I haven't written reviews before, but I really like Yoshinoya's beef bowl. Sometimes I eat it after drinking, and occasionally I have it for a quick lunch when I'm short on time. There are several beef bowl chains, but for me, it's always Yoshinoya. I have tried others, but Yoshinoya is my go-to choice. About 10 years ago, I would always reflexively order the extra-large size when I went in. The amount of meat was appealing. However, it's a bit tough to eat the extra-large size at my age now. But I still want to enjoy a good amount of beef in my beef bowl. So, my personal indulgence is to order the large size beef bowl (542 yen) and a regular size beef plate (332 yen) together. It's a pattern where there's less rice but more meat compared to the extra-large size. The price goes up a bit, but it still doesn't reach 1,000 yen. This combination, which I hadn't had in over a year, happened during a "Yoshinoya after getting drunk" situation this time. Yoshinoya, whose performance is not necessarily strong, seems to be making efforts with options like small-size bowls. This time it was the Mitaka Station South Exit store. There's a major chain's main store at the North Exit, so maybe that's why it's at the South Exit. I sat at the counter and ordered the large size beef bowl with extra sauce, and right away I also ordered a regular size beef plate. I like extra sauce. Yoshinoya is fast, cheap, and delicious, so the order arrived quickly. In the large size bowl, you can see a bit of white rice at the edges. Hmm, with this portioning, I can't become the "Meat Portioning Grand Champion." By the way, the current Grand Champion seems to work at the Koenji store. For this beef bowl, I first sprinkle the shichimi pepper evenly until the surface turns red. Yoshinoya's shichimi pepper is not very spicy. Then, I pour soy sauce around the bowl three times. Once I put a moderate amount of pickled ginger on about a third of the surface, I'm ready to eat. I start eating from the edge, enjoying the deliciousness of the meat, the tastiness of the fat, and the sauce soaking into the onions, and I eat slightly more meat than usual. Even though it's Yoshinoya, there may be some variation in taste and quality depending on the store. In the past, a certain store in Nagoya had slightly spicy sauce. A certain store in Tokyo had slightly less meat. The Mitaka Station South Exit store had a bit of space in the way the meat was portioned, but other than that, it was the usual taste. I continue to eat enthusiastically, and when about half is left, I add the meat from the beef plate to the bowl. The amount of meat is overwhelmingly more than the rice, making it a luxurious feeling. I quickly scoop it all up. I apologize for this personal indulgent review. Please don't imitate it, and eat the way you like.
