I went to the "Hakata motsunabe Yamaya Iidabashi Sakura Terrace store" located on the 3rd floor of Sakura Terrace in Iidabashi to have lunch. I ordered Yamaya's famous "motsunabe set meal (2200 yen)". I was really hungry, so what can satisfy me is the all-you-can-eat mentaiko, takana, and rice! This all-you-can-eat option is amazing. It's a luxury to have all-you-can-eat Hakata-style spicy cod roe at Yamaya. Enjoying motsunabe, mentaiko, takana, and other Fukuoka delicacies for lunch is great! There are plenty of vegetables, so it's full of nutrients. Put mentaiko and takana on rice. It's the best! I think this combination is the best for rice toppings in Japan. I'll have another serving of rice, add some broth, and enjoy it as a refreshing ochazuke. This is perfect for finishing the meal.

I visited a motsunabe restaurant at Sakura Terrace in Iidabashi around 1:30 PM on Saturday. It was almost full, but I was able to get a seat without waiting in line. The grilled fish set was sold out, so I ordered the fried chicken set for 1300 yen. You can eat as much mentaiko, takana, rice, and miso soup as you want, so you can leave feeling satisfied.

We went to the restaurant for lunch because the kids wanted to eat mentaiko. We ate mentaiko as if it were the main dish, sorry for eating too much. We enjoyed the set meal and the mentaiko soup rice was incredibly delicious. We ended up eating too much and feeling sleepy, unable to keep up with the kids' energy levels.

I had grilled mackerel with salt. It was plump, with a nice layer of fat and very delicious. A half portion of mackerel is still quite large... Eating mentaiko (spicy cod roe) with mackerel was so delicious that I couldn't stop. Usually, the mackerel served in restaurants is about this size, but it would be nice if the mackerel was a bit smaller. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. It does feel a bit pricey for lunch though.

After finishing the qualification exam, I really wanted to eat so I traveled to Iidabashi and visited Yama-ya Shokudo. It was past lunchtime so there was no line, but I accidentally lined up at Marugame instead. I paid first and then sat at a seat with a good view by the window. The mentaiko (spicy cod roe) fried chicken set arrived. The high-quality pickles and mentaiko are all-you-can-eat. It feels like I come here once a year. If I came every week, I would have to worry about ventilation, so maybe this frequency is just right. Or rather, since there is no store nearby, I can only come when I have a reason to. However, if I feel like eating it again, I will come back. Thank you for the consistently delicious food. Thank you for the meal.

It's getting hot, so I was debating whether to have motsunabe or not, and ended up not eating it. Instead, I went to an izakaya where I could enjoy plenty of mentaiko. It was delicious as usual, and I love mentaiko so I couldn't resist. I chose the sesame paste over sesame mackerel, which was tasty but a bit too heavy on the sauce. The mountain yam mentaiko and iron pot gyoza were delicious, although not very suitable for a 4-year-old. I ended my meal with pickled mustard leaf rice balls and mentaiko rice, enjoying a mentaiko-filled feast until the end. I felt like trying other menu items besides mentaiko, but I had to give up on that idea because there was no room left for motsunabe afterwards. I wish they had more menu options besides mentaiko. The view is nice, and you can see the Sobu Line running below from above.

This restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of Sakura Terrace, a 2-minute walk from Iidabashi Station on the JR Sobu Line. The well-known chain restaurant "Hakata motsunabe Yamaya" has 43 stores across Japan and 4 stores overseas. On this day, I ordered the lunch staple "Slow-cooked marinated pork with ginger grilled set meal" for 1,300 yen. The pork with ginger grill is a bit too salty from being soaked in sauce, but still delicious. What's great about lunch at "Yamaya" is that you can enjoy unlimited servings of spicy cod roe and mustard pickles, and rice. A must-have for rice with cod roe! It's a classic restaurant!

There were 5 pieces of fried chicken that were big and freshly cooked. They were topped with a sauce that tasted like spicy cod roe, and there was also cod roe on the side. Fried chicken with spicy cod roe flavor set meal: 1,300 yen at Iidabashi for lunch. It was the start of the year and we were able to go with 6 people including new members, so we decided to come here after a long time. We left early and arrived before 12 o'clock, but there was already a line, which surprised me. The turnover was quick and we were able to sit down right away. You can have unlimited refills of spicy cod roe and the fried chicken is very generous, so you'll definitely want more. It was a satisfying and filling lunch.

I am a high school student in Tokyo! Today, I want to introduce a great place in Iidabashi for students - an all-you-can-eat lunch with mentaiko (spicy cod roe)! It's located on the 3rd floor of Sakura Terrace, just a 3-minute walk from Iidabashi Station, at a place called YamaYa. The lunch set they offer is amazing! You can eat all the mentaiko, takana (pickled mustard greens), and rice you want, which is super worth it! The menu is very diverse, but I highly recommend trying the fried chicken set! The mentaiko-flavored fried chicken is so juicy and once you start eating, you won't be able to stop! The combination of fried chicken with extra mentaiko and hot rice is perfect! Another dish I recommend is the grilled fish set! The oily mackerel is thick and delicious! All-you-can-eat mentaiko and rice for only 1300 yen is a great deal for students! Bon appétit! It's getting cold, so I feel like having hot pot! When it comes to hot pot, it has to be motsu nabe. You can order it for two people or more. It's a seasonal limited edition with a rich and delicious soy sauce flavor. The motsu is large, tender, and chewy. There are plenty of vegetables like cabbage, leeks, burdock, shungiku, and tofu. Yuzu pepper, chili peppers, shichimi, and garlic are great toppings that go well with everything. For dessert, have champon noodles. Yum! Highball shochu is refreshing and goes perfectly with motsu nabe! The three-item platter of mentaiko includes squid mentaiko, spicy cod roe, and regular mentaiko. They are great snacks to have with alcohol, especially when drizzled with lemon. The sesame mackerel has a surprising amount of volume with two rows. The mackerel is ordinary, but the wasabi is delicious. The horse sashimi is nicely marbled with oil. Of course, enjoy it with lemon and condiments.

