Unagi Day. While many Matsuya locations had already finished serving their unagi bowls for the night, this particular restaurant was still open. Perhaps due to its location, there were no customers on this weekend night. As for the unagi bowl itself, it was just okay. Not incredibly delicious, but it's a good option when you want to quickly and affordably enjoy some eel.

I used to make curry once a month during winter, but recently I haven't been making it at all. As a result, I have been eating curry out more often. Among restaurants in this price range, I think Matsuya's curry is the best. Being able to eat it for just one coin makes me very happy haha. *Ratings are based on the curry only!*

This is a review of Matsuya, a chain restaurant known for its beef bowl. I was drawn in by the sign advertising their original curry, and decided to give it a try. I used my SUICA card to pay for my order, which was the Original Curry with extra meat (premium size) for 720 yen. The order was ready in about 5 minutes, and the portion size was good. However, I felt that the spiciness was a bit lacking. I noticed they had a lot of shichimi (Japanese seven spice) packets available, so I tried adding some to my curry, but it didn't make much of a difference. The meat was tender and the overall taste was decent. It was a typical fast food experience. There were customers coming in one after another, with about half of them ordering takeout.

I decided to have the premium beef bowl set at Matsuya for lunch on a holiday working day. I was planning to try the "Gorogoro Chicken" curry that I was impressed by the other day, but I ended up going with the classic beef bowl. Lately, I've been trying out limited-time menu items and eating a lot of curry, but Matsuya's beef bowl is really delicious. It's true that you should go to a specialist for the best quality.

I found Matsuya near the Tobu Nerima Station. It was 10:55, just in time for breakfast. I ordered a small portion of rice with a mini gyudon and a choice of small side dish. I purchased a meal ticket and found a seat. The store was clean and the staff was friendly. The best part was that they provided black shichimi pepper. It was the first time I had seen a breakfast menu offering black shichimi pepper. The meat was a bit cheap-tasting, but not as strong as Yoshinoya. The seasoning was light, so it didn't make me thirsty. There was also an egg which made the meal creamy and enjoyable.

Today, I went to Matsuya in front of Itabashi Ward Office for lunch. The restaurant was a bit crowded and most of the counter seats were taken. There were about 12 counter seats, which is not a lot. I ordered the beef yakiniku set meal. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The beef was a bit tough, but it had a good flavor with salt and pepper. The salad had fresh vegetables and was crunchy. One thing to mention is that the counter seats were a bit dirty and looked untidy. Considering they were short-staffed, I thought it was okay overall.

I have to have an early dinner tomorrow because I have a health check-up, so I had beef bowl for the first time in a while. I ordered the regular beef bowl with extra sauce. I also ended up ordering curry as a side menu. I think Matsuya's curry is delicious lol.

This time, I used it during the morning time. I was unsure of what to order, but this time I ordered the Beef Yakiniku Set Meal (Mini Rice). It is a shop with a food ticket system. I have eaten beef bowls at various restaurants, but I was mainly a fan of Yoshinoya. However, the beef bowl here is really delicious. The flavor is rich, not too sweet or too spicy. It's nice that it comes with miso soup. The ginger is also tasty, and all this for 380 yen is cheap. I have already been here multiple times, and the taste is consistent. The taste can vary even at chain stores, maybe it depends on the store manager? I will definitely come back here. They always have some kind of campaign going on, like PayPay with 20% points back or Merpay with 50% back, which is much appreciated.

A casual gyudon chain. Matsuya is a chain that can be found anywhere, but the Itabashi Ward Office store was a first for me. I stopped by because I was feeling a bit hungry. In addition to the classic gyudon, the menu offers a variety of options. Today, I tried the "Plenty of Negi Salt Bowl Regular" for 450 yen (tax included). The grilling was done well and the taste was a bit unusual. It seems like they are trying out various things beyond just gyudon. The staff were energetic, greeting customers with a loud voice and creating a lively atmosphere.

Beef BBQ set meal Today, I had lunch at a restaurant called "Matsuya" near my company. I've been eating a lot of curry at "Matsuya" recently, but this time I went all out and ordered the "Beef BBQ set meal." I've always liked this menu, and when I want to eat a lot of rice with meat, I prefer this over beef bowl. Eating the meat wrapped in rice is so delicious. Another big point is the salad dressing with fresh vegetables. I love the French dressing at "Matsuya" so much that I even used to buy it for home use (laughs). Did you know you can buy it at the restaurant? I haven't been eating beef bowl at "Matsuya" at all recently. Well, that's okay (laughs).

Because it's so common, I rarely come to Matsuya. I wanted to have a quick lunch on a holiday and decided to use it for the first time in a while. The prices are so cheap that it's surprising. I was planning to get the regular beef bowl, but ended up getting the vegetable set as well. Even with that, it was just a little over 500 yen. The interior of the store only has a counter. There were at least two staff members, one of whom was a woman, which was nice. It gives a sense of security in their work. The beef bowl I had after a long time was delicious. Among chain beef bowl restaurants, Matsuya has a certain stability that I like. It's quite filling, and I ended up feeling very satisfied. The store is close to the subway exit, located on a corner facing the Nakasendo road, so it seems to attract a lot of customers. You can see the inside of the store from outside, so you can tell how crowded it is and feel reassured. Overall, I think it's quite good.

It is not only very delicious, but also perfect for when you are tired from work or just want to stop by. The deliciousness of the beef rice bowl at Matsuya is unmatched by other beef bowl restaurants. Among them, the Negi-Tama Gyudon stands out with its delicious sauce. While all the beef bowls are delicious, my favorite is the miso soup. The warm miso soup can be enjoyed in any season, whether it's winter or summer, and it brings a sense of happiness. Recently, my takeout rate has increased significantly haha. Matsuya is currently running a campaign. When you order for the first time through the app, you get 100 yen worth of points and double points. Today, it was 840 yen, but after the discount, it was actually 572 yen! I ordered the Beef Curry without toppings and the Pork Kimchi Bowl. I ate it before taking a picture again haha. Chain restaurant rice is really delicious as long as the water content is not messed up. The curry is especially delicious. The quality at this price is really amazing. Thank you for the meal.
