My friend had been saying "I want to eat crab" for about a week, and before I knew it, he had made a reservation for us. The restaurant was called "Crab Festival" and had opened near Tsukiji 4-chome intersection (formerly Jonathan), which was very convenient as it was only a 2-3 minute walk away. However, the price was a bit steep at 6000 yen per hour for all-you-can-eat, which didn't really suit us. Nevertheless, the restaurant had good reviews on Google and Tabelog, and my follower Kimijima Pink had visited three months ago and seemed satisfied, so that was reassuring.
We decided to order a la carte, as we were worried about ordering too much and leaving food uneaten. My friend insisted on having the crab cream croquette, crab shabu-shabu, and crab rice, so we focused on ordering those. We also ordered dishes like "Baklai and crab salad" and "Grilled crab miso in shell" before the crab cream croquette arrived. It was quite large and my friend exclaimed, "Delicious!! It's totally different from what we usually have at Tohto Grill!" Well, of course, this is a crab specialty restaurant, so the comparison wouldn't be fair.
After enjoying dishes like "Grilled snow crab" and "Crab shabu-shabu," we were left with a pot, and my friend suggested making it into a porridge. We turned it into porridge, which was plentiful and delicious. Then we shared a large portion of crab rice, which we enjoyed half as is and half with broth poured over it. My friend, who is usually a light eater, surprisingly finished everything and remarked, "I'm satisfied! Eating crab like this is much better than an all-you-can-eat place."
The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and relaxing, which added to our dining experience. When it came time to pay the bill, my friend estimated it to be around 30,000 yen with the wine we had ordered. However, to our surprise, the bill came out to only 22,000 yen. My friend suggested coming back again and said, "I'll treat you next time if I win another G1 race like I did with the Takarazuka Kinen this time." It seems my friend was very happy to have won the Takarazuka Kinen after a long time, as he kept mentioning it. Well, the next G1 race will be after October, and by then, crabs will be in season and delicious, so I definitely want to treat him back then.
