On a certain weekday, I visited a restaurant bookmarked for its supposedly photogenic seafood bowl located at Higashi-7-jo Higashi-7-chome in Higashi-ku, Sapporo. The restaurant had a parking lot for 2 cars next to it, but if it's full, you can park at a nearby coin parking lot across from the gas station, and by showing your receipt, you can get a 100 yen discount on your meal. The interior of the restaurant had a typical izakaya style with 2 tables and 3 raised seating areas, and although it wasn't crowded during my visit, customers were coming and going. The background music was a daytime TV show playing on the television.
From the menu, I was intrigued by the 1900 yen sashimi boat set, but due to budget constraints, I opted for the "Over-the-Top Seafood Bowl (1500 yen, discounted to 1400 yen with parking)." After a short wait, it was served. The bowl, about 15cm in diameter, reminded me of a sushi restaurant in Ebetsu. I took a bite and found that the seafood was thick and fresh, with a large shrimp, scallop, white fish, flying fish roe, refreshing yellowtail, thick tuna slice, satisfying salmon, probably bonito tataki, hidden mackerel on the bottom, tamagoyaki, cucumber, nori, shiso, and more. The rice was intentionally made slightly firm.
The meal also included side dishes like leek and egg stir-fry, eringi mushroom and kaiware daikon salad, carrot, tofu, radish, and shiso leaf in a clear soup, and pickled vegetables. I realized that indeed, the bowl was visually appealing and would make a great photo. Next time, I would like to try a more standard 800 yen seafood bowl. Thank you for the meal.
