Today's lunch is at "Rest House Tokoro" in Kitami City, Hokkaido. After visiting the freshwater fish aquarium and the Kitakitsune Ranch in Kitami City, I started to feel a bit hungry. Yesterday, I indulged in Obihiro gourmet dishes such as "Pork Bowl," "Genghis Khan," "Pork Bowl (2 servings)," "Robatayaki," and "Ramen." After playing golf, I managed to eat all of that, but my stomach was really full. Surprisingly, after using the sauna in the evening and the morning, my full stomach settled down. Since I had a meat-filled day yesterday, today I'm going for fish. In the northernmost area of Kitami City, there is a town called Tokoro. That's where the Japanese national curling team "Loco Solare" is based. Before visiting their training facility, the "Advics Tokoro Curling Hall," I needed to fuel up. There is a diner-like restaurant along the street behind this hall. Apparently, their "Fresh Scallop Bowl (1,500 yen)" is delicious. It's worth coming all the way here for good food. I can't wait to see what it's like. I arrived at the place. By the way, I heard that besides the fresh scallop bowl, the other menu items are also quite tasty. I doubt they have tokoroten here. I entered the restaurant during lunchtime, and there were a few seats taken. I had decided to go for the fresh scallop bowl, but as I carefully examined the extensive menu, I started to hesitate. No, I should stick to my initial choice. I chose the "Fresh Scallop Bowl (1,500 yen)." After a 5-minute wait, it was brought to me. "(This looks delicious. The chewy fresh scallops are so tasty)" You can choose between vinegared rice and regular rice, and of course, I chose vinegared rice. The scallops were already seasoned with soy sauce, but I made a wasabi soy sauce and drizzled it on top while eating. The sweetness of the scallops exploded in my mouth, canceling out the spiciness of the wasabi. This is delicious. I savored the flavor of Okhotsk in each scallop, and finished every last bite.

I visited here after seeing an article about the scallop set meal. It includes sashimi, boiled scallops, fried scallops, simmered dish, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The sashimi is said to be frozen, and it was interesting to try boiled scallops for the first time. It might be better to avoid scallop sashimi in the summer. My friend's scallop sashimi set meal had a larger portion of sashimi, so it felt more satisfying.

I came here to try the scallops from Okhotsk that were recommended online and also featured in a guidebook. It was lunchtime and the wait was about 50 minutes from ordering to serving. The person next to me even said it was like waiting in line at Disneyland. I ordered the "Scallop Special Set" which included soup, fried scallops, sashimi, salt-boiled scallops, pickled scallops, and kimchi salad. The variety of dishes might explain the long wait, but 50 minutes seems a bit excessive. The taste was amazing though, no complaints there. The best dish was the salt-boiled scallops - simply sprinkled with salt, cooked just right on the scallop shell, and incredibly delicious! The sashimi was different in texture and flavor compared to what I've had in Osaka.

I was surprised by the wide variety of dishes centered around the famous scallops of Lake Saroma! I ordered the sushi and seafood spaghetti, while my family ordered the scallop ramen and sea urchin and scallop rice bowl. Everything was delicious! The spaghetti had scallops, clams, squid, and shrimp with a refreshing salty flavor. My family loved it so much that we even got seafood yakisoba and scallop fried rice to go for dinner. We stopped by with the feeling that there weren't many other options around, but it turned out to be a jackpot! I definitely want to go back again! If you're near Lake Saroma, be sure to check it out!

The scallops are amazing! They are so delicious, incredibly fresh! You can choose between white rice and vinegared rice. The friendly waiter recommended the vinegared rice, so I chose that! It was the perfect balance of flavors. The scallops were thick and there was a generous amount on the plate. Absolutely amazing!

The staff is unfriendly. Are they upset that I came early in the afternoon? The prices are touristy. The locals probably don't come here. The freshness is not good either. It's better to buy fresh seafood at a nearby fish market and eat at home. I only came here because it was the only option while traveling. Next time I travel to this area, I'll take more time to find a better restaurant.

Here in Horo, Hokkaido, along Route 391, it was bustling in the spacious restaurant at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The order was all about scallops. A luxurious lineup of sashimi, fried scallops, simmered scallops, miso soup, and salt-boiled scallops. So extravagant! We started with the sashimi, which was delicious with just salt and wasabi. The fried scallops were also delicious with a medium rare texture. While enjoying the simmered scallops, we ate rice and refreshed our palate with scallop miso soup. The most delicious was the salt-boiled scallops, which had a sweet and savory taste when enjoyed medium rare. It truly was a dining experience at the restaurant in the town known for having the best scallops in Japan.

I visited a rest house in Tokoro, which is located in the town of Abira. I ordered the scallop special set meal, which includes scallop fry, scallop sashimi, and grilled scallops. Among them, the grilled scallops were a new experience for me. It was surprisingly delicious!