Sakura Terrace is one of the higher-priced lunch spots, so I only come here occasionally. Today, I got a 300 yen discount coupon from the Mitsui Shopping Park app, so I came to eat. I arrived just before 1:30 pm on a weekday, and the place was almost full, but luckily I got seated right away. This time, I ordered the simmered fish set for 1300 yen. I really like the simmered fish set here because it is cooked well and the ingredients are soft and delicious. The lunch special here is the unlimited servings of mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and karashi takana (spicy pickled mustard greens). They used to have it in a pot on the table for self-service, but now they serve it individually due to COVID-19 precautions, with free refills. Mentaiko really goes well with rice, so I ended up getting a second helping of rice, which is rare for me during lunch. I was very satisfied with my meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

I went to Yama-ya on the second floor of Sakura Terrace, which can be seen when you arrive at Iidabashi Station along the Kanda River. I originally planned to go to a different set meal restaurant, but when I passed by Sakura Terrace, I suddenly felt like having the all-you-can-eat mentaiko (spicy cod roe) at Yama-ya that I hadn't had in a long time, so I changed my plans. At Yama-ya, you choose your menu at the register and pay in advance. After paying, I noticed that they also had motsunabe (offal hot pot) during lunchtime. I wish I had known earlier so I could have ordered it. This time, I ordered the Fried Chicken with Mentaiko Flavor Set Meal (1300 yen). The fried chicken had a spicy mentaiko flavor, which was delicious. The best part is that you can have unlimited refills of rice and mentaiko, although I resisted the temptation to have multiple refills this time. I was drawn to Sakura Terrace and decided to check out "Trattoria Granbocca." Unfortunately, there was a long line, so I switched to Yamaya on the 3rd floor. Yamaya used to be located in the basement of Eiraku Building in Otemachi, where I worked, but I never had to wait in line there. Today, there was no line and the restaurant was about half full. I ordered the Chicken Karaage with Mentaiko Flavor Set Meal for 1,300 yen. I paid upfront. After a while, my order arrived, and as I was taking photos, I suddenly realized... Wait, this isn't chicken karaage, it's either ham katsu or menchi katsu set meal... I informed the staff, and they quickly replaced it. The mistake was probably in bringing the wrong order. The rice, mentaiko, and takana were all refillable. At this point, the main focus of the lunch became the refills of takana and mentaiko, with the karaage serving as a side dish... In the end, I filled up on refills. The karaage had a mentaiko flavor, but it was barely noticeable. However, the crispy coating and juicy meat made it delicious. At 1,300 yen, it's a bit pricey, but considering the free refills, it's understandable.

The pickled vegetables and spicy cod roe are still unlimited, but instead of being in jars on the table like before, they are now served in small plates due to the current situation, which makes asking for refills a bit of a hassle. Because of this, I naturally ended up refraining from getting more. The fat content on the hokke fish wasn't that great. I used to think that this kind of restaurant had a consistent taste, so I was a bit disappointed. It's good for people who can eat a lot of spicy cod roe, but now that I'm more conscious of purines and considering the cost performance, I might have to refrain from going to this place in the future.

I love mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and karashi takana (pickled mustard greens) so much. But I'm at an age where I have to worry about my uric acid levels... However, there are rumors that fish roe doesn't affect it, right? While I was thinking about that, there was already a line forming. Even before the store opened, there were a few people waiting. Coming early was the right choice! I ordered the mentaiko fried chicken set! The fried chicken was okay, I guess. But the main attraction was definitely the all-you-can-eat mentaiko and karashi takana with unlimited rice refills! I ate to my heart's content and felt so happy... If they could make ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it) at the end, that would be the best.

I went to a store in Shinsaibashi a long time ago. I think it was around 1000 yen. It has been several years since then. This is my first time at YamaYa since coming to Tokyo. It cost 1300 yen including tax. Expensive (*_*) Well, I guess the price can't be helped... As for the taste, I didn't find it delicious at all (>_<) My memory from the past may have been embellished, but I remember the fried chicken with mentaiko having a stronger flavor when I ate it in Osaka. It was a bit powdery this time. It seemed like it was coated in potato starch... There were only 2 pieces of mentaiko on the plate, probably due to the influence of the coronavirus, and you have to ask for a refill. Even if they say it's all-you-can-eat mentaiko, I don't feel like I ate to my heart's content. I used to enjoy the luxury of covering a bowl with mentaiko and eating it generously. I won't go back to this place with this quality and price.
