If you're at the Sapporo outdoor market, everyone should definitely visit this restaurant! While looking for lunch at the market, a local recommended this place to us. It was a bit of a walk from the shopping street, so we almost got lost, but luckily there was a seat available when we arrived. Apparently, the restaurant is affiliated with a crab wholesaler, so they specialize in crab dishes. The customer next to us was having a grand crab feast, and when we asked the price, it was several tens of thousands of yen... haha. Well, good things are expensive, right? So we ordered the crab and sea urchin rice bowl, and crab miso soup. Sea urchin is really expensive now, costing over 1,000 yen for one piece at sushi restaurants in Tokyo, but here we got a generous amount of sweet and delicious sea urchin for around 3,500 yen. Such a great deal. The crab was also incredibly tasty. And the highlight was definitely the crab miso soup. Despite being only 350 yen, it was packed with a lot of crab! The soup was filled with so much crab meat that it seemed never-ending. For just 350 yen, we experienced the ultimate crab feast. It was amazing. I felt so happy. I will definitely visit this place again when I go back to Sapporo.

I came for breakfast by taxi because it seems to be open from 7 o'clock. The menu says the sea urchin bowl is ¥3500~ but today it's 4,000 yen. I ordered just sea urchin because I don't need rice. It's Bafun sea urchin. I also ordered a sashimi assortment and grilled Atka mackerel. I don't need wasabi for the sea urchin, it's delicious. The Atka mackerel was really big. It was a bit too much for one person, but I managed to eat it. I feel a bit sick in my stomach since eating so much in the morning. Thank you for the meal. The taxi back home will be called by the restaurant. Thank you very much.

Before visiting the customer, I checked the map and discovered the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. I decided to take a walk as it seemed worth exploring. There were various shops around, but I ended up at Marusan Mikami Shoten. It was great, with lots of ingredients available. I noticed that they also offer set meals (Marusan Tei) in a corner of the store. Since it was almost lunchtime, I went inside right away. To my surprise, they were selling salt sea urchin (uni) there. I immediately ordered the Uni and Crab Bowl for 3,300 yen. The atmosphere of the market was evident, and the bowl was served in no time after ordering. I scooped up the uni and put it in my mouth. It was incredibly sweet and creamy. Delicious! Apparently, the uni is harvested near Otaru at this time of year. I quickly finished the bowl, but it was very satisfying. It was a fruitful walk where I could get salt uni and more. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back for shopping and dining.

The crab miso soup is in the 300 yen range, but it has a generous amount of crab meat and a rich broth, making it delicious. On the other hand, the seasonal seafood bowl costs 3300 yen and has less quantity compared to the miso soup. There was nothing particularly outstanding about the seafood bowl. The miso soup is recommended at this restaurant.

It was a cozy restaurant. Located a bit away from the area with many restaurants, it felt like a hidden gem. The restaurant is inside a crab tank (market?), so it may not be suitable for those who dislike the smell of the sea. We arrived around 11 am with a group of 8 people. Luckily, we were able to all sit at a table for 8. There were only a few counter seats available. The prices were reasonable, and the thickly sliced fish was satisfying. The crab soup was likely made with freshly caught crabs from the nearby tank, and we were able to enjoy it without having to break apart the meat (a sign of freshness).

I moved from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo city and had an early lunch. I planned to eat ramen later, so I kept it light (lol). I ordered live scallop sashimi for 500 yen, grilled salmon belly for 1,200 yen, and crab soup for 350 yen. The live scallops were cooked fresh from the tank after ordering, so the freshness was excellent! The meat was delicious, but eating the crunchy stringy part raw was a unique experience. The salmon belly was fatty and the portion was quite large for one person. The crab soup was made to order, and despite the crab being frozen, the amount for 350 yen was surprising. I actually intended to order the seasonal sashimi platter for 1,800 yen, but after the salmon belly and crab soup, I was already full, so it was a blessing in disguise that my order didn't go through!

