As the restrictions due to COVID gradually lift and more people are not wearing masks, I felt a strong sense of commitment to safety at this particular restaurant, where they have individual dividers in place. I ordered the soupless tantanmen as my first choice, but I'm intrigued by their lineup of dishes like mapo tofu noodles and traditional tantanmen, so I definitely want to try those next time. The soupless tantanmen I received was generously topped with minced meat and nuts, and as I ate through it, I realized there was a lot of filling, leaving only the ingredients towards the end. The balance of spiciness and numbing sensation in the tantan dishes is a defining feature of the restaurant, and in this case, I found the numbing sensation to be refreshing. Personally, I prefer a stronger numbing effect, so I was impressed. The grape seed oil on the table also enhances the numbing sensation, so I definitely want to try more of it next time. I will definitely be visiting again.

I had mapo noodles (extra spicy, half portion of noodles) at a candle shop directly connected to Kyobashi Station. It was convenient to be able to order not only the spiciness but also the amount of noodles through the ticket machine. The building itself is new, spacious, clean, and comfortable compared to Ginza. There are grapefruit and Sichuan pepper oil and chili peppers on the table, so you can add extra spiciness if needed. It was delicious!

The hot weather continues, so I chose the summer limited chilled tantanmen for lunch. The half rice option was free, so I requested that. The soup was a sesame tantan soup with a hint of peanut fragrance, slightly sweet but delicious. The spiciness and numbing sensation were a bit lacking. The noodles were medium-thin straight noodles with a good firmness that absorbed the soup well. There was a good amount of noodles, more than expected, providing a satisfying meal. The meat miso was not in small pieces but rather chunky, adding to the eating experience. Towards the end, I added grapefruit sansho oil and original chili to adjust the spiciness and numbing sensation to my liking. Finally, using a perforated spoon, I scooped up the meat miso and placed it on top of the half rice, creating a flavorful meat miso rice bowl. The rice was filled with meat miso, making it a filling meal along with the noodles.

It had been two months since my last visit. They had a limited-time offer of cold tantan noodles, but you couldn't adjust the spiciness level, so I opted for my usual dry tantan noodles, double spicy, without cilantro. Despite going around 11:40 during the Obon period, there was already a line of 9 people. It's truly popular. I enjoyed it as usual: 1. Mix well and eat as is without adding anything. Delicious. 2. Add chili pepper, blended vinegar, and grapefruit pepper. Also delicious. 3. Transfer the chunky minced meat onto half of the rice (lunchtime service). Mini minced meat bowl. 4. After finishing the noodles, enjoy the mini minced meat bowl. It was fantastic as always today.

Be careful with the Sichuan pepper oil, add it little by little! Arrived at the restaurant before 7:00 PM on a weekday and easily got a seat. Purchased a food ticket and was guided to my seat. After some hesitation, I chose the visually unique grilled cheese mapo noodles. You can choose the firmness of the noodles and the level of spiciness. Each table had a bottle of cold water and an apron for coughing. The wait was a bit long, probably because they make the mapo fresh. If you go for lunch, it might be a bit tight for work, but the restaurant is clean and classy, with a few female customers here and there. The atmosphere was lovely, with the sound of bubbling pots and slurping noodles. The noodles that arrived were overflowing with the aroma of spices! You could tell it was going to be delicious even before tasting it. As mentioned in the description, the mapo had large chunks of minced meat, giving it a nice texture. Spicy and delicious! When I tried to lift the noodles, they were a bit heavy, maybe because of the weight of the mapo or the firmness of the noodles. As I continued eating, the mapo coated the noodles better, so maybe it was the firmness after all? The authentic Chinese flavor was spicy yet soothing, warming you up from the inside. The cheese didn't stand out much, but it was tasty. The blended vinegar, with black vinegar in it, had a refreshing taste. Highly recommended for the middle of the meal. Lastly, I made a mistake by adding too much grape Sichuan pepper oil at once. Even as someone who likes spicy food and Sichuan pepper, I choked and coughed because it was so spicy. I later noticed in the description that it said to add it little by little. I hope this warning at the beginning prevents others from making the same mistake. Despite struggling towards the end, it was exactly the spicy and delicious taste I love. Next time, I'll try a different menu item!