The town of Tokoro, known as the home of Japanese curling. I stumbled upon this place just around lunchtime and decided to check it out after a quick google search. The exterior had a strong presence, fitting for a countryside drive-in. Upon entering, I noticed a display case in the center, showcasing various items. Definitely not your ordinary drive-in in the countryside. I ordered the following: - Fresh Scallop Bowl ¥1,200 The scallops were plump and plentiful. You could choose between white rice or vinegared rice, and I opted for the latter. Absolutely delicious! No fishy taste, great texture! My boss ordered the Fresh Scallop Set Meal, while my junior colleague and I shared the Fresh Scallop Bowl with white rice and also tried the Scallop Fried Rice. The boss, being from Kanto, commented that the flavors were a bit mild for his taste, but for those of us from western Japan, the seasoning was just right and everything was incredibly tasty! On a side note, we also had the opportunity to visit the curling rink afterwards, which was fantastic. Thank you for the meal!

On the way from Rausu to Mombetsu, I stopped for lunch. I had already decided on the menu. I ordered the Scallop Feast Set Meal for 2200 yen. It includes sashimi, fried scallops, scallop simmered dish, miso soup, and even scallop shabu-shabu? The fried and shabu-shabu scallops were thinly sliced for easy cooking, which was a surprise (lol). But it was delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. Thank you for the meal.

When you come to the town of Rumoi, you must try the local specialty scallops. After purchasing scallops as souvenirs at the direct sales store, I went to a local bustling restaurant for lunch. The restaurant has a parking lot that can accommodate 30 cars and opens at 11 am. When I arrived, there was already one group of customers, and more people started coming in, making it very lively by the time I left. It is a very popular restaurant. The interior has a calm, old-fashioned atmosphere. They offer a variety of dishes such as sushi, set meals, ramen, curry, Chinese food, soba, rice bowls, and appetizers, making it a great place for lunch drinks. According to other reviews, the seafood salad comes with salmon roe. The most popular dish is the fresh scallop rice bowl, and the scallop and sea urchin rice bowl is also tempting. After some hesitation, I decided to order the luxurious scallop set meal. The Scallop Set Meal for ¥2200 was served in about 5 minutes, surprisingly fast! It looked like a dinner at a ryokan, with sashimi, fried food, grilled shellfish, pickles, miso soup, and a variety of cooking methods. The thick and juicy scallops spread sweetness in your mouth as you chew. The grilled shellfish had a savory saltiness, and I even enjoyed the remaining broth. The fried dish came with tartar sauce and potato salad, and there was also pineapple for a refreshing touch. The sashimi scallops came with one shrimp each. They also offer free self-service coffee. The content, volume, and cost performance were all excellent. In summary, there are over 10 scallop dishes to choose from, making it a paradise for scallop lovers. They also offer impressive menus like hokki clam set meals and seasonal oyster specials. The restaurant has a total of 125 seats, including Japanese-style seating. It would be suitable for visiting with your touring companions or as a group. You can find videos on Instagram @moritapan7.

It's a little over 30 minutes by bike from the center of Kitami City. If you follow the winding roads, you'll reach Tokoro Town. It used to be famous for scallops or curling? It's a rest house. It opens at 11 o'clock. When looking at the menu, you might be tempted to order the "Scallop Feast Set Meal" for 2,200 yen, but I decided to go for the "Fresh Scallop Bowl" in a large portion. It costs 1,200 yen, with an additional 200 yen for the large portion! Are there more scallops in it? Or is it just extra rice? I don't know, but whatever! You can choose between vinegared rice and plain rice, of course I chose the vinegared rice. The dish comes out quickly! The scallops are coated in sauce. The scallops are thinly sliced. It would have been nice if they were served in bigger chunks instead of thinly sliced to make it look like there's more. The vinegared rice is delicious, made like sushi rice from a sushi restaurant. It would be even better if there were more scallops in proportion to the amount of rice. It costs 1,400 yen, so why not add more scallops, right? It may look like a mountain of scallops in the photos, but it's not! The scallops are neatly arranged on top of a mountain of vinegared rice. It's a good place to create memories for traveling riders.

In a town famous for scallops, I tried a scallop set meal. It included scallop sashimi, fried scallops, salt-boiled scallops, and dried scallops. Each dish brought out a different flavor, showcasing the unique deliciousness of scallops. The scallops themselves were not too sweet or bland, but had a natural deliciousness that had not been overly processed.

I happened to pass by in the evening and decided to stop by as I didn't feel like cooking when I got home. I ordered the Scallop Bowl for 1200 yen and the Scallop Fry Set for 1600 yen. Since we were the only customers, the Scallop Bowl arrived quickly. The plump scallops were generously placed on a bed of rice. You can choose between vinegared rice and white rice, and I chose vinegared rice. The dish was garnished with shiso leaves, finely shredded seaweed, parsley, and wasabi. It was delicious without a doubt! The Scallop Fry Set came with tartar sauce on the side. You can use the table sauce or the tartar sauce, both are good. We finished it in no time. It's a great restaurant, and I would love to visit again.

Scallop feast set meal. When it comes to Tokoro, it has to be scallops. I had a scallop feast set meal. Some days, due to rough seas, fresh scallops may not be available. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat so many scallops, but I finished them with ease. Thank you for the meal.