Barachirashi donburi (1,500 yen) with only 10 servings available per day was sold out. Since sea urchin was recommended at this time of year, I was looking for sea urchin dishes. When I asked if they had sea urchin, salmon roe, and crab, they kindly made a special 3-color donburi for me for 3,300 yen. There were many other 3-color donburi dishes available at this price. They suggested trying it without soy sauce, so I ate it as is. The vinegar rice was delicious. The freshness of the sea urchin was top-notch. I forgot to ask about the type of crab, but it was tasty. The salmon roe was also fresh and delicious. It would have been perfect if there was a bit more rice. Thank you for the meal.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday morning at 9 am by rental car. Parked in front of the store. It is run by a friendly landlady and two hard-working male employees. We decided to share a tuna ikura bowl and a sea urchin crab bowl. The landlady recommended crab miso soup, so we added two bowls. The miso soup had a perfect balance of saltiness, and we enjoyed it in silence. The two bowls were served late. We started with the sea urchin crab bowl first. Without adding wasabi soy sauce at first... Wow, it's delicious. Oh, it's sweet. Next, we tried the tuna ikura bowl, adding wasabi soy sauce and finishing it in one go... It's so tasty. After finishing the meal, we started picking at the crab again when we saw crab fried rice being served to another customer... I, I want to eat that. But my stomach refused, so we had to give up... What a shame.

It's a dining room at a fish wholesaler. I've been coming here for about 10 years. The first time I tried the herring sushi here, it was shocking. The cost performance is good and the seafood is fresh. This time, I wanted to eat saury, so I ordered grilled saury. The flesh was big and firm. If this place was closer to my home, I would definitely come here more often.

The market was extremely crowded, so we went to Chuo Market around 11:20 on a weekday to eat king crab! The restaurant was always full, with many reservations, so new customers had to wait. The entrance counter was busy and cold, but the back of the restaurant was recommended. The operation was run by two people, so when it was full, it was hard to keep up. The food took some time to be served, and we ended up spending about 1 hour and 20 minutes in the restaurant! There was no menu, but we bought the crab from the neighboring shop and they cooked it for us. There was over 4 kilograms of crab left, which was too much for two people to eat. That's when we found frozen live king crab! 1 kilogram for 15,000 yen, with free cooking service! They only cooked it by grilling as they don't serve sashimi. We also ordered some other dishes: Konbu with eggs for 500 yen, which was a generous portion for the price, and crab miso soup for 350 yen, which had half a snow crab for that price - unbelievably cheap! In total, we spent 8,000 yen per person and were able to eat our fill of crab! It's so affordable! Will definitely come back again!

This is an off-market shop. About half of the customers were foreigners. I waited for about 15 minutes in front of the tank full of taraba crabs before entering. This time, I ordered sea urchin crab bowl and crab soup. It cost a total of 5000 yen, which is not cheap, but there's no point in being stingy after coming all the way here. Let's dig in! After a 10-minute wait, first came the crab soup. So many legs! Just eating this is already a job. Covered in crab meat all over my hands and face, I welcome the sea urchin crab bowl. The sea urchin is of course fresh, with a soft and gentle sweetness. Let's forget about the price. The crab also has a completely different taste from the crab soup. Mmm, happiness ❤️ This is what Hokkaido is all about. I am very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Off-market area. A shop visible to the right of Sapporo Morning Market. I visited this place after leaving the market without having sushi due to various circumstances. The reviews were good, so my expectations were high. Inside the shop, there were autographed items from Yuya Tegoshi. As I like striped Atka mackerel, I ordered the following: Grilled Striped Atka Mackerel (1,100 yen) and Rice Set (350 yen). The Striped Atka Mackerel was a large size, about 30cm long and 400g, but unfortunately, it didn't taste as good as it looked. The fat content was low, and it lacked flavor. It may have been just a bad timing in terms of freshness. The Rice Set included rice, seaweed soup, and pickles. The rice was average, the seaweed soup had chunky seaweed that I didn't like the taste of, but the pickles were delicious. The couple running the shop had a great atmosphere, and the chef was friendly, so I wanted to give a high rating, but this time it didn't live up to expectations compared to other shops in the market. Most of the shops in the market have a similar feel, but this highly rated shop fell short. There was a photo of king crab legs, and I managed to sneak a photo before passing it to the person next to me. It's not right to secretly take photos of people's food (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

Breakfast at the morning market in Sapporo. The atmosphere is calm due to the bad weather, so it's quieter compared to the outdoor stalls. I ordered the seasonal seafood bowl for 3,300 yen, which looked very glossy. I also wanted to try the Hokkaido classic seafood, so I ordered the crab soup for 350 yen. The seafood bowl was small but had a variety of fresh ingredients (I wish the salmon had more fat, but maybe it's not in season?). It was quite enjoyable. Furthermore, being a wholesaler of crabs, the hot crab soup had four hairy crab legs in it, and the crab flavor was rich. I was surprised it was only 350 yen.