On a regular day in 1910, I walked a fair distance from JR Tokyo Station to reach Kyobashi Trust Tower. I entered the restaurant without waiting and was greeted by the enticing aroma of tantanmen. They provided aprons at each table. I ordered the cold tantanmen for 1300 yen, with an extra serving of noodles for 100 yen and a flavored egg for 150 yen. The portion was larger than expected. The cold noodles were not extremely chilled but had a refreshing taste. The spiciness was moderate, so I might try adding more next time. Although the restaurant is a bit far, I am considering trying a different dish on my next visit. The grapefruit and sansho pepper oil for flavor enhancement did not quite match the cold tantanmen, as it was not recommended to begin with.

I have repeated this place many times. My favorite is the mapo noodles, the addictive flavor and perfect match with rice make me happily on the path to becoming fat. The soup-less tantan noodles are also delicious, so you can't go wrong with anything you choose at this restaurant. Thank you for the meal! Note: The grapefruit and sansho pepper oil is shockingly delicious, so be sure to try it for a flavor change!

Located inside Kyobashi Edogran, this candle shop was recommended to me by a friend. The interior features a unique counter with a variety of shapes. I ordered the mapo noodles for 1200 yen. Unfortunately, they were out of half rice, but it was offered as a service, which was a nice surprise. I was initially surprised to see so many people dining in this scorching heat, but there were over 10 people eating at around 2 pm, and more came in afterwards. The mapo noodles had a strong aroma and flavor. The first bite was irresistible, with a numbing sensation followed by a gradually building spiciness that left me sweating as I ate. I regret not adding cilantro on top, but I still enjoyed the bold flavors of the mapo noodles. Thank you for the meal!

Candle shop for the second time. This was my first time at the Kyobashi Edo Gran store! This place is set up for business people, with all seats being for one person. Even if you go with multiple people, you will be seated separately as seats become available. This winter, try their cold tantanmen! It's not too spicy, rather it has a sweet sesame flavor with a kick from the Sichuan pepper-infused chili oil. I added extra coriander and ate it like a salad, finishing it in no time. My friend had the mapo tofu noodles with cheese topping and extra Sichuan pepper. The cheese mellows out the numbing sensation from the Sichuan pepper, but with the extra pepper, the flavor is still intense! This ramen is perfect for hot days. I wish there was one near my house!

Boom! I finally made it here! #ShibireNoodles Well, I always wanted to try it, but even if I come at 11:30, there's always a long line. Today, I lined up again... There are only counter seats, I wonder how many seats there are in this small but very popular shop. I waited for about 15 minutes and finally got in. While waiting in line, I looked at the menu and tried to decide what to order. Although the cold sesame noodles were limited to the season, my body was too cold from the air conditioning, so I decided to go for the original dish of this shop, the #MapoMien. Even though I love the cold sesame noodles, I couldn't resist the #CilantroMapoMien with cilantro toppings. I chose the standard level of spiciness, which still gave a tingling sensation. My lips are still tingling, so I think level 4 is something to try next time. During weekday lunchtime, you can get half rice for free, but since I have plans tonight and didn't want to eat too much, I declined the rice. Instead, I poured the Mapo tofu from the Mapo Mien over the noodles, and it looked delicious. Almost everyone ordered the half rice option. The tofu was smooth and easy to eat, but when combined with the spicy soup (or is it a sauce?) of the Mapo Mien, it created a fiery sensation in the mouth. Well, I love spicy food, so it's fine for me, but those who are not good with spicy food might find it difficult to eat. This is definitely a restaurant for those who love spicy food. Even if you go with colleagues, the counter is divided with partitions, so you can only eat by yourself. Let's face the extreme spiciness and enjoy it. Next time, I'll go for level 4 spiciness. It makes you sweat on a hot day. #YaesuLunch #KyobashiLunch #KyobashiGourmet #SpicyFoodLover #SpicyRamen #Mapo #ShibireNoodles #Chibichie #YaesuOLLunch SHIBIRE-NOODLES Candle Shop Kyobashi Edo Gran Store 03-6262-7760 Tokyo, Chuo-ku, Kyobashi 2-2-1 Kyobashi Edo Gran B1F.

