Overwhelmed by the sight I had seen on TV, I was filled with gratitude once again for how delicious milk is produced.

Even though I knew it was directly from the farm, I was amazed by its freshness. It had a light and refreshing taste, both the milk and coffee flavors were well-balanced and delicious. I was heading to Hakodate when someone told me there's a place called Yamakawa Farm nearby, so I hesitated but ended up making a detour. It turned out to be a good decision because the soft serve ice cream was rich but had a refreshing aftertaste, similar to the style I like from Betsukai Soft. On this day, we drove from Hakodate Station to Onuma Park by rental car. We stopped by "Yamakawa Farm Milk Plant" near Onuma Park. This farm seems to handle everything from milk production to sales, with a shop directly operated by the farm. We entered the shop and purchased tickets from the vending machine! The most popular item is the vanilla soft serve ice cream! Other flavors available were coffee mix, coffee, chocolate mix, chocolate, green tea mix, and green tea. With tickets in hand, we went to the counter. The soft serve ice cream came out quickly! Let's dig in! The soft serve ice cream had a fluffy and soft texture! It was rich but had a refreshing aftertaste! You could really taste the richness of the milk. This is probably because it is made from freshly squeezed milk from the natural farm, which is of high quality and additive-free. The ingredients for the soft serve ice cream include milk, as well as natural ingredients like vanilla beans. And when we stepped out of the shop... there were many cows next door. Today is a weekday, with the store closing in 30 minutes. The June temperature is on the higher side, with one group of customers already there and three more groups arriving later. I tried the Chocomix waffle, which was a light and sweet ice cream that I could easily enjoy, especially with the nice weather. The shop is located next to a milking cow shed and "calf apartment" where you can see the cows, making it enjoyable for families with children!

On the way from Sapporo to Hakodate, I was taken to a place where you can eat delicious soft serve ice cream. I was brought to Yuran, where I was able to admire the newborn calves and feel healed and satisfied. I ordered a cup of Full Blend Soft Peach at the ticket machine inside the store. The peach chunks are scattered in the soft serve (not in big chunks). The soft serve has a smooth texture and a rich flavor, not too sweet and easy to eat. Yuran cannot eat anything too sweet. I didn't have high expectations, but after the initial crisp texture, it had a rich milk flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, and a light, refreshing aftertaste as it melted. It was exactly to my liking. Not too heavy, and you can enjoy it even when you're not hungry. The shop's specialty is that they use a mix of Holstein and Jersey milk, and feed the cows delicious natural water. I liked it so much that I ended up buying some cookies too (they're also available online, but were sold out). I regret underestimating Hakodate milk. I would definitely visit again if I'm nearby.

On the way, I noticed a sign for soft serve ice cream and decided to stop by after consulting with my wife. Our child was sleeping peacefully, so we tried to leave quietly, but suddenly he woke up and insisted on coming with us. He said, "The words 'soft serve ice cream' woke me up instantly." Maybe we found a new alarm for him in the mornings. The soft serve ice cream was made with Jersey cow milk. Although Jersey cow milk is considered rare, we found it to be a bit too sweet for our liking. We prefer a stronger milk flavor with less sweetness. The texture, however, was good!

Near Onuma Park, a ranch was bustling with many people and cars. The atmosphere had indoor and outdoor seating. Even though there were cows, they were all tied up, including their tails. To order, you buy soft serve ice cream from a vending machine and then pay at the register. You can also get milk from the fridge and return the bottle to get ¥160 back. It seemed a bit pricey. The crowd consisted mostly of families and tourists, but there were also tough-looking bikers who seemed to have a sweet tooth. I stayed for about 20 minutes.