Near Sapporo's outdoor market, there is a breakfast spot that opens at 7 am. I was able to get in before opening time, which I appreciated. They offer a variety of rice bowl dishes. This time, I ordered the seasonal sashimi platter for one person. Even though it was morning, I paired it with a classic Hokkaido beer. The miso soup with plenty of flower crab was also delicious. The sashimi included four types, with thick cuts. The thick cut of the horsehair crab was particularly impressive, with a firm texture and great flavor. The tuna, salmon, and sweet shrimp were also tasty. Overall, the miso soup with plenty of crab meat was satisfying.

I visited a restaurant in Sapporo, Hokkaido around 10:30 a.m. near Nijuhachiken Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line, next to the Sapporo Central Market. Unfortunately, the top-rated restaurant on Tabelog, "Teishoku Meshiya," was already sold out and closed when I arrived. So, I quickly looked up the next highly rated restaurant on Tabelog and decided to go there. Inside the restaurant, there was a large fish tank, giving it a market dining feel. Surprisingly, the place was almost empty. I wondered if this place was really highly rated?! I ordered the 3-Seafood Donburi for 2,500 yen (scallop, salmon, salmon roe). The seafood donburi that arrived was quite small... I was expecting something more hearty since it's Hokkaido!! But it was totally different. The scallop was a bit chewy, the salmon didn't have much fat, and the amount of salmon roe was not that much. It was definitely tasty and not bad, but compared to the expectations of a market dining place, the reality was... a bit disappointing. It's like watching a sexy DVD that hypes you up a lot, but in the end, it's just like a tuna, no excitement at all. If I were in middle school, I would have cried. That's how much of a letdown it was. Overall, the prices were okay, but there wasn't anything particularly outstanding. I really didn't feel the charm of Hokkaido. I feel like I could have had a similar experience eating a seafood donburi at a local sushi restaurant. This place is located in the Sapporo Central Market, but it's quite far from the sea, so maybe this is the kind of experience you get when eating a seafood donburi in a tourist area. That's the kind of place it is.

Seafood bara-chirashi bowl and kombu with eggs ordered. The restaurant quickly filled up in no time. Despite being a bit off the central wholesale market, the crowdedness must be due to the cost performance and taste. The staff seemed busy, so there was not much chance for conversation, but they were not rude at all. You can enjoy fresh seafood and also buy souvenirs. Enjoy the authentic taste of Hokkaido.

A shop located outside of Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. I visited here upon my wife's request for seafood. Inside the building, there are many tanks with crabs and other seafood, with a corner designated for dining. There are counter seats and table seats, but the space is not very large. We arrived slightly early for lunch, so we were the only customers. There were various menu items such as seafood bowls and grilled dishes, but my wife chose the "Seasonal Seafood Bowl (3,300 yen)" which was the most popular, and I chose the "Grilled Striped Hokke (1,100 yen)" with a "Rice Set (with miso soup for 350 yen)". The dishes were ready in about 10 minutes. My grilled hokke had a decent size, with plenty of fat and a tender texture, making it very delicious. My wife's seafood bowl was small but had a variety of fresh and delicious seafood toppings. The staff's service seemed a bit indifferent compared to other outside market shops, but the prices were reasonable, making it a good choice for tourists as well.

I came here wanting to eat delicious hairy crab. You can boil it right in front of you, but it takes over 30 minutes and the crab can be watery right after boiling, so I had it boiled in the morning. I enjoyed the crab with miso more than the meat. The crab fried rice and crab soup were also delicious, making it a crab feast.

A restaurant located about 10 minutes from JR Kuwaen Station and Sapporo City Subway Nijuyonken Station in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Visited on a snowy winter day and it was empty. I tried the Three-color Donburi (scallop, shrimp, salmon roe) for 2000 yen. The scallops and shrimp were of nice quality and had a rich flavor. The salmon roe was also good. While there are mixed reviews for this place in the summer, it was delicious during my visit. Thank you for the meal.

If you don't eat crab at Marusan-tei when you visit Hokkaido, it's not a true Hokkaido trip!! I highly recommend this place if you come to Hokkaido!! You can eat Taraba crab at a super cheap price!! Eating all of this for under 20,000 yen is too good of a deal!!
What I ate:
- Kombu with roe
- Tuna sashimi
- Scallop sashimi
- Salmon roe bowl
- Grilled Taraba crab
- Steamed Taraba crab
