On July 29, 2023 (Saturday), I visited Sushidokoro Nagoyakatei in Hassamu. The restaurant opened at 11:00 am and the staff were very energetic. Normally, I go to Triton in Maruyama, but today, after my child's lesson, we decided to go to Nagoyakatei nearby. It was a nice change to see the sushi rotating on a conveyor belt, unlike Triton where you order from a menu. The menu had photos of recommended dishes, which was helpful, but the rest was just text and a bit hard to read. It would have been easier if all items had photos. The seared salmon that came around on the belt first was delicious. It was a joy to pick up sushi from the belt after a long time. I was a bit disappointed when I hesitated to take a dish and it passed by on the belt (laughs). When you want to order, you write it down on a piece of paper and hand it to the staff, which was a bit inconvenient. I'm used to touch screens, so it felt a bit old-fashioned. The rice was a bit too mushy compared to Triton, but the fish was very tasty. The tea and pickled ginger were as good as Triton's. What made me happy today was that they were selling the tea at the counter for 450 yen! I tried the adult natto roll, which was delicious but very spicy due to the rapeseed wasabi. It was a good kind of spicy, but it caught me off guard (laughs). The orange jelly served as a good chaser. Eating it in between dishes refreshed my palate. By the way, the four pieces of salmon in the photo are two orders. My child and I had a total of 20 plates, which cost around 5,000 yen. There's also a Nagoyakatei in the nearby Aeon Hassamu, so this location wasn't too crowded. The staff here were friendly and worked hard. Compared to Triton in terms of menu clarity, rice quality, and dessert appeal, Triton comes out on top. But if you want to enjoy delicious sushi without waiting in line, Nagoyakatei is a good choice. The salmon, natto roll, potato, tea, and pickled ginger were enough to satisfy us (laughs). This restaurant has been around for at least 30 years. I remember going there with relatives from Honshu when I was in elementary school, and they were raving about how delicious the food was. I hope they continue to thrive for many more years. The tea was truly divine!