On the way to Memanbetsu Airport, I searched for "I want to eat scallops again" and found this restaurant near my current location. It was bustling with customers, with one after another coming in. The popular orders seemed to be the Scallop Special Set Meal, Fresh Scallop Bowl, and Seafood Bowl. I ordered the Scallop Special Set Meal for 2200 yen, Medium Fresh Sushi for 1800 yen, and Scallop and Shellfish Ramen for 900 yen. The Scallop Special Set Meal included white rice, miso soup with baby scallops, fried shellfish, scallop and sweet shrimp sashimi, scallop simmered dish, scallop pickles, scallop roe marinated in soy sauce, and pickled vegetables. It was all delicious, although it was a bit disappointing that the rice was not scallop rice. I had gotten used to scallops, so I wasn't as impressed as when I had the fresh scallop bowl at Sarufutsu Marugoto Kan, but it was still very tasty. The Scallop and Shellfish Ramen, which I had high expectations for, was too salty to drink the broth. When I asked if I could have more soup, the staff kindly added more for me. The ramen had a flavorful scallop taste with thin noodles and large shellfish pieces, making it a great dish. I thoroughly enjoyed the scallop dishes that concluded this trip. Thank you for the meal. As an additional souvenir, I bought Seal Curry from Abashiri Prison. The taste of seal was intense, similar to whale meat in texture but with a strong smell. Even if seal meat is processed well, it seems to have this taste. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Abashiri City in Hokkaido and visited the coral grass colony at Lake Notori during the autumn foliage season. The coral grass was bright red and in full bloom when I visited on September 21st. Feeling hungry, I headed to Tomura Town and stopped by a restaurant called "Rest House Tokoro." They were still open for lunch when I arrived around 1 pm, and I was able to find a seat easily. I ordered the "Mixed Bowl (Scallop, Sea Urchin, Salmon Roe) ¥2,400" and the "Scallop and Salmon Roe Bowl ¥2,000," along with an additional order of "Scallop Fry ¥1,000." The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. The scallops were sweet without any fishy taste, and the scallop fry was crispy and flavorful. I highly recommend stopping by "Rest House Tokoro" in Tomura Town for a delicious meal. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Scallop rice bowl (1200 yen) The scallops were decent in both quantity and quality. I had high expectations due to the good reviews...^^; However, I was satisfied with being able to enjoy plenty of delicious scallops with my favorite vinegared rice! Sashimi dishes tend to be more expensive, but I think 1200 yen is reasonable. Even when looking at other menu items like sea urchin or salmon roe, I found the prices to be reasonable.

Scallop rice bowl for 1200 yen with the option of vinegar rice or white rice chosen white rice. Hokkaido scallop salt ramen for 900 yen, of course, I thought this area would have scallops and crab, so I chose it. The parking lot is spacious, the number of seats is large, and many local residents and elderly people visit to relax in the raised seating area. They also order regular meals. It seems to be stable.

I visited Tokucho, a town famous for scallops that I saw on a local TV show once. It is the birthplace of scallop aquaculture, and you can enjoy fresh and delicious scallops at a reasonable price. I went on a 2-night, 3-day trip to the Okhotsk region from Sapporo. On this day, after sightseeing at Abashiri Prison and Lake Saroma, we drove towards Kitami. We stopped at "Rest House Tokoro." The place has a cool drive-in vibe that I really liked. It was a quiet evening on a weekday, with only a few buildings around, but the restaurant was quite busy. There were tourists and locals dining there. We ordered the following dishes to share between two people: - Fresh Scallop Bowl - Scallop Special Set Meal The scallops were indeed very delicious! They were thick, chewy, and had a natural sweetness. No wonder this is the town known for the best scallops in Japan. It's quite far for a day trip from Sapporo, and once I move back to Tokyo after finishing my job transfer, it may not be easy to come back here, but I would love to visit again someday just to enjoy the scallops in Tokucho. If you love scallops, I highly recommend trying the fresh scallops from Tokucho.

~Scallop Heaven in Hokkaido: Restaurant Tokoro in Kitami City~ I think Hokkaido has plenty of delicious ingredients, but the one that stood out the most was scallops! The birthplace of scallop aquaculture is here in Tokoro, a town in Kitami City. The atmosphere at "Restaurant Tokoro" is filled with love from the locals. Since reservations are not accepted, it's best to arrive when they open. I had already decided what to order before entering the restaurant - the "Scallop Feast Set Meal for 2,200 yen." It truly was a scallop lover's dream come true. The knowledgeable diner next to me also chose the same set meal. The set meal included scallop sashimi, scallop shabu-shabu, and scallop fry. The freshly fried scallops were the highlight of the meal. Surprisingly, the scallop fry was the most delicious dish in the set. Although I didn't take a close-up photo, even the miso soup had scallops in it. Being able to enjoy scallops in various ways left me feeling satisfied. It was truly delicious. Bon appétit!