Today was the company's health check-up. I didn't eat anything since last night and entered the restaurant just before 9 pm today. It's always busy when I decide to eat out after a long fast like this... I haven't eaten anything for almost 24 hours. I was thinking about where to eat since last night, and narrowed it down to curry soba, pancakes, and mapo tofu ramen. But since I love curry soba, I decided to go for curry soba. I love curry soba! Looking forward to it! However, the restaurant was closed so I had to give up. I ended up going to a mapo tofu ramen place... My impression is that it was too spicy and I couldn't really tell what I was eating. I couldn't tell what I was eating until the end. So, I recommend it to those who like spicy food. It seems like I haven't been having much luck with mapo tofu lately...

13:40, I ordered the chilled tantanmen (1,300 yen) with extra noodles (100 yen). The counter was clean and I was seated right away. I handed my meal ticket to the staff and when asked if I wanted a free half portion of rice, I accepted. I chose the chilled tantanmen because I didn't want to sweat too much, although it was a bit of a challenge. Arrived at 13:51. I tried the soup - it had a numbing flavor and aroma, with hints of peanuts in the sesame tantan soup. It was slightly sweet and delicious! The numbing sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns was interesting - were they whole spices? The noodles were thin and straight, with a good texture that absorbed the soup well. They were so good that I even tapped them on the rice to eat. The meat miso was chunky and satisfying. The extra noodles I ordered were more than I expected - almost too much. As I got halfway through, I started to get a bit tired of the sweetness of the soup, so I tried different blends of vinegar and grapefruit pepper oil for a change in flavor. Both were tasty, but the vinegar blend helped tone down the sweetness of the soup a bit. In the end, I used a spoon with holes to scoop up the meat miso, placed it on top of the rice, and created a tantan miso meat rice bowl. It was really a full bowl of meat miso on top of the rice. I wish I had taken a photo. I finished the meal feeling very satisfied and full. I left the restaurant thinking about trying their traditional tantanmen next time. Thank you for the meal.

Thanks to a recommendation from a coworker, I discovered this amazing restaurant! As a huge fan of mapo tofu, I can't believe I had been walking past this place without knowing about it. The dish was so delicious that my mouth was numb halfway through, but I couldn't stop eating. The noodles were just the right thickness and easy to slurp up. I heard they offer mapo rice bowls for takeout, so I will definitely be getting that next time. I can't wait to enjoy it in the cozy warmth of winter, as I tend to sweat a lot in the summer.

I was looking for lunch at a somewhat awkward time of 3:00 pm while on a work trip nearby. I found a food court directly connected to the subway, with many tempting options but all seemed a bit pricey. I decided to go for a famous ramen shop for a quick and easy meal. It seemed to be a well-known place specializing in mapo ramen. I ordered the mapo men with two levels of spiciness for 1200 yen each. At first, I couldn't find the ticket machine, but it turned out to be on the right after entering. I missed out on the free rice until 3:00 pm. The ramen arrived in about 10 minutes, and it looked like a proper mapo tofu dish. When I tasted it, the spiciness was just right, not too overwhelming. If you are used to eating spicy food regularly, I would recommend going for level 4 spiciness without hesitation. I slurped the piping hot noodles while trying not to dissolve the mapo into the soup. It was delicious. I felt a bit unsatisfied, so I tried adding some extra Sichuan pepper and chili flakes, and before I knew it, I had finished the whole bowl. I hesitated to leave some soup, but I didn't want to waste any of the mapo tofu, so I ended up drinking it all. I should have had the rice as well...

