin shabu-shabu, and the meal ended with a delightful crab and clam rice dish. The next morning, breakfast was also served in the same venue, and I enjoyed a buffet with a view of the Otaru Canal. The breakfast was a luxurious experience, and I left the restaurant feeling satisfied.