This is my third visit to this restaurant. I usually come for lunch on weekdays, but today I visited on a Saturday. Since it's located in a business district, the restaurant was not crowded and we were able to be seated right away. I usually always order the dan dan noodles, but today I decided to try the soup-less tantan noodles. I'm not good with spicy food, but the deliciousness of the dish always wins me over, so I ended up finishing it despite sweating profusely. The soup-less tantan noodles come with cilantro, so if you don't like it, make sure to ask for it to be excluded. The flavor is very strong and there is a lot of minced meat, so getting a half portion of rice is a must.

It's spicy. Really spicy. But I can't stop eating. One bite after another, my mouth goes numb. By the end, my lips lose all feeling and even water tastes strange. The reason? I put too much Sichuan pepper oil. Warning ⚠️ If you're not good with spicy food, I recommend going for level 1 spiciness. Even at level 1, you should still be able to enjoy the candle shop.

It's been a while since I visited. This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I've tried everything on the menu, so I decided to go with the soupless dan dan noodles. I ordered it extra spicy without cilantro. I asked for extra noodles. Also, during lunchtime, they offer a half portion of rice for free. I like to mix everything well before eating, and halfway through, I add chili pepper, blended vinegar, and Sichuan pepper for a slight flavor change. The ground meat is large, so it doesn't mix well with the noodles, which is why I always scoop it onto the half portion of rice and eat it last.

I always rely on the candle shop in Omotesando. I meant to go to the main store, but ended up at this branch instead. The taste is always amazing no matter which store it is! It's definitely in my top 5 favorite ramen places. Today, I ordered the mapo men with an extra side of rice. The spiciness really gives me energy. I love pouring the grapefruit and sansho pepper oil on top. Thank you for the meal.

The taste of the Mapo Cheese Ramen is incredibly delicious. It reminds me of Sawakichi in Osaka. The only thing that bothers me is the fan integrated with the lighting. Because it rotates, the downlights constantly flicker and it's very distracting. I wish they would stop either the fan or the downlights.

I had some free time today, so I decided to take a walk around the city during my lunch break. I realized that I haven't had delicious ramen in a while. Then I remembered a ramen shop near Kyobashi Station that I saw before. I decided to go there and as I arrived around 11:30, there was only one person waiting in line. I checked the menu at the ticket machine and saw that the shop mainly serves tantanmen. Since I usually think the best tantanmen is at Szechuan Hanbei near Gakugeidaigaku Station, I chose a different menu item - mabo ramen. I heard that lunch comes with a side of rice, so I also got that. I suddenly remembered that I was wearing a white shirt today and didn't want to get soup stains on it, so I asked for some paper napkins. The mabo ramen arrived with a generous portion and it looked quite hot. I blew on it to cool it down and managed to finish it in about 15 minutes. The hot rice was perfect for cooling down the noodles. Just be careful not to spill it.

Candle shop with multiple locations popping up. Checked out the one in Kyobashi Edogrand BF. Just like the Ginza main store, they serve delicious mapo noodles in various places which is great. The menu is on a modern touch screen. You can even choose the firmness of the noodles. I ordered the mapo noodles, firm noodles, 4x spicy, super numbing. It was a little after 5 pm on a weekday and the place was quiet. Each bowl is carefully made in a Chinese wok, which is nice. The fragrant smell of mapo filled the air as the piping hot noodles arrived. Topped with plenty of Sichuan peppercorns, I mixed the thick noodles with the mapo sauce. The mapo noodles were consistent in quality just like the main store. The balance of spiciness, numbing sensation, and deliciousness was great. The silky smooth texture of the tofu was nice too. The strong punch of green onions was excellent. They intentionally use coarsely ground meat to enhance the flavor. Personally, I think the meat flavor was a bit too overpowering. The firm noodles were the right choice. I enjoyed the leftover mapo with a small bowl of rice. For those who love heat, I recommend trying the extra numbing option. The battle between spiciness, numbing sensation, and flavor is interesting. Your mouth will be on fire, so the water aftertaste might be a bit strange. I think the dish would be more balanced if they used regular ground meat instead of coarsely ground meat.
